Seems to be newly posted.

I think sometimes it's forgotten that famous people are actually real people with genuine feelings.

Don't agree with her about mumsnet just being negative and judgemental all the time though, really excellent support available on here.

OP posts:
KayHunt · 07/04/2013 09:58

I used to think she was alright, but she's just a puppet for arseholes to voice their opinions.
Its sad that she can't actually come on here and read the masses of wonderfully supportive posts, rather than a few select posts.

Just shows how easily manipulated she is.

Madamecastafiore · 07/04/2013 09:58

Oh right. Well I think someone who is so talented at judging to actually get paid for it, I mean she must have GCSEs in it at least to get such a high brow job, and to do it in such a kind, non bitchy manner has every right to be pissed off at being judged by amateurs!

At least Ulrika could read the weather! That's almost a public service!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 07/04/2013 11:05

Can anyone explain the placenta-attached-to-bladder bit? How does the placenta, which is inside the uterus, attach itself to the bladder, which is not? Confused Is this the DM getting it wrong?

As for Amanda Holden, personally, I think that for someone who had a stillborn baby to go back to work 3 weeks after her next baby was born is a bit strange. We're all different, yadadada, and I suppose if someone offered me a hefty paycheck for sitting still and bitching about talent contestants, I might have done it. However. My first baby was stillborn at term and my second was born 4 days before DD1's first birthday. At 3 weeks you could not have prised DD2 away from me with a crowbar. I was still at the stage of being convinced she was dead every time she fell asleep. Add in establishing bf and being a physical wreck post-CS and there's no way I would have braved a camera. (Although reading between the lines I suspect that AH didn't bf, given that she's slating MN for judging women who don't.)

TheBigJessie · 07/04/2013 11:13

I think I remember that thread, and weren't most people defending her, and pointing out that she's a self-employed celebrity, who doesn't get maternity leave, and is liable to be replaced at a moment's notice?

DM journalist who told her about it = stirrer
Amanda Holden = probably needs the money for the article/ actually is incapable of noticing positive comments.

I have to say I think she has a point, I've been shocked on here sometimes by how negative and judgemental some of the comments can be,to the point where I even thought twice about this!!!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 07/04/2013 11:39

I meant to say as well that I found an incredibly supportive group of women on here when DD1 died. The bereaved mothers group and the ttc after stillbirth threads were invaluable to me, and still are.

MyDarlingClementine · 07/04/2013 11:47

There is nothing wrong with the original thread most people were defending her actions, or her right to those actions against others on here.

I remember the furore at the time and her near death experience, I also remember thinking, that going to sit on the panel of the BGT show for a few days was hardly arduous work!

She does have a point re BF on here. Not because of the majority, but there are some on here who come up on every single thread about feeding, even the ones totally dedicated to FF and they come on and dominate it - and pressure people and as much as they say they support all methods of feeding, they don't. And the disapprovel oozes from every word and then they say " BUt its for the absolute best thing for the baby. So what about you, you would do anything for the best food for the baby wouldn't you?"
I imagine, rather than the other thread, if she has been on, wanting some tips and read some of those threads she would be upset.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 07/04/2013 11:50

I find the timing of this article......interesting

WorraLiberty · 07/04/2013 11:52

It seems a bit of a coincidence that as soon as MNers start a twitter campaign against the DM, the DM comes back with criticism of MN. I think they are just using Amanda Holden to tell their readers 'don't listen to those nasty women who use MN'

This ^^ totally.

The DM are just throwing a hissy fit that's all.

higgle · 07/04/2013 13:07

Strange that someone who shows a decent work ethic is getting slated again on here. If she wanted to go back to work after three weeks then that was her decision, and in my opinion setting a very good example to her mother of how women need to behave to achieve equality in the work place.

Madmum24 · 07/04/2013 13:49

I do find it a bit strange that anyone whose heart stopped for four minutes/haemmorhaged would even think about going back to work three weeks after, let alone someone who ALSO had a newborn, however that is up to her. What does annoy me is the fact that she is laying the blame/responsibility on her elder daughter. If she feels she needs to get to work FGS just man up and admit it, blaming it on a 7 year old is lame.

I personally like the vipers nest varied opinions on mumsnet; after spending too long on a "natural" mums forum it is nice to get a virtual kick up the rear occasionally, instead of all the overly constant namby pambying of posters and "i'm hearing you hun, being a fab parent is soooooooo hard"

Plomino · 07/04/2013 13:53

I might have cracked and sent a comment that next time she ventured on here, that she should RTFT . Because if she had , she might have seen it actually was fairly balanced either way . Curiously , the comment hasn't made it onto the page .......

theodorakisses · 07/04/2013 16:38

She has no idea of the support available on MN

I had no idea of the amount of people who would like to show off about refusing to read the DM in the context of a thread.

If you want to make a balanced post, by all means research other avenues but unless the DM is the new BF/FF, allow a balanced discussion based on what the media is actually saying. This is what people are believing and the Sun and Mirror are possibly worse.

kennyp · 07/04/2013 16:57

Dm gets even more airtime here, mn gets airtime there. Who seriously gives a shit about when anyone goes back to work after giving birth, with or without complications.

If i had a hairstylist and a make up lady and a stylist and was chauffered to work plus am earning a big fat salary i would have gone back to work (if i had a job) after three weeks too.

final attempt... damn ipad and baby brain

Emmon · 07/04/2013 19:04

There is often a witches' coven mentality on here. I have been given a panning a few times but could not really give a stuff. In fact I do not know why I have even logged on this site again, it is for foul mouthed judgmental idiots.

Emmon · 07/04/2013 19:04

logging off now, hopefully not coming back!

pansyflimflam · 07/04/2013 19:14

I think the thing with AH was that simultaneously that after losing her baby that she then milked all the 'I almost died in childbirth' stuff and went back to work after 3 weeks. Yes we are all different and entitled to do as we please lalala BUT when one sells every aspect of one's life, even the painful bit then one opens oneself up to judgement. And essentially there is something very unlikeable about her, not sure what

Maybe two words: Les Dennis

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 07/04/2013 19:16

bye emmon :)

MsBella · 07/04/2013 19:22

If people have said those disgusting, vile and sick things about her regarding the unborn child that she lost etc. then OF COURSE it is perfectly understandable that she hates this website.

crashdoll · 07/04/2013 19:26

Pansy Exactly! Live by the sword, die by the sword and all that....

MummytoKatie · 07/04/2013 20:32

The comment about her 7 year old is just plain weird - presumably normality for Lexi is to be an only child so perhaps they should send the baby off to the orphanage.

Why not just say

"I went back as it was the right time for me - and I'm really lucky in comparison to most working mums as I could take the baby with me which makes it so much easier."
