To be addicted to the Battersea cats needing homes page?

I got into the habit of checking it every day when we were looking for our girl. We've had her a week now but I can't stop myself from looking at it every day even though we definitely don't want another cat (not now anyway). I think I just like it when they get marked as rehomed. There are a couple of cats who are still there from when I started looking over a month ago and it makes me sad that they still haven't found someone to love them.

Ooh no I love a browse of the CP rehoming pages, even though I can't have another. I like to see what I could have if Sparkling cat would let me.

OP YANBU. I often while away time looking on there, too. I've weakened too many times, thorough - hence us havin three! It makes DH nervous when he sees my browsing history...

Oh my god, I thought I was the only strange one that did this!

I'm always checking our local rescue website to look at the dogs and there is one in particular who looks like he is a huge scruffy bundle of love (called Bruce!) and he has 'reserved' on him for a few days, then the 'reserved' word disappears again. It's happened about 15 times now so he must be difficult to rehome, but he looks amazing and I always feel when the 'reserved' disappears and his photo is still there. I am very odd.

Is there something wrong with me, I want that knackered looking geriatric ginger one?!
Which site is Bruce on asleb? Surely someone here might be able to take on his special needs.

I told myself that I was only checking to see if the other cat we could have picked had been rehomed yet. He went on Tuesday and I'm still looking at the cats.

Yes zebedee, he looks like my now in cat heaven old boy. Miss being woken up by a cat slap at 6am every morning!

I'm at the rehoming fees though.
£75 for a moggie - £130 for 2 kittens.

Now I know this includes neutering / injecting if needed (some of them would already have had this done, And they don't pay "high street prices" like you or I if we went to our vets)

But you can see why people are still tempted by Gumtree or the friend of a friends cat.

(When I got my moggie years ago it was from a rescue that concentrated on capturing and neutering ferals. I found out how much a high street vet would charge to neuter and gave that as a donation)

It's £50 at CP round here 70. That includes vaccinations, microchip transfer, month of pet insurance etc. And support if things don't work out.

But I know what you mean. Why pay anything if you can get one for free? And you don't need a home check either if you buy from Gumtree.

But would those people who get for free then go on to get chips, shots, check ups etc, sparkling. I think a modest charge is a good idea if it starts (or re-starts) the cat on the right path.

Exactly cozie. If they can't find the £50, then it's unlikely that you will neuter, vaccinate, deflea etc.

Sorry just reread my post and it looks like I am saying getting free cats is a good thing doesn't it? I meant the opposite. definitely.

I have a rescue cat from CP (Scotland) my fee was £40 which inc jabs, some food, bed, and a bit of carpet he liked!
I put a box of food in the CP bin at Tesco's whenever i shop there.
I really want another but I live with my partners parents so don't think I can :( Love my little rescue cat though, he's a character :)
