It's all very lovely but it is such shocking timing when you've been awake for too many hours and hoping to be in bed by 8.

If you catch a dear little squidgy pink baby at 7.20. Then you have to wait for a placenta. Then cuddle. The write it all down coherently and legibly.

So if you could get it done an hour or so before 7 that would be super. Thanks.

:) how about 22.40 is that ok or did I piss my midwife off? especially as I only walked through the door at 22.00 and the unit was empty until then

I did ok with dd 17.10 and ds1 06.00 :)

x2boys · 02/03/2013 09:15

i,m assuming your a midwife as a nurse myself [ mental health ] if you need admission to hospital could you make it around 4pm and give me time to get all relevant paperwork done seen by doctor etc not 7pm to near the end of my shift thanks?

StrawberryMojito · 02/03/2013 09:16

I gave birth to my DS at 8.20am giving the early shift chance to start and the night shift chance to go home. I'm considerate like that.

TaggieCampbellBlack · 02/03/2013 09:18

22.40 is good.

Between 6.30 and 7.30 is particularly bad.

13.01 here - 40 mins after kick off. Placenta almost immediately after.

Think my MW was hoping for lunch at a reasonable time. Don't think she counted on a second degree tear requiring an hour and a half of Dr stitching and more gas and air because the local didn't work. We were all half starved for lunch after that lol!

I waited until 8.20am to have a cord prolapse on the ward with ds3. The doctors and registrar had just arrived on the ward and the mw had just come into our room to say good morning so good timing on my part!

LeaveTheBastid · 02/03/2013 09:20

I gave birth at 9.15am, gave the day staff a chance to get their coats off and have brew, always thinking of others even in such trying times Grin

Imnotaslimjim · 02/03/2013 09:20

I arrived at hospital at 7am on the Thursday, and had to wait til 8am to be checked over (by which time my labour had stalled and I was sent home)

I went back that evening and finally delivered at 6.24am the following morning! I felt really sorry for the MW's cos each time was a shift change!

ChestyLeRoux · 02/03/2013 09:21

I agree midwives wont look after you if you have a baby at that time.I had mine about 6am and they left me needing significant stitches. They didnt check me properly and then I had to go under general 4 months later very infected. Its cause they were rushing to go home.

Cavort · 02/03/2013 09:21

Currently 23 weeks and I will take this on board and try to avoid 6.30-7.30am. Grin

TaggieCampbellBlack · 02/03/2013 09:22

4am is also not good. I feel like curling up and dying around then.

Also they managed to not record I was in hospital and the next day when my mum rang they said they had never heard of me Shock

Sparklingbrook · 02/03/2013 09:23

I managed 7.30pm and 3.30am. Grin

tabulahrasa · 02/03/2013 09:23

for other reasons I knew the handover process pretty well and waited it out.

I was screaming like a banshee towards the end of it Grin I got lots of g&a for my troubles Smile

TaggieCampbellBlack · 02/03/2013 09:24

That was supposed to be Wink just in case anyone wondered what the missing vowel was... Or it could have been a very odd smiley, lol

BlackholesAndRevelations · 02/03/2013 09:25

3.15 pm and 11.20 am here

Sparklingbrook · 02/03/2013 09:26

I was only in labour for 35 minutes though with DS2 Taggie do I get Brownie points for that?

Moominsarescary · 02/03/2013 09:26

4am is the time I start to feel pretty crappy when on a night shift as well, I always had lots of chocolate for that time in the morning.

Ds1 was born at 5.15 am, he was probably my worse timed arrival Grin

TaggieCampbellBlack · 02/03/2013 09:27

Only of he was/is very cute and sqiudgy.
