to implore you not to push out ypur babies at 7.20 am?

It's all very lovely but it is such shocking timing when you've been awake for too many hours and hoping to be in bed by 8.

If you catch a dear little squidgy pink baby at 7.20. Then you have to wait for a placenta. Then cuddle. The write it all down coherently and legibly.

So if you could get it done an hour or so before 7 that would be super. Thanks.

The midwife who delivered DS1 had been there at the start, finished her shift, gone home and come back again.

She also goes to my mum's church and mum still cringes when she sees her re my language (13 years later)

The midwife who delivered DS2 was 5months pregnant and I remember trying to be Oh So Jolly so as not to scare her!

A midwife yanked me off the toilet at 7am and told me to stop pushing, shoved G&A at me and disappeared again. I was finally checked at 7:30 by the new shift and was allowed to resume service!

I arrived at hospital at about 7ish and fully dilated (I'm not well 'ard, my labour was just v fast!), I had a student midwife with me who said I could start pushing (not guided though iyswim) and popped out, and I could hear her talking to a colleague discussing how one midwife was stuck in traffic and the other had car trouble! They sounded a bit worried, so I think the others must have been otherwise occupied rather than desperate to get home. The lovely midwife sprinted in at about 8 and DS came at 8:14.

My MW had me from start to end of her shift AND then again when she came back on shift the next night. I was still there...not dilating!! Eventually came with me for my EMCS right before she finished her shift on the second night. Bet she was bloody happy to see the back of me!

Offered an episiotomy around 7 something ish am and turned it down. Baby delivered just after 8 by night mw, morning mw and morning student mw. Was brilliant having loads of cheer leaders. Only after did I realise poor night mw had stayed late ...

Oh you'd love me then! Two of mine were born between 6:30-7:30am.

Other one was born at tea time.

I managed 2.15am.......1.14pm ...and 2.40am with the last one, though we thought it wouldn't be for hours the midwife was filling in my notes and DS caught us on the hop when he shot out.

After the fact, it was rather funny to see the midwife with one hand on DS's head stopping him from going anywhere and the other pressing a button for another midwife and pead. Poor thing had only just sat down for few minutes

DD2 7.59pm and the midwife apparently got 'goo' on her face . I can't imagine I was popular... Can't remember tbh...

Actually my mw with DD2 also stayed over her shift - and she'd done a community shift as well, she was a bloody hero! Fortunately DD2 was a very fast, straightforward delivery.

I made sure to send a very, very nice card with a photo of mw and DD in it.

6.59pm on a Sunday by emcs. When the doctor said 'right lets do a c section' the theatre team appeared within about 5 seconds and got me on the table ready to go so fast that my dp nearly missed it. At the time I thought they just did it this way always so they were practiced for a proper emergency. Now I realise that they all just wanted to go home on time!

May I add a message to my oldies? Please do not die at 7.40 am. Again, the paprework at the end of the shift is just not needed.

More importantly, please do not die when you have not been seen by a doctor in the last week. Even if you are 98. I feel you should be allowed to die without permission at that age, however the coroner and the police feel differently and need to knock on the door and 'investigate' the sudden death. Luckily they were reasonable and went away on our explaining the patient was at the end stages of dementia (foetal position, no life) and had simply slipped away. However, I don't want to risk it again.

Oh dear.
I arrived shorty before handover, progressed very rapidly, was carrying prem twins at a small local hospital and they were pulling staff out of all sorts of places for the carnival that my delivery theatre turned out to be!
My midwife was jovially asking me not to 'rush' while I could hear frantic phonecalls trying to work out how long until our amazing paed consultant could get in - god knows how many speeding tickets she got that night! i also had neglected to bring my dh with me so someone had to sit with me for bloody hours afterwards.
Bet the staff absolutely loved me!
they were completely awesome though.

I had mine at 9.14 pm and 2.20 pm.

They both sound like reasonable times but, when I was having DD1, the lovely MW was supposed to finish her shift at 8.30 but she wanted to stay and deliver her so she stayed.

When I was having DD2 they were short staffed. The MW I had was supposed to be in AN clinic so I was BU by even being in labour! :o

Mine were born at 15.05 and 21.15.

Both times the midwife stayed over her shift time.
DS1's midwife was supposed to be attending a breastfeeding lecture and DS2's was supposed to finish at 22.00. DS2 had to go to SCBU and she came up to see me in my room before she left for home at about 23.00.

my midwife came over to check my waters had broke early evening then went for a little nap. I woke her the next morning with a nice cup of tea.

Ds was 10.30 am on a Sunday morning. The gynae wandered in to the op theatre (Spain) complaining loudly that I'd interrupted his Sunday morning coffee. Git.
