I've been reading the recent bra threads and love it when people are shocked to discover they are actually a 32F and not a 40A.

So, if you have recently had a bra intervention by Sorrel, SC and others, can you answer the following please:

What size were you wearing?
Who fitted you? (Name and shame please)
What size are you now?

That does look pretty big to me. But I'm gonna brave the bra shop again tomorrow again. I've saved that info about a good fitting bra to refer back to, thanks!

Persuasion · 28/02/2013 19:35

Arghhh, am feeling I made a big error this weekend. I was fitted before at bravissimo as 32F, but the back was starting to get tight (I'm 22weeks pregnant).

So I went to mothercare and got fitted. She told me I'm 36D. I felt pretty sceptical but went with it, especially as I was expecting the back size to have gone up. I tried bra's on in that size but I got 4 boob phenomena, so upped cup until it fit (36 F). They're not underwired, and although sit tight to my body under my boobs, the band pulls away in the middle between my boobs, if that makes sense?

Using the mumsnet measurement technique I come out at 31.5 underboob and 41 aroundboob. What does at make me now? Am I all wrong?

LegArmpits · 28/02/2013 19:38

WIBU to take all my gorgeous but badly fitting bras to M&S tomorrow and set fire to them in the lingerie section?

StatisticallyChallenged · 28/02/2013 19:39

That's a padded/moulded bra that lifts your knockers to high heaven btw Beksy.

Persuasion....NOOOOOOO! Your back feel tight because the cup is now too small. Going on those measurememts I would start you at a 32GG/H.

CelticPromise · 28/02/2013 19:39

32G or GG Persuasion, maybe even 30GG or H. You might find the 32 better if you're likely to expand!

Mothercare are adding four...

StatisticallyChallenged · 28/02/2013 19:40

You would not be unreasonable at all LegArmpits. One lady posted a thread about finding going back to wired bras painful - she had been misfitted in M&S. They refused to accept their mistake, refused to take them back, insisted they were the right size and that "it wasn't the bras, it was her"

StatisticallyChallenged · 28/02/2013 19:41

AH, yes sorry I can't actually count today - G/GG lol Persuasion!

Beksybob · 28/02/2013 19:42

Mine aren't big enough to be moved really. I mean, you can't make them touch if you try. I'm sure you wanted to know that Smile

Persuasion · 28/02/2013 19:49

Oh good god. Thank you! Although I'm now having a mini hormonal meltdown about having wasted the money...

Persuasion · 28/02/2013 19:53

And the fitter at mothercare told me she had only just been trained, so I assumed it would all be up to date and fresh in her mind!

StatisticallyChallenged · 28/02/2013 19:54

She will have been trained to do +4....

Beksybob · 28/02/2013 19:55

It's a great ego boost all this, but I think it will work in real life. How do women with massive big bazoongas get a bra if someone with little mounds like me is supposed to be an E? I see people all the time who must have a 30" difference in their back and boob size. That just can't work...

Beksybob · 28/02/2013 19:57

I don't think it will work in real life, sorry.

Shesparkles · 28/02/2013 20:00

Dh came in from work tonight and started giving me a funny look when we were chatting, then asked what I'd done with myself that was different-I pulled my top up and his eyes just about popped out of his head! What a result!!

Secondsop · 28/02/2013 20:04

I love these threads! I will post my measurements once I've got a tape measure because I had a bad time in Target in Aus yesterday trying to find a nursing bra. I was measured at Selfridges in London as a 38E pre pregnancy so just went up a cup size for nursing but i think it's too small - the bit in the middle doesnt sit properly against me and my boob shape (hardly anything under the nipple but loads above it, and droopy as heck) feels like it's still drooped in the bra. But target said that I looked like a DD at most and she said "an F really is a very big size". She suggested I go up a back size and she didnt understand at all when I asked her about whether I should be changing the cup size if I change band size.

QuickLookBusy · 28/02/2013 20:21

SheSparklesGrin

I've measured myself again, this time with bra off.

I'm 29.5 and 35.

Ta in advance.

redplasticspoon · 28/02/2013 20:23

I'm currently wearing 30d (fitted by bravissimo)

I'm 28 under bust, 35 round, what does this make me?

I'm interested as I would think bravissimo are pretty good.

NeverWinsMNComps · 28/02/2013 20:28

Oooh, Can anyone tell me what I should be doing with a 33 under and 38/39 around?

StatisticallyChallenged · 28/02/2013 20:31

Redplastic, on bare measurements it would be a 28 however, sometime sslim ladies have the opposite problem to squishy torsos in that sometimes you need a slightly larger back size. If you are particularly "bony" then you may need to add a couple of inches to the back for comfort. You could however try a 28F and see how it feels.

NeverWins, try a 32E/F ish to start with

Shesparkles, stat at a 30DD

NeverWinsMNComps · 28/02/2013 20:39

E/F? Leaping lizards! I'm a little overwhelmed to think I might actually have real boobs! I'm going to sprint out to try one out tomorrow, but I bet this thread fills up before I get to report back. Thanks!

redplasticspoon · 28/02/2013 20:42

Thank you statistically, that was quick! So if I find a 28 too tight, should I try a 30ee?

To think I was fitted as a 34a by La Senza not too long ago Hmm

SlightlyConfusedAlwaysMad · 28/02/2013 20:43

Could someone advise me please I'm 41, 46 currently wearing a 42b

itsblackoveryonderhill · 28/02/2013 20:45

Hi Ladies

I put my measurements up last night (32 & 41, but satsumas in sock boobs) and even though I normally go to Bravissimo I've not been able to go for yonks. I've been strutting my stuff in some 34E's I bought about 8 months ago and I do know my boobs have changed shape if not in volume because I started to get overspill in the armpit area. I don't know why, I've not put on any weight or anything.

So, know that a) my bra isn't fitting as nice as it should; and b) being prompted by this wonderful thread, I decided to go bra shopping after work today.

I tried on some 32G's in Debenhams in their gorgeous range and jesus, never mind the 2 finger thing in the strap, I couldn't even breath, although I could fasten it. So I had to go up to a 34 back, but fastened on the middle hooks, which I knows isn't ideal, but the slackest hooks on 32's would mean I would have had to take constant shallow breaths! I tried on a number of styles and some 32's fitted, but G cups were too small onced I'd done scoopage. I tried 32GG's in those styles and the cups were gaping.

I ended up buying 34G's and with scoopage, my under arm bulge is massively reduced, but there is still some there. I don't know if this 'bulge' is now normal or is boob or just plain old back fat/loose skin.

I've told DH that we need to book a day where he can have DD all day, I can go into bravissimo and spend a leisurely few hours trying on their bras to determine what bra is my 'new bra'.

Before I had DD I lived if panache porcelain bra and I tried this on in John Lewis in both a 32GG and 34G. In either one with scoopage I got the underarm bulge and it just felt uncomfortable.

So the moral of the story is that I'm just waiting for my 2 new 34G bras to be washed so that I'll have a lovely bra for tomorrow with a reduced underarm bulge. Oh and the best bit is they didn't even cost me anything because I used some vouchers we've had for yonks! Grin

FreyaSnow · 28/02/2013 20:47

could somebody also advise me please? My measurements are 35 and 45. I am in a 36DD.

StatisticallyChallenged · 28/02/2013 20:48

If a 28 is too tight then your 30D may be fine, but I would try a 30DD/E just to be on the safe side. Bravissimo are generally good but not infallible!

SlightlyConfused - try a 40E to start but be prepared to try a lower back size e.g. a 38F/FF as sometimes slightly larger ladies need a smaller back than they measure for support
