To threaten 'D'H with divorce if he ever refers to Labyrinth as "that rubbish" again.

DD and I love to sit and watch Labyrinth, we both love the Goblin King (albeit for different reasons as she is 5, and I am... not).

DH has declared it rubbish, I am most put out - I may have been cross about it for hours now - as even without Bowie appeal I think it's a fabulously imaginative film that definitely stands the test of time.

He thinks she should be watching something a bit more modern.

I think he's being a twat and thoroughly enjoy loud tuneless renditions of 'Dance Magic' with DD.

I am considering divorcing him for his clear lack of taste lighthearted threat... maybe

YANBU!

MissyMooandherBeaverofSteel · 03/01/2013 00:53

It is the best film of all time (probably) LTB.

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 03/01/2013 00:53

He is a fool. LTB!

Although maybe the eternal mystery of what David Bowie has stuffed in his tights is lost on him somewhat? (my theory - cheese and onion pasty and a packet of ringos)

GothAnneGeddes · 03/01/2013 00:57

YANBU!

Wonderful film, a classic.

Tallalime · 03/01/2013 00:59

Ah Ringos - do they still make those? When pondering what happened to great snacks of the past I hadn't considered that David Bowie had them down his tights...

Perhaps less dramatic than divorce I am considering teaching DD to declare "you have no power over me" in a dramatic fashion when DH next orders her to tidy up her mess juvenile

^^ that is genius! You definitely should!

And Yanbu

But you should LTB

DizzyPurple · 03/01/2013 01:15

I agree LTB Haha! Never said it before. I love that film! Especially the little worm in the wall. And the bog of eternal stench. Might have to watch it tomorrow. My nephew is called Toby after the baby in the film.

pumpkinsweetieMasPudding · 03/01/2013 01:19

Yanbu-It's one of The greatest films of all time, it's up there with all the other classics such as Drop Dead Fred, Mary Poppins, Wizard Of Oz, E.T, avaitor etc
Timeless classics are still great many years later unlike some of these crap modern films (not all of them, obviously).

pumpkinsweetieMasPudding · 03/01/2013 01:22

My 2yo even has a red and white stripy onesie like Toby in the film and as newborn all my dds had a red & white stripy suit, i even used to sing "dance magic dance" to them and still do Smile

we watched ET today! I consider it a vital part in my dd's education. She's 3. One of the girls at work yesterday had never seen the sound of music. I was Shocked! Hopefully she'll sort that now.

I reintroduced DD to Labyrinth last week after she declared it 'boring' last year Shock

She LOVED it especially when I told her Jareth has the same birthday as her (well Bowie does but YKWIM) and she keeps saying "hoggle, what did you do?" to DH when he drops things etc hehe DH doesn't get it but was engrossed when it was on Grin

MooseBeTimeForCoffee · 03/01/2013 02:11

Makes me think fondly back to Flight of the Navigator

"Compliance!"

MurderOfGoths · 03/01/2013 02:14

I might possibly have Flight of the Navigator on DVD Blush I so wanted the little alien as a pet when I was a kid!

MooseBeTimeForCoffee · 03/01/2013 02:18

Murder you mean this one? Smile

MurderOfGoths · 03/01/2013 02:22

Oh yes, it was sooo cute!

MooseBeTimeForCoffee · 03/01/2013 02:28

I'm going to have to download it and watch it again!

charlieandthechocolatecake · 03/01/2013 02:58

I watched this film every day all through my summer holidays as a child when I visited my aunt. Coincidently she was put on LCP today. I hope to remind her of this memory if she is still here when I visit on Monday.

Thanks OP. You made my day Smile

Lavenderhoney · 03/01/2013 03:09

I have never seen labyrinth or heard of it! What age is best for it? And the sound of music, I liked that but the bit where they escape is very scary if I remember rightly?

trixymalixy · 03/01/2013 03:38

I had red and white stripy babygrows for my DC too. So cute.
