To threaten 'D'H with divorce if he ever refers to Labyrinth as "that rubbish" again.

DD and I love to sit and watch Labyrinth, we both love the Goblin King (albeit for different reasons as she is 5, and I am... not).

DH has declared it rubbish, I am most put out - I may have been cross about it for hours now - as even without Bowie appeal I think it's a fabulously imaginative film that definitely stands the test of time.

He thinks she should be watching something a bit more modern.

I think he's being a twat and thoroughly enjoy loud tuneless renditions of 'Dance Magic' with DD.

I am considering divorcing him for his clear lack of taste lighthearted threat... maybe

Lavender - it's got something for any age really (as you can see from the drooling (ahem) above Grin )

The Neverending Story , while not in the same league, isn't too bad either.

[Studiously ignores Aethelfleda's barefaced begging]

MoomieAndFreddie · 03/01/2013 20:59

oh i love this film

jellybeans · 03/01/2013 21:00

YANBU, great film!

CarriedAwayAnnie · 03/01/2013 21:04

I've never heard of it either

Loveagoodbargain · 05/01/2013 22:49

Best film of all time for sure . DH may well fall into the bog of eternal stench for declaring this film is rubbish! Dance Magic Dance possibly most outstanding feature of any film. . . Ever. teaches about friendships and is great fun. Never ever stop watching it. My DH has same opinion but will never win the argument. Ha ha

ravenAK · 05/01/2013 22:52

LTB!

Dh & I had our first copping-off type dance to 'Dance Magic' at a cheesy 80s/alternative night. The heel came off my boot & I fell on my arse, it was terribly romantic.

We all love it in this house. My DD and I do the 'you remind me of the babe' thing. And DH puts socks on his ears and does a Ludo impersonation - 'Sawah fwend'.
So, YANBU.

KatyPeril · 05/01/2013 23:02

It's the only film to ever scare me. Even now. Sad

pointedlynoresolutions · 06/01/2013 17:03

I really love the final section with the MC Escher-inspired staircases - lovely cultural reference there. And Jareth's last song is amazing. It's probably my favourite film ever.

MoomieAndFreddie · 06/01/2013 17:21

oh the staircases at the end are soooo cool

i did my GCSE final art exam piece based on all those staircases. Blush

2kidsintow · 06/01/2013 17:28

I love that film and nagged my kids until they gave in and watched it too.

DD1 doesn't like it, but DD2 has been a convert.

I, too, have the soundtrack and like to sing along loudly in the car.

Shock

YANDBU! That's awful behaviour from him Wink

YY teach DD to say that, that'd be brilliant. Also teach her that Daddy has touched a toe in the bog of eternal stench. And to recite the beginning of Dance Magic with you.

DP and I are massive fans of Labyrinth, when in college we'd greet each other by reciting the beginning of Dance Magic Blush We wwatched it the week before last, may need to watch it again Grin

WifeofPie · 06/01/2013 17:35

Don't threaten him...LEAVE THE BASTARD IMMEDIATELY.

HecatePropolos · 06/01/2013 17:37

Every time I watch that film I think if that had been me, I'd have stayed with him! Grin

ConfusedPixie · 06/01/2013 17:39

I was watching the making of the dance magic scene on the special edition DVD and it's amazing, all those puppets! I love the Jim Henson Company puppets Grin Especially Rygel from Farscape.

JakeBullet · 06/01/2013 17:48

"Ludo. .frieeennnd".

Fabulous film.....

Love live the ending where Sarah suddenly realises "you have no power over me".

Incidentally baby Toby is now a lighting engineer as I recall.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 06/01/2013 18:05

Ahem

tiredteddy · 06/01/2013 18:24

I called my ds2 Toby and made sure he was dressed in a red white striped babygro! Cute. Absolutely love then film.

JakeBullet · 06/01/2013 18:37

You have no power over me Jareth Grin

JakeBullet · 06/01/2013 18:38

Oh tiredteddy that is such a neat idea.... Why didn't I think of it?

JarethTheGoblinKing · 06/01/2013 18:46
Grin
pointedlynoresolutions · 06/01/2013 19:14

Oh, you can have all the power you want over me, Jareth

JarethTheGoblinKing · 06/01/2013 19:21

There's a particularly fetching photo of me on my profile, should you care to take a look Grin
