to not stop with the laundry on Christmas Day?

My washing machine is my best friend. Sad

I think he'd feel lonely if his knobs weren't twiddled with on Crhistmas Day.

I don't think I could survive the guilt of feeling he was neglected.

I'll bet I'm not the only one...

I'm going to stick a load in in a few minutes (woolies that will go on the airer in the spare room) and do another on Boxing Day.

nannyl · 24/12/2012 21:29

mine will be on

we are going away on boxing day and will want the clothes (clean) to take.

I have done all the colours today
and towels / bath mat
and a load of cloth nappies (dd now in disposables until 27th)

will do the whitey pale stuff tomorrow, including DDs pjs from tonight, so fresh to take away with us.

I wont be washing on boxing day OR 27th though!

Wallace · 24/12/2012 21:33

I won't be doing any washing.

Bet ds wets his bed...

FundusCrispyPancake · 24/12/2012 21:48

I will be putting a load in tomorrow. DD is in cloth nappies so it can't wait or I will run out.

2 adults and 1 baby in cloth nappies only makes a load every other day in this house.

The nappy wash only has an extra 20 min rinse, no idea how the poster upthread makes one last all day :-S

Wallace · 24/12/2012 22:14

I've no idea where our washing comes from - I did about 25 loads last week :( That was more than usual because I did sort out all the crap that lives in the washing basket. And dd tidied her room...

We do have a very small drum. And the bigger kids get the bigger their clothes.

ravenAK · 24/12/2012 22:20

It'll be on tomorrow. Else I won't be able to contain The Pile within this post code (overnight guests tomorrow, dc in a frenzy of bed-changing tonight to go with their Xmas pyjamas).

No big deal - bang, slam, drape duvets over doors.

HellonHeels · 24/12/2012 22:49

I just got a new machine today so it will actually be fun to use it on CD Xmas Smile

naturalbaby · 24/12/2012 22:59

3 loads a day?! We are a family of 5, one in cotton nappies and I still manage to have a day or two off every week.

EasilyBored · 24/12/2012 23:15

There's only three of us, but I would estimate we do about 4 loads a week maximum. I don't know where all this washing is coming from? I wash tops after one wear, but it still doesn't come up to three loads a day. That's madness! Hope you're not in a water meter!

Wallace · 25/12/2012 12:32

Surprise surprise I did have to do a load of washing because ds2 wet the bed...

dishwashervodkaanddietirnbru · 25/12/2012 14:05

I have a load on just now. I dont mind doing washing, its the rest of the housework I hate!

Bunbaker · 25/12/2012 14:08

But you need to look at why you feel the need to do so much washing.

5madthings · 25/12/2012 17:26

I did a load last night and have a load in the machine waiting to go on. Plus a load of towels that need doing. Fairly mimimal day housework wise tho, washed up bfast and lunch pots and dinner is cooking. Have tidied up wrapping stuff as we have gone along and i swept the floor. Dp now home from work and kids are building lego, watching charlie and chocolate factory.

thismumismad · 25/12/2012 18:10

just don't be doing any washing on new years day

mumnotmachine · 25/12/2012 18:25

Mines on its 4th cycle today

dishwashervodkaanddietirnbru · 25/12/2012 19:06

Mine has done 2 today, one had dh's new shirts in to soften them before wearing.

WildWorld2004 · 25/12/2012 21:26

The only bit of housework i have done today is 2 loads of washing. Took no longer than 5 mins to load machine twice, unload twice & hang up 2 loads of washing. Dont see the big deal.

Bunbaker · 25/12/2012 21:40

"Mines on its 4th cycle today"

Why? Are you the old woman who lived in a shoe? Or are you a very messy family?

NumericalMum · 25/12/2012 21:46

4 loads a day? Do you have 20 children? There are 3 adults and a child here and I manage 3 loads a week plus a load of bedding every week! I have a large drum but not enormous...

Meglet · 25/12/2012 21:52

Yanbu. There's 3 of us and I do 2 loads every day.

I wash towels after every other use and like to keep on top of my work clothes + DS's uniform. Doing it in big loads means there's no where to dry it, and I refuse to iron so try to use the airer and not use the tumble dryer too much.

Bunbaker · 25/12/2012 22:03

"There's 3 of us and I do 2 loads every day"

There are three of us and I do 3 - 4 loads a week. I only ever do full loads and wash towels and bedding once a week.

oldraver · 25/12/2012 22:10

I love washing...though wont do it at Christmas

sugarandspiced · 25/12/2012 22:13

How do you manage to do 2 loads a day for only three people? Why do you need to wash towels after every use?

I guess you just enjoy doing the laundry.

PoppyWearer · 25/12/2012 22:17

This thread made me get organised. I did as much yesterday as possible and twiddled no knobs today.

Laundry basket is overflowing and we used most of the teatowels, so will be washing tomorrow for definite.

FanjoTimeMammariesAndWine · 25/12/2012 22:18
