to not stop with the laundry on Christmas Day?

My washing machine is my best friend. Sad

I think he'd feel lonely if his knobs weren't twiddled with on Crhistmas Day.

I don't think I could survive the guilt of feeling he was neglected.

I'll bet I'm not the only one...

Will take me 10 mins tops to get it done, won't be putting any away Xmas day.

Hardly going to spoil my day Hmm

WhyMeWhyNot · 22/12/2012 11:21

I twiddle knobs when they need twiddling. If that happens to be on CD then no problem. Overflowing laundry baskets not a good look for visitors Smile

RacHoHoHog · 22/12/2012 11:26

Another one who does at least 1 load a day, and I have a 9kg drum. I will prob put a load on too.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 22/12/2012 11:27

It won't impact on my ability to drink wine and play with my kids Xmas Hmm

slartybartfast · 22/12/2012 11:29

but where will they hang, will the make the place look untidy

Hulababy · 22/12/2012 11:32

I can't imagine needing to do that much washing. We do about 3 loads a week - normally all on a Saturday, ready to be put away and for DH to iron on a Sunday.

I won't be going nearer the washing machine til a few days after Christmas unless we have an emergency.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 22/12/2012 11:33

That is why I will only do undies and pjs etc - it can all be tumbled. I have an airer in our study upstairs so it isn't underfoot - never have washing in the living room or anything.

dementedma · 22/12/2012 11:33

another thread about how much washing everyone does - 5 of us in this house and no way will i be doing laundry on christmas day. No need to. One day's laundry does not a mountain make..

GwendolineMaryLacedwithBrandy · 22/12/2012 11:38

3+ loads? House full of who, all santa's elves??

StNiChaolas · 22/12/2012 11:42

There's just the 6 of us, Gwen.

I think I am just smote with a PileWithNoBottom.

Sigj.

Mind you, I can relate. There's only 4 of us and my washing baskets are constantly overflowing.

jojane · 22/12/2012 11:47

My machine is kaput! DH been taking washing to his dads on way to and from work this week but is now off so washing is going to slowly pile up until we can go get one in Xmas sales!

Hulababy · 22/12/2012 11:48

Are you all people who wash everything after one wear, and bedding very frequently too?

firawla · 22/12/2012 11:49

I would just do it, it only takes a min and you dont wanna have loads to catch up

RandallPinkFloyd · 22/12/2012 11:51

6 people would necessitate 9 loads in 2 days? Double Shock

fluffygal · 22/12/2012 11:53

7 of us here, we do 3 loads at the weekend, then go down the launderette to tumbledry. I have an industrial sized washing machine but do not wash everything after 24 hours like some people seem to?

StNiChaolas · 22/12/2012 11:54

No three loads a day.

3 on Christmas Day.
3 on Boxing Day.
3 on BoxingBoxing Day.

Ad infinitum...

OP posts:
Daddelion · 22/12/2012 11:56

What do you find to wash to do three loads a day?

EuroShagmore · 22/12/2012 11:56

Absolutely not. It's supposed to be a day of celebration and feasting. I don't celebrate by sticking skiddy nicks in the washing machine.

ceeveebee · 22/12/2012 11:58

Not a chance will I be putting any laundry on Xmas day. Who wants to hear the washer spinning away in the background?
Luckily we have enough clothes for us all to last ooh 2 weeks or so before I'd need to start worrying. Do you wash every day on holiday too?

PoppyWearer · 22/12/2012 11:59

I am so fed up of the fecking laundry. All I want to do is wrap presents. That is all. But no, I must wash sheets and DS has peed on yet another towel (disclaimer: he's 1yo) and everyone keeps wearing clothes (most unreasonable!). And of course I will want DCs to wear nice Christmas clothes tomorrow, and Christmas Eve and the big day itself...which will inevitably mean washing will Need Doing.

My DD said yesterday "yay, we all get the week off". I explained very sadly that Mummy does not get the week off at Christmas.

FTR, DH is pulling his weight, has taken DD out of my hair for a couple of hours to tire her out whilst DS naps and I get on...with the ironing and making beds.

Happy washing Christmas everyone!

akaemmafrost · 22/12/2012 12:01

YANBU. But then I go for 10 to 15 km runs on Christmas Day so I might not be normal Grin.

JollyGolightly · 22/12/2012 12:01

YANBU. If I don't do the obligatory 2 loads a day, everything will go very wrong in my world.

ceeveebee · 22/12/2012 12:03

What will all your DHs be doing? Bet they won't be worrying about the pile of dirty clothes.

forevergreek · 22/12/2012 12:19

No way. I dont wash that much ever!

We will prob put a wash on tomorrow, then not again until the following weekend.
