to not stop with the laundry on Christmas Day?

My washing machine is my best friend. Sad

I think he'd feel lonely if his knobs weren't twiddled with on Crhistmas Day.

I don't think I could survive the guilt of feeling he was neglected.

I'll bet I'm not the only one...

Dh folds and puts away the laundry. He will also be OCD-ing over where each bit of wrapping paper, boxes etc goes in recycling. And helping cremate Xmas dinner.

fryingpantoface · 22/12/2012 12:58

There's 3 of us, 1 is 15 months, and if we don't do 2 loads a day it all piles up massively.

We've only got a small, 5kg, washing machine though. When we move we're getting a bigger one

5madthings · 22/12/2012 12:58

I will stick a load in at some point as with seven of us there is always laundry. I will then chuck it in the tumbke dryer and it will get dumped upstaurs, it wont get folded or put away.

I need to make sure the washing is up to date as we away on the 27th dec so will need stuff to take with us.

I will try not to, but then I have a kitchen/dining/living open space and it's more that I don't want to listen to it.

Mrsrudolphduvall · 22/12/2012 15:02

I am going to try to have a wash free day on 25th.
I normally do 3 loads a day, and have done 11 today. Shock

No wonder my washing machine lasts about a year.

MamaWomanAha · 22/12/2012 15:19

Mrs 11 Shock !!!

Is everybody sat in your house naked???

forevergreek · 22/12/2012 15:22

Do you have 15 children? We do 3 a week! Not a day

Ephiny · 22/12/2012 15:23

We normally only do laundry at weekends, so unlikely to do any on Christmas day. But I don't see why not, if it's your usual routine and it needs doing. It only takes a minute.

ceres · 22/12/2012 15:36

i always put a wash on christmas day - clear the table, load the dishwasher, bung the table cloth, tea towels etc in the machine.

seems daft not to, the machines do the work.

I did the beds, towels, bath mats.
I think I have a fear of not having anything clean to wear.

Have just ironed everything.

RandallPinkFloyd · 22/12/2012 18:41

2 loads a day for 2 adults and one toddler Xmas Shock

I'm definitely doing it wrong, I do about 3-4 a week for 1 adult and 1 toddler!

LittleChristmasBearPad · 22/12/2012 18:46

How is there even time to do 11 loads. I really really don't understand where all this washing is coming from. Do you wash bedlinen and towels every day or something? You really don't need to.

Hulababy · 22/12/2012 18:50

2 adults and a 10y DD. 3 loads of washing a week, sometimes a 4th.

Hulababy · 22/12/2012 18:52

11 loads in one day??? How? Do you have several washing machines? We physically couldn't do it in our machine I am sure?

RandallPinkFloyd · 22/12/2012 18:53

I couldn't do 11 loads even if I wanted to.

Not if I washed every piece of fabric in my house!

(That's regardless of that fact that my washing machine takes almost 3 hours)

LemonBreeland · 22/12/2012 18:55

Some of these amounts of laundry are crazy. I do 5-6 loads a week for 5 of us.

Are you washing towels after every use? I couldn't find that much washing in my house

PogoBob · 22/12/2012 19:59

I'll be doing a load if there is one that needs doing - with a toddler that creates washing and DC2 due on the 28th I can't afford to fall behind!!

LittleMissKitschmas · 22/12/2012 20:02

I'm clearing a backlog, if we're in it's running at the minute :(

dementedma · 22/12/2012 20:03

People doing two loads a day really need to rethink their energy consumption. What the hell do you find to wash?

ViperInTheManger · 22/12/2012 20:05

Absolutely not! Christmas is a day of celebration so bugger all housework.

HoHoHokeyCokeyPigInAPokey · 22/12/2012 20:06

4 of us, dds wear uniform, come home and get changed, dh wears a suit, comes home and gets changed.

I always seem to have loads of washing. Have done three loads today and just put it on again now.

ginmakesitallok · 22/12/2012 20:07

We do probably 6 loads a week - 2 adults and 2 children. There is NO WAY I will be doing washing on Christmas day, hell I might not even do any on Boxing day either (and Christmas Eve is questionable..)

misdee · 22/12/2012 20:07

I think washing 10+ nappies a day, plus clothes for 8 children warrants 2+ loads a day.
