The bf one I found quite plausible, hadn't thought about it being a set up but yes I know people who that has happened to so wouldn't have suspected a troll

AF I'll let you into a little secret.
I am more of a lurker than a poster (festive NC at present) but, when I read a thread and see you're on it, giving blunt direct advice with excellent use of expletives I think "it's OK, AF is on the case - she'll see the OP right". Also, I can get too emotionally invested in things, so restrain myself from getting involved - but am reassured that someone is saying and asking and showing things that are -what- useful? Forthright? Honest? All those.

It's mainly the relationship threads and the odd feminist one - I think you give sound comments and have the best intentions at heart.

What I'm trying to say is, don't stop posting just because the population under the bridges are increasing - then they've "won" and your voice of reason will have gone to waste. You're thought a lot of, by me anyway and it would be a shame if this got to you.

Anyway, I don't get trolls either. But there are so many things I don't get: being unkind to animals, bumsex, Cadbury's chocolate, Doomsday phatasists - the list goes on and on. I have not had an on-line presence before MN (4 years or so) and I have just come to accept that just like in RL basterds can be anywhere. Except on-line you don't have the added info of facial expressions (cute as emoticons are) or body language.
So I stay wary.
And report - quite rarely actually.
