I think I'm definitely an outsider on MN, my kids arent gifted, we aren't rich, dammit we both have the work, full time! we don't live in a castle, shopat waitrose and certainly don't eat this good ham that y'all talk about Grin

Maybe I just go back under my rock?

then crap telly till I go to bed, which will be before them as they need to stay up to watch match of the day...which means they'll be crabbit as sin tomorrow and fight all day

happy days

Did the decs last night ready for today Xmas Grin been out at the posh garden centre, took dc to see santa to get it out of the way and did pasta bake for tea. Which goes lovely with my wine Xmas Grin

I really have to say if anyone lives near cadburys garden centre nr weston I really can't emphasise how lovely their father christmas is. He had a small group of them in a room told stories and sang carols with them, he told them what the reindeers and elves like to eat and made so many jokes that the dc loved. It was really really lovely and I've never seen a santa like that. and I'm half convinced he was the real one

wewereherefirst · 01/12/2012 18:46

Evening all! We had gammon, mash and frozen veg for tea tonight.

Ds1 is out with DH and I have a very awake baby who should be going to bed right now but I doubt he will...

Anyone know how long a bottle of wine will 'last' once open? I can only have the one glass and it would be a shame to throw the rest away as it wouldn't get drunk. Then I hope to attempt more Christmas present wrapping as I want it all out of the way!

Baby in bed - check
DS's in my bed watching film - check
Me MNing with alcohol - check

Everything going to plan. Merry Christmas everyone! Shall we put up tinsel in the cave? Xmas Grin

cantspel · 01/12/2012 19:09

Cant do my christmas decs until i finish the decorating and get the new carpet down so they wont go up until the weekend after next.

I am knacked and crashed out waiting for the start of xfactor.

Number 1 son is upstairs xboxing and number 2 son is in the dining room xboxing. I can hear their random chatter to who ever they are online with but otherwise i am ignoring them.
Everyone one is fed apart from my husband and he can do his own later.

Rose is bad? According the the posh 'uns? They lie! Wink

lifeintheolddogyet · 01/12/2012 21:36

May I join? The DCs attend walk five minutes to our Ofsted 'satisfactory' school because we couldn't be bothered to move house and we shop at Asda. And I'm not really bothered if they become 'top people' or not. Grin

InNeedOfBrandyButter · 01/12/2012 21:38

Oh Oh I have another one, I have tinsel on my tree that I decorated myself Xmas Blush

JugglingWithPossibilities · 01/12/2012 21:53

We had jacket potatoes for tea - microwaved plus a bit of crisping up in oven - (I was feeling posh today)Wink with microwaved macaroni cheese from Co-op, and a bit of cheese on top. I did have a bit of home-made-ish pear chutney on mine though - which I bought from a market stall in the Fens this morning.
So my chutney may have saved me with my boden wearing MN friends, but my micro-wave macaroni cheese hopefully secures my place here in the cosy under rock Grin

We ate it on our knees watching Strictly of course - what else is there on a Saturday night in November December ?

MadameOneSword · 01/12/2012 23:58

Evening lovelies! Dh's aunt and replies visiting so MIL came round to make sure I didn't fuck things up everything was going swell...he cooked kids and us a nice casserole while I stood by her and drank wine watched intently to gather tips for future Grin

We have then drank a lot of wine, played just dance on te wii...kids went to bed far to late (about an hour ago) so we're carrying on the wine drinking....this Christmas replies thing isn't actually that bad!!! Xmas Wink

balroymum · 02/12/2012 10:50

I have just been flamed on a non-cave Christmas thread for serving yorkie puds with Xmas dinner- homemade ones too! Typical. Who else is guilty then?!

InNeedOfBrandyButter · 02/12/2012 10:54

We always have yorkies with christmas dinner, well a big homemade square one ripped into pieces. Christmas dinner should be about all the best bits of a roast and a yorkie is on the top 3 of best bits IMO.

balroymum · 02/12/2012 10:56

Quite right brandy butter, quite right.

MadameOneSword · 02/12/2012 12:09

I wholeheartedly agreed...why would you not have yorkshires?......bet they can't cook em balroy and they're jealous!

OP posts:
Fifis25StottieCakes · 02/12/2012 12:40

Imagine the flaming if you had said Yorkies, Bisto Gravy and Paxo stuffing.

I love homemade Yorkies, i cant imagine a diner without them, or bisto or paxo stuffing

InNeedOfBrandyButter · 02/12/2012 13:01

We have bisto, with the meat juice added in and a good slug of wine, tastes lovely. I quite like paxo stufing to. I do love home made from scratch yorkies though but have been known to pull out aunt bessie ones.

MadameOneSword · 02/12/2012 13:19

Homemade deffo better, but we do have frozen sometime, we're an Aunt Bessie's gravy family. Hmmmm. Made my mouth water just the thought!

This thread made me remember to book my tesco on line xmas shop.

MadameOneSword · 02/12/2012 16:20

How fifi- were you watching it thinking, Christ I hope I don't run in to any of these sods in tesco's? Xmas Wink

OP posts:
Fifis25StottieCakes · 02/12/2012 16:33

Yes the shame of putting Paxo Stuffing in the trolley. Thought it best i go online undercover or i could run across a mn'er on the till Xmas Smile

InNeedOfBrandyButter · 02/12/2012 16:48

I really like those chickens in asda and morrisons (don't think tesco do them) where they already have a stuffing inside them. Mmm bloody lovely stuffing that is to.
