I think I'm definitely an outsider on MN, my kids arent gifted, we aren't rich, dammit we both have the work, full time! we don't live in a castle, shopat waitrose and certainly don't eat this good ham that y'all talk about Grin

Maybe I just go back under my rock?

My not an i pad/pod/phone won't let me open your link but perhaps I don't need to : they have a special category for 'above the knee' dresses and the dress is called 'Maggie.' Nuff said. (waits for lots of lovely Maggies to throw things at me.)

cantspel · 29/11/2012 23:35

I took my husband to a carvery last month for his birthday. I even paid the extra £1.50 to have the larger plate and extra meat.
I really know how to spoil him.

butterfingerz · 29/11/2012 23:48

I'm from Salford so I think I beat you all hands down.

And if you wanna be down with real downlow MNetters, you'd be chugging back dishwasher vodka not lidl baileys, lightweights...

MrsRhettButler · 30/11/2012 00:31

But I can't afford a dishwasher :(

MrsRhettButler · 30/11/2012 00:34

Hello! We're under a rock here! Grin

VforViennetta · 30/11/2012 01:29

Our treat is to go to a carvery, actually not really cos there isn't a carvery around here Grin Our treat is to go to a harvester, up yours boden types Grin.

I had actually not even heard of Boden before Mn, it's like posh Next, pointlessly expensive, like GAP. I'll stick to Primark or Tesco 3 packs of tops for £6, they do the job and are probably made in the same sweat shop.

MadameOneSword · 30/11/2012 06:56

Lol! I love carvers and harvester (steak and ribs....mmmmm)

Sometimes I don't think these people know what they're missing

Evening fellow commoners, how was your day?

OP posts:
InNeedOfBrandy · 30/11/2012 22:17

Evening madame, hope your dc are feeling better.

I have just put up my tree ready for tomorrow, the christmas fairy has put it up and is leaving advent calenders tomorrow. She's so much less scary then those weird pale elf things.

MadameOneSword · 30/11/2012 22:50

Aw what a lovely thing to be ready for, how old are dc's? Still young enough for the fairy magic loveliness?

My dd's have stopped expelling things involuntarily and are now just lying around like deflated hot air balloons being grumpy and lying around exhausted bless them, they're perking up occasionally to say something nasty to the other one,..which is a good sign right?

I have 5 of dh's relatives arriving here at about 9am tomorrow morning, which is clearly why I'm putting off any housework or tidying and messing around on the Internet. Husband has been called in to a last minute night shift which not only means he gets out of helping, child care or tidying...but also being around to greet the bastards guests. He did call to just reiterate the fact that I should be normal knob ... What does that even mean???

OP posts:
JugglingWithPossibilities · 30/11/2012 23:04

Be normal = don't tidy for his rellies (just a suggestion !)

InNeedOfBrandy · 30/11/2012 23:10

5 and almost 7, think this will be the last yera dd really whole heartedly believes.

Aw madame you got a lot on your plate, I would of cancelled and explained. I hope and I'll keep fingers crossed you don't catch the dc's bug when the rellies are there!

balroymum · 30/11/2012 23:13

Pants day at work. Getting everything wrong- can't be arsed! Ate a ready meal for my tea. It wasn't Marksies either. Mossas all the way. Bloody lovely. DD didn't have a ready meal though; she had oven chips, tinned corn and fish bites (fish bites what?!) On second bottle of cheap red. Wearing a track suit. It's all glam in our house....

I agree with juggling- down with cleaning for the rellies! Good luck for tomorrow though Madame!

redwallday · 30/11/2012 23:24

The only cheese I really like is Dairylea cheese slices. Says it all really Grin

MadameOneSword · 01/12/2012 00:20

Lol! I would love too see his face if he rocked in from work tomorrow and kids laundry still hung over sofa nd his granny sitting on two weeks worth of ironing! Hmm actually sounds okay, I'm suspicious of last minute call in though lol....doesn't seem to be any major disasters in news lol

Sorry your day was so shut balroy, but I can offer you Doritos, they go well with cheap red I find.

OP posts:
MadameOneSword · 01/12/2012 00:21

I like cheese slices outfoxed but I must say, we prefer the smart price ones here lol, actually through choice not necessity which is a nice change lol, they go lovely in a ketchup sandwich

attention attention attention all rock dwellers*

A quote from another thread
"
"I had a very similar friendship for 14years - we ended it about 6 months ago as we had both changed, and I was finding that her presence in my life had no purpose."

Does this actually happen, is it just me being floored by this? I mean is this what adults do where ive been going wrong?

OP posts:
ssd · 01/12/2012 10:19

what a load of shite, her presence in my life had no purpose.....honestly Grin

bet the pal is upset she's been dumped not

MadameOneSword · 01/12/2012 10:55

I'm genuinely shocked, people actually talk like this? This is an epidemic clearly!

OP posts:
ssd · 01/12/2012 10:58

numptys people must talk like that, thankfully I dont know any Grin

wewereherefirst · 01/12/2012 13:37

Am I the only one who is thankful for just having friends? Grin

Convert · 01/12/2012 17:27

Evening all Grin

Right, so I really like the 'what are you doing this evening/having for tea?' type threads but thought we could have our own so it doesn't turn in to 'We are all having roasted cauliflower with an asparagus jus, then playing chess by the fire'

I will start....I was going to give the kids sausage and mash for tea but DD starting screaming the moment we walked in to tesco and wouldn't be carried or walk holding hands (she's 16months) so I grabbed a case of bulmers, waited in the queue behind a woman who had approx 15 thousand coupons to scan, paid for my beer and got the hell out of there.
So due to the lack of food I took the DC to mcdonalds for tea Grin I am about to bath them, put dd to bed and plonk Ds1 & 2 in front of a christmas film I have sky+ for them.
DH will be working til about half ten by which point I plan to have watched shit tv and drunk case of bulmers and be fast asleep sprawled over his side of the bed and dribbling on his pillow.

Anyone else wish to share their evening of bliss? Xmas Grin

MyloMash · 01/12/2012 18:16

Well, ds had fish fingers and chips for tea and I'm currently attempting these fucking christmas lights Angry and trying to get him interested in a muppets christmas carol. Will be putting him to bed in half an hour and start the fun bit of christmas decorating with a gin and christmas music.

Convert · 01/12/2012 18:29

No asparagus jus then Mylo? Grin

Am feeling smug as we did the decs this morning so all nice and Christmassy when we came home.
