A new Simply Be has opened here. We now have that and Evans. I should imagine the moderately stout can get into clothes in most shops. If you're short, there are rarely dedicated shops and the choice is limited and twee.
Obviously there is money to be made in the plus size market. It's just one of life's unfairnesses that the cake munchers are rewarded for their lack of self control with clothes to fit them.

Tall is a bloody nightmare, Long Tall Sally are revolting and expensive, and I can never ever get sleeves long enoguh for my orangutan arms. Plus size 9 shoes if I wear ballet shoes I look like a golf club.

Fair enough.. I find it irksome in these cases where people simply blame food... You are fat ergo you eat too much. It isnt that simple... Some people have glandular or hormonal issues which cause them to carry more weight... Yet all fat people are (seemingly) condemned (by some) as greedy or lacking in will power etc.

my old flatmate (5'11 1/2) made me go with her to long tall sally. i was so embarrassed standing around waiting for her in LTS (at 5'2") While she was trying stuff on I ha to stand outside waiting for her. I said, get me a box to stand on will ya? we got a fit of the giggles. we were like tally and smally giggling our way empty handed out of the shop.

OP, try being tall in China. It's not just the clothes shopping either. Everything's just that little bit too low down -sinks, door handles, biscuits - and as the weeks and months creep by, you bugger up your back for life.

You think yourself lucky if you are short! Try being bloody tall! Lts is about your lot, except for next whose tall range is limited and more than slightly odd size wise! Imagine my excitement when I saw that they had pjs in for tall women! For the first time in my life I would be able to wear pjs that were longer than mid calf! When they came the bottoms trail on the floor by 2 inches, the waistband reached my boobs but the top barely grazed my navel. And I'm not dumpy legged, I'm actually slightly on the long legged/short bodied side.

When I was a child my dream was to shop in long tall sally! Now at 28 years of age Ihave given up on that dream, as I am only 5 ft 1.

I buy short jeans from very, Evans and the like. When I was thinner I shopped from petite ranges in high street shops. Not sure why everyone is saying the petite stuff is all twee though, last time I looked it was the same as everything else in store, just smaller!

Interestingly, when I was a size 10/12, my 4 ft 11 size 20 aunt told me I couldn't possibly shop from petite ranges as petite means small and thin (wonder why I thought I was fat) and even showing her the labels didn't make her believe me!

Um, there are lots of fat men out there too? And I think celebrating women who are a normal healthy weight rather than looking like a heroin addict is a good thing.
Oh, and just for the record, a 5ft10 woman who is a size 16 isn't the same as a 5ft2 woman who is a size 16. When you are tall you are generally built on a bigger scale altogether, not just stretched out a bit.

As a fatty I find the best way to choose my clothes in the morning is to merely climb inside my duvet cover and go out and about wearing that. May I suggest you do the same with a sock OP?

Finding clothes that fit nicely can be difficult for any size or shape. Judging people for their size/height/weight or whatever is just fucking rude!
That said, some of the responses have properly made me chuckle!
