to be annoyed that it's easier for fat women than for short women to buy clothes.

A new Simply Be has opened here. We now have that and Evans. I should imagine the moderately stout can get into clothes in most shops. If you're short, there are rarely dedicated shops and the choice is limited and twee.
Obviously there is money to be made in the plus size market. It's just one of life's unfairnesses that the cake munchers are rewarded for their lack of self control with clothes to fit them.

Agree with motherinferior that 'petite' stuff is hideous, unless you want office clothes.

However, OP, I can recommend Dickies work clothes. Ignore the "women's" ranges which cater to the tall and slender, and just buy their regular stuff which goes by inside leg measurement (& goes short enough for the vertically challenged Grin ).

Alternatively Japanese clothes are very well proportioned if you are small.

squoosh · 01/11/2012 15:44

The Borrowers never had this problem. Climb up on top of the nearest thimble and see if there are any doll's houses in the vicinity.

travailtotravel · 01/11/2012 15:44

Oh, and they should open one of these down our way. Harumph.

WelshMaenad · 01/11/2012 15:44

Maybe that's how she managed to stay so skinny in the first place Worra.

QuickLookBusy · 01/11/2012 15:45

Don't you munch cake OP?

How short are you, can't you reach the cake shelf?

SoleSource · 01/11/2012 15:46

It's great being 5'9 [hgrin] long leggies

Whyriskit · 01/11/2012 15:46

Also short and fat. Think I look ok most of the time. And btw squoosh the very nice NHS offered me that op you can get in Russia for free. I turned them down!

LolaDontCryOverSlitThroats · 01/11/2012 15:46

I' a size 8-10 and tall, will nobody think about me

gordyslovesheep · 01/11/2012 15:47

I am 5ft 1" WISH I had trouble reaching the cake ...and the peanuts...and the wine

Pootles2010 · 01/11/2012 15:47

Childrens clothes are tax-free OP, consider yourself lucky.

whattodoo · 01/11/2012 15:47

I'm short and fat.
I can generally find a nice smock or some comfy elasticated trousers to squeeze into. I try to buy them sufficiently roomy that I can fit a packet of biscuits in each pocket.

VinegarTits · 01/11/2012 15:47

why bother with clothes? with a dazzling personality like yours you might as well stay in

gordyslovesheep · 01/11/2012 15:48

mind you have have fantastic tits that help when getting young men to fetch things for me Grin

EmpressOfTheSevenRomanCandles · 01/11/2012 15:48

Ha Sole. But do you always have legroom?

Noren · 01/11/2012 15:49

I'm fat and short. Imagine how I feel!

Also your post is extremely offensive. "cake munchers" ffs. People can be fat for many reasons - one cause of gaining weight is DIETING.

DameMargotFountain · 01/11/2012 15:50

Rocha at Debenhams are very good for short arses, and the sizes are generous

i have no trouble reaching the biscuits, i bounce my fat ass off the floor and catch them on the way past the shelf Grin

am liking what's idea though, i might try that, and use a breastfeeding wrap to hide and emergency cake in

RyleDup · 01/11/2012 15:50

Wear stilts then. Then you'll be fine.

RobinSparkles · 01/11/2012 15:51

"A new Simply Be has opened here. We now have that and Evans."

Ooh, two shops! Whoopdedoo. Them fat gals don't know they're born Hmm.

You're talking bollocks OP and being fattist. You can always take the hem up, wear turn ups or wear heels!

I'm the perfect weight - if I was a foot or so taller.

I deliberately keep on the rotund side solely in order to be able to shop at the specialist shops as well as the shops for those who are within the normal BMI range.

I'm just so greedy, on all levels.

gordyslovesheep · 01/11/2012 15:52

fridgepants for some reason your name keeps giving me the giggles Grin

soorploom · 01/11/2012 15:52

i'm the worst kind of short and fat- all sort of round in the middle but skinny legs and shoulders
petite shortarse fatty type clothes- none of them work
am thinking of constructing some outfits from recycled sweet wrappers and gregg bags

Has anyone else noticed that so called 'short' clothes are getting longer? I now have to turn up even short fitting trousers. Confused
