to be annoyed that it's easier for fat women than for short women to buy clothes.

A new Simply Be has opened here. We now have that and Evans. I should imagine the moderately stout can get into clothes in most shops. If you're short, there are rarely dedicated shops and the choice is limited and twee.
Obviously there is money to be made in the plus size market. It's just one of life's unfairnesses that the cake munchers are rewarded for their lack of self control with clothes to fit them.

But is your husband as ... Striking as mr brick

MummyPigsFatTummy · 01/11/2012 17:20

Short, fat and pregnant with swollen ankles was a joy too. I looked like a weeble. (Still do sadly 3 years on).

It is also worth bearing in mind OP that there are many areas in which people can lack self-control. Overeating is simply the most visible one. However, if you have a will of iron in every area, I guess you can afford to criticise others.

Try being me!

I'm fat and short. With freakishly long legs and arms for my size. This rules out petite ranges.

My overall height rules out tall ranges.

The fact my bones are wide and im therefore very broad so regular clothes don't fit me.

Fat ranges fit me but have unnecessary pouches of material that I don't fill because I'm fr in the wrong places.

I'm basically a fat mr tickle.

Fk all fits me properly. Good Job I'm into the bag lady look.

Kendodd · 01/11/2012 17:31

Haven't read whole thread, only half of first page but...

I agree with the op.

"the cake munchers are rewarded for their lack of self control with clothes to fit them"

The vast majority of fat people are fat because they eat too much. What is so wrong with saying something that's true? Why is every other post is a biscuit?

BTW I am overweight, I make no excuses for myself, I am fat because I'm greedy and I really should do something about it. If like me you are fat then you should do something about it as well instead of taking offence at somebody pointing out the flippin' obvious.

eachpeach11 · 01/11/2012 17:35

Yabu. When i was short and a size 12 clothes shopping was easy. Now as a size 20 its much harder. Also most evans are closing in our area.

AmIthatScary · 01/11/2012 17:35

I'm not sure what is funniest.

The OP (10 out of 10 btw)

or the wonderful, wonderful responses from most MNers, which have had me howling with laughter, and I now have sore sides Grin

Or I would if I didn't have all this extra padding round my waist, which I am feeding with cakes, just so that I get a good choice of sparkly dresses for Christmas

Signet2012 · 01/11/2012 17:37

It's not just fat though is it. I am fat. (also have a 7 week old baby but can only use that as an excuse for the last 9 months)

I am pretty broad from shoulder to shoulder and have a broad rib cage and big hips.

Even if I al carrying no fat at all squinting at distant memory I still can not fit into fashion clothes ruling out next new look etx. The only place I can get clothes that I don't hulk out of if I bend my arms are the fatty shops.

It's not all about cake, think of the genes!!! refuses to take the blame

motherinferior · 01/11/2012 17:38

Can I say that the recommendation of Eastex as an option for the vertically challenged is making me cry.

MummyPigsFatTummy · 01/11/2012 17:42

Kendodd - it's hardly a reward is it to be given the opportunity to shop in Evans?

And would you rather no clothes were made for anyone over size 12 (or 10 maybe?) so we all had to squeeze our rolls of flesh into skinny jeans or (horrible thought) lycra? What a picture that would make down the high street every Saturday with all us fatties waddling about like overstuffed sausages. Oh...wait a minute...

Kendodd · 01/11/2012 17:43

I will read it then if you say it's funny.

I just have a bit of a pet hate about fat people whining about being fat as if they are some sort of victim and the fact they are fat is in no way their fault.

B1ueberryP1e · 01/11/2012 17:45

Eastex?! I may be short but I'm only 42 so I don't think so!! my mum looked around there recently and walked out.

To the OP, you're brave, but I agree with you and it's occured to me too. The belts/waists of clothes are always too low for me, so nothing fits right. dresses puff out at the back because my back isn't long enough, no matter what size i buy. it is hard. ANd yet, I know i'm only 2 " shorter than average. it shouldn't be so hard to buy clothes. So called petite ranges only have an inch cut off the end. The waist still falls in the same place. Petite ranges are a con.

EdsRedeemingQualities · 01/11/2012 17:46

Oh God what a crap OP.

SecretCermonials · 01/11/2012 17:46

Kendodd... You are projecting your own self loathing... Far more unattractive than any shamou proportions!

Kendodd · 01/11/2012 17:46

Actually I was just thinking that the other day. In that- "I wish they didn't make big clothers then I'd have no choice but to try to lose weight" But then I'm very lazy and really need a big push to force me off the sofa.

MummyPigsFatTummy · 01/11/2012 17:47

Right, I for one am fat becasue I love stuffing my face with yummy cakes. I still don't see how that is anyone else's business (unless I sit on them I suppose). Neither do I see why I should be criticised for being able to buy something (probably polyester and shapeless if we are talking Evans) to cover my lardy arse. Does that make me a whiny victim?

B1ueberryP1e · 01/11/2012 17:47

I often whine about being short! I blame my dad. grrrr

Kendodd · 01/11/2012 17:49

Kendodd... You are projecting your own self loathing...

I'm not self loathing at all, in fact if I was a bit more bothered about my weight I might make more of an effort with it. Everything's just so delicious though...and I have too little will power...

Bonkerz · 01/11/2012 17:49

YOURS is a shop that sells clothes for fat people and do different lengths for height! Hoorah! I'm a size 24 and leg length 27inch!!!!!!

squoosh · 01/11/2012 17:50

The fat people and the short people should be made to wear old potato sacking as punishment for being so physically repellant.

Kendodd · 01/11/2012 17:51

I'm short, I whiny about that, but then that really isn't my fault.
