to think you should make your bed in the morning?

Just read elsewhere that made me think some people don't bother. I couldn't leave the house without making my bed, it takes about 30 seconds and if I haven't done it, I sort of feel like I've forgotten to put any knickers on or something, as though I've not done something really important.
I know someone in RL who doesn't and I think she's totally lazy!
Do people really not bother to do this?

I don't bother. I crawl in as I crawled out.

I make our bed in the mornings, and my daughters. I am too scared to look in DS11's room to check for fear of being attacked by walking socks/clothes.

Why the hell do you care whether anyone else makes their bed or not?

You should really not make your bed. You should pull back bed linen and open windows to kill the bed bugs air the bed. Trouble is I don't like getting into cold bed in winter. Brrr

YABU to think that I should do anything with my bed.

What I do with my bed is none of your business.

I always make ours as soon as I jump out of it, plump up the pillows and make it all smooth.

I can't stand an unmade bed, I would start twitching if I went downstairs, sat having coffee knowing it was still all rumply and messy!

I don't because DH is often still in it.

I ALWAYS make the beds before we go out of the house. I like to leave it tidy for when I return.

My DM who hates housework as she sees it as a sign of female oppression [hhmm] refuses to make her bed. Fair enough in her house. But I hate when they come and stay with us and leave the guest bed in a mess for days on end.

I turn back the duvet and throw with the sheet (so I suppose it looks made) to air the matress out.

then "make" the bed in the evening. Twas how I was taught!

The only difference being our waterbed, which we do make when we get out ot it to preserve the heat.

Seriously, I am not lazy, just need to be out the house early, and airing is better.

Oh, and when I make the bed, I turn the covers back on our bed so that it can air. 2 DD and a dog means that there are some nights we end up all sleeping together in our bed, so a good airing is essential. But I still straighten the covers, put the pillows in place and generally tidy it up.

Doesn't current thinking say that it's better to leave your bed unmade to air it?

I make mine, my kids usually leave their duvets in a heap, but I really don't care either way.

I can't. The cat's still in it. Anyway, it's my bed, my rules.

If you have sheets and blankets then I can see that it might be good to have them all tucked in neatly before you get in. But it doesn't matter if you do that straight after getting up or just before getting in.

If you have a duvet, what is there to do? Just arrange it as you like when you want it.

I pull the duvet back over the end and smooth out the sheet so it can air. Never used to think about it until I read an article about how much sweat you're supposed to impart onto your sheets in a night - even if you can't actually see it - and now the thought of immediately pulling the covers back over that seems rather revolting.

I make mine if I feel like it, which isn't very often, but otherwise just leave it.

No you really should not make your bed and tuck everything in, it's not healthy, you should let it air.

If I couldn't leave the house until the bed was made I'd have been housebound for half a century. I can't see why you'd care about this sort of thing?

I also read that beds should have duvets removed so that the mattress can be aired and in Germany the Duvets were aired too by resting them on the open window sills.

But now back in UK and widowed and alone, I can't be bothered, but do leave the duvet thrown back off where I was sleeping, sometimes until I go to bed, but do like to see it made with a frilled Bedspread on the top when I do get round to doing it in the late morning after bed bugs been frozen to death !!!!

Nah. But then my bedroom is an utter tip. It's my room and no one else is going to tell me how it should be. So ner.
