AIBU to take 3mo to cinema with the dc's?

Please don't slate me :) I'm just wondering if this would be wrong? She is a v good baby rarely cries unless tired or starving! I'm bfeeding so can't leave her with anyone she won't take a bottle of formula. I have an 8 an 4 yr old on the half term who desperately want to go and watch a kids film? Do I think it would be horrendous if I take bubbs too? If she cries I will slip out if we sit at the front I can have a quick escape ?

really depends not something I would do. But then I would not feel comfortable to leave my 8 year old in charge of a 4 year old if I needed to leave.
We had the same problem though. Dd was 6 when as was born and missed trips to the cinema.

I took DS to the cinema almost every week from age about 2-5 months. It was a special screening for mums with babes in arms. It was bloody brilliant - DS would sleep soundly and I'd get to enjoy a good film :) I would just ring the cinema first and check it's ok to bring her in, as some places can be funny about that. If they say ok then it should be perfectly fine.

Well their website says babes in arms into pg or u screenings? We so have mother and baby show on Wednesdays but it was James Bond and they would not watch that :/

Should be fine in that case. Babies used to cry during the screenings I went to but because the cinema tends to be so loud it didn't really make much difference. If you had to pop outside the door for a few minutes I'm sure the children would be just fine.

My 4 yo would prob come with me if I pop out I will give it a try I guess I won't know until I try??

If it's a kids film, I think it's completely fine. If she isn't a screamer, I'll warrant she'll be quieter than the three year olds asking what is going on, or needing the loo or whatever. I go to the parent and baby screenings quite often-they are rarely disturbed and there are 30 babies. Go for it!

James Bond is a 12A, my 10YO saw it, no problem with that but inst 4 a little too young?

I think I would be most concerned about the effect of the noise on the baby, but you know your baby and how they are likely to react.

My DS never took any notice of the noise. Omletta they're not seeing James Bond.

I take dd (now 18mo) all the time from when she was tiny. I tend to go at times I know it'll be quiet (mornings and mid week) and sit at the front so she can walk round if she wants but she rarely does. We've never had any problems (apart from the famous popcorn explosion) and she loves the cinema :)

It is a kids film there will be kids there take the baby and if baby cries you can always stand outside and tell the children where you are for a minute or 2, on our half term a few weeks ago I saw a couple with a baby going into the cinema, with no other children,

Oh thank you I thought I would get loads of negative saying if she makes noise it's really unfair etc which it would b but he is a v quiet baby she didn't make any noise yesterday all day apart from gurgling to herself so in sure she would b fine saying that she may have an unusual bad day and cry a lot so will deff give it a go!

I used to take my baby all the time to the the special screenings for Mum and baby. My cinema seemed to take great delight in always showing the most violent, sexual 18 films for these showings and the volume was always LOUD. Was great. Just BF'd and baby slept all the time. I kept mine in a sling so I had arms free for popcorn eating.

Well call me old fashioned but I never took either of mine to the cinema until they were four and old enough to keep quiet (ish!). I think it's a modern-day, quite entitled thing to do UNLESS it is a babes in arms thing.

AND I wouldn't really like to leave my 8 and 4 year old alone with some quite scary bits in this film (when the baddy shows his ahem scars) if and when the baby cries. Don't think anyone's properly thinking this through!

I have no objection on principle, but I took my 9 week old once and the volume was so ludicrously loud that I could actual feel the vibrations running through his body so took him out. WAY too loud.

If it's a kids showing, fine, but just think about the noise levels. My son was in a sling too but it was still much much too aggressively loud.

I didn't take any of mine either but that is only because I didn't think to take them but back then nobody took babies anywhere that wasn't baby orientated, most cinemas don't mind if babes in arms/carseats/slings go, and why not shows babies are portable

Go for it! Ds1 is 6 and ds2 6m. We've been 4 times altogether and the only time I had to leave was 5 mins before the end of Spiderman as he woke up!

We go in sharp, get settled, play with baby, start feeding at the adverts and he's sleeping at the start. If he falls asleep in noise it doesn't wake him up but I do pop a muslin over his ear (the one that's not against me)

I slide him into his sling for sleeping then that's him!

The amount of glares I've had from people coming in and seeing me with baby is unreal - no one sits near us! But equally I've always had comments about how good he was and they didn't realise he was there at the end.

I genuinely would not let him make any noise. I'd get up and go out and ds1 knows this.

I took DD1 to special baby screenings and then started to go into normal screenings with her. She'd sleep/feed/sleep. She's harder work now at 3.5 so we go less.

DD2 went to see the last Harry Potter at 3 days old. W were prepared to leave but she slept through and was less disruptive than the 10 year olds mucking about in the front row.

People have always been surprised to see us leave as they'd had no idea a baby was in the cinema with them, even if she had a little fuss.

You can take a baby into a 12a as you are the parent accepting responsibility for the under 12.

elfycat- you too a 3 day old? It's SO noisy! can't be good for their ears.

Never been to a baby screening, might keep an eye out as it would be nice to see a grown up film for once!

To be honest if it wasn't for ds1 I'd probably not bother taking the baby but I don't see how it's entitled to go with him and the baby!

We are watching either Madagascar 3 or frankenweenie :))) so doubt it will b that scary?

It's not a birthright to go to the cinema and if there's a new baby in the family, some kids have to miss out on a few things.

Also, if your baby wakes up and cries and you leave, do you take your other kids or leave them in there on their own?

TBH when I had DS2, DH took DS1 on his own to a kids matinee. otherwise, there's always DVDs and popcorn at home. Hardly a hardship!
