Please don't slate me :) I'm just wondering if this would be wrong? She is a v good baby rarely cries unless tired or starving! I'm bfeeding so can't leave her with anyone she won't take a bottle of formula. I have an 8 an 4 yr old on the half term who desperately want to go and watch a kids film? Do I think it would be horrendous if I take bubbs too? If she cries I will slip out if we sit at the front I can have a quick escape ?

The sat morning shows are great for this. Only £1 for kids and accompanying adult is free, so if you need to leave at any time you haven't really lost out

We have also been to the theatre many times with a baby! ( shock horror), we eat out in nice restaurants, fly, enjoy life. If they disturb anyone one of us will take them out for a while( apart from plane as obv hard to leave!)

Enjoy the film

forevergreek · 01/11/2012 11:39

And yes the baby ear muffs are great

nipersvest · 01/11/2012 11:41

vue do a kids am thing on weekends and during half term. we've been loads and there's always quite a few babies with families there. go, it'll be fine!

SandyChick · 01/11/2012 11:45

I would. Make the most of it until the baby is on the move and you won't be able to. Ds2 is 7 months old and wouldn't sit still or quietly now.

We took ds2 to the newbies showings when he was few months old. There were people without kids watching the film. Plus the babies were making the least noise. It was the toddlers running around etc.

When we have gone to see kids films no one ever sits quietly really do they? There are always toddlers making noise and walking around. That's what you'd expect when going to see a kids film.

Hope you all enjoy.

forevergreek · 01/11/2012 12:46

Exactly. I can understand people getting annoyed if kids at an adult aimed film in the evening, but kids films are for kids ( who are often noisy), do expecting silence from anyone at 1pm watching a u isn't going to happen

YouOldSlag · 01/11/2012 14:02

good point flobbadobba, didn't think of the resentment issue.

YouOldSlag · 01/11/2012 14:07

I actually have no issue with babies in children's showings of film or theatre, as long as they are children's showings. My personal issue with babies in cinemas is the noise level of the film being harmful to little ears.

In a children's showing I have no issue with crying babies or roaming toddlers. In a general showing of a film, I don't think it's fair to take them.

MrsKeithRichards · 01/11/2012 14:16

What do you mean children's showing? Not the showing of a child's film full of children but one of the cheap Saturday morning shows?

What's the difference?

MrsKeithRichards · 01/11/2012 14:18

Totally agree regarding resentment. My 6 year old has accepted so much less of me and my time since baby arrived it's nice to say yes, lets go, now and again!

YouOldSlag · 01/11/2012 14:33

By children's showing, I mean the special showings for kids on a Sat morning for example. If someone took a fidgety 2yo or a newborn to a PG or a 12a then I'm not sure that's fair on the other patrons. The plots tend to be more convoluted and people often pay to concentrate on the actual film.

But, hey I don't make the rules. I would expect loads of kids from 0 years upwards in a U showing for example. It's just my rule, not THE rule.

prudencesmom · 01/11/2012 15:53

OP are you for real?

prudencesmom · 01/11/2012 16:08

Ok you seem to be real now, your posts didnt seem right at the start. Still, I think YADBU bringing a baby.
But hey each to their own. I never did it, but then I take other people into account in situations like that.

EasilyBored · 01/11/2012 16:11

Am wondering how her silent tiny baby would be having any effect on your enjoyment of a children's film pru?

As long as you don't play with your phone or actually answer your phone in the cinema; that would BU.

3plus2 · 01/11/2012 16:20

Lol the people munching and crunching and as I sed numerous two year olds screaming did not devastate my movie as the parents stepped outside and again it was a kids movie ? I'm so glad we went the kids had a fantastic day they haven't been for a long time

TheDetective · 01/11/2012 16:33

LMAO @ some of the responses on here Grin

I've got a 10 year old, and expecting DC2 aaaaaaaany day now (any day, today would be a GREAT DAY!). We go to the cinema every couple of months usually. The next trip we have planned is our usual Christmas eve showing of some suitably festive crap film!

I am planning on taking the baby with me, in sling or other suitable carrying item. If baby cries, I will leave DS to watch the film until I can return. Or if I can't, he can watch it on his own while I wait.

Don't see the problem to be honest! I'm not changing our traditional christmas eve plans just because of a new baby - when there is most likely no need! I suspect the baby will sleep/feed through it. Babies like noisy environments anyway!

I might be getting some ear defenders anyway, because I am planning a few trips in the coming weeks where fireworks and loud noises will be rife. So could use those if necessary for cinema showings.

prudencesmom · 01/11/2012 16:33

What if the baby started crying WWYD 3plus2?

MrsKeithRichards · 01/11/2012 16:35

Go outside...

Is that not obvious?

prudencesmom · 01/11/2012 16:35
