to think that vomitting into a carrier bag in the middle of a cafe is not on, even if it is 'just morning sickness'

Was in a cafe this lunch time with my parents and my DD, a lady came in with three other adults and a toddler and sat at one of the tables, they were about halfway through their lunch when the lady took a carrier bag out of her handbag, vomitted into it, tied a knot in it and put it under her chair next to some shopping bags. She then loudly talked to her fellow diners about it just being morning sickness and picked at her remaining food.

Don't get me wrong, I remember the morning sickness days well, it's a horrible feeling, I don't miss it, BUT this was a cafe, other people are eating and there was a well-signed toilet a few metres from her table - did she really need to do that?

Fortunately it wasn't a carrier bag with holes........

I must have a high tolerance as I don't think it would bother me at all. Its not ideal in a cafe but I doubt she planned it. I have health issues and have been sick in public a few times and people have always been lovely and helped me out. I certainly didn't leave the house knowing it would happen.

Nannyl preferably sans wretching noises, the whole cafe does not want to hear puking noises, that would be enough to set me off Grin

YANBU I think its really insensitive of her not to be aware that other diners around her would find it really disgusting and could make them feel like being sick too. I am also phobic about sick but understand sometimes people obviously could not help it but if I was her I would not have gone to a cafe.
When I was pregnant I suffered a horrible constant nauseous feeling for the first few months but am relieved I had that than actually being sick as I just dread it so much.

Me too kerstina, I am phobic too. And having 3 children, CBT and hypnotherapy still hasn't improved things.

Nice to know I'm not alone.

Oh holy fucking shit. Really?!?!?!?!

That is DIS.GUST.ING. Puking in a bag is fine, you just apologize to everyone then slip off to dispose of it somewhere discreet. You don't knot it and then stick it with the rest of her shopping! What's she gonna do, keep the bag around in case it happens again?! Bleuurgh!

Vilevilevilevilevile!

We had a guest chuck up into a napkin. She then just handed it to my waitress colleague.

A couple of times people threw up into their food, but they were generally pissed. Oh and into champagne buckets, where I suppose it is at least diluted. Still unpleasant though. I wouldn't mind so much if people would alert you to their barfing rather than just leaving some poor waiter or cleaner to find it.

Really janai that is just plain disgusting and rude.
