to think that vomitting into a carrier bag in the middle of a cafe is not on, even if it is 'just morning sickness'

Was in a cafe this lunch time with my parents and my DD, a lady came in with three other adults and a toddler and sat at one of the tables, they were about halfway through their lunch when the lady took a carrier bag out of her handbag, vomitted into it, tied a knot in it and put it under her chair next to some shopping bags. She then loudly talked to her fellow diners about it just being morning sickness and picked at her remaining food.

Don't get me wrong, I remember the morning sickness days well, it's a horrible feeling, I don't miss it, BUT this was a cafe, other people are eating and there was a well-signed toilet a few metres from her table - did she really need to do that?

Fortunately it wasn't a carrier bag with holes........

monkeysbignuts · 12/10/2012 21:30

scottishmummy · 12/10/2012 21:31

nae shit sherlock
but seeing no one said it did
you're just sounding off for sake of

Inneedofbrandy · 12/10/2012 21:34

No not just for the sake of it. This thread feels me with horror that people think it would be acceptable to just barf in a cafe. I'm struggling to see how it would be ok never mind about whatever illness's or MS or hangovers. I really can't see how it would be ok.

Inneedofbrandy · 12/10/2012 21:37

I mean fills!

scottishmummy · 12/10/2012 21:37

I've boaked work, cafe, bus.and appropriately disposed of
I made adequate provisions was hygienic in disposal
I was pg it was feature of my pg and work were v supportive

pigletmania · 12/10/2012 21:39

Detective having hg or severe morning sickness is no excuse for poor manners and hygeine this woman displayed. She could have rused with her bag to the toilet, dispose the bag in the toilet bin. Other people have payed good money to eat and do not want to see/smell a bag full of barth when the are tryi g to eat. Not on

nkf · 12/10/2012 21:39

To be fair, I don't think anyone has suggested that it is acceptable. More than there seems to be a suggestion that one shouldn't be allowed to feel disgust because she was pregnant.

Even if you accept that for some reason, she had to be in that cafe and had to vomit in a bag and had to put in under a table it's still disgusting.

I don't understand it but I understand that some people do but it is disgusting isn't it? Even if you've done it yourself, you would recognise that you've been disgusting and disgusted many people. Even as you felt sorry for yourself, some sense of the disgustingness of your actions would come through.

Inneedofbrandy · 12/10/2012 21:44

Well scottish mummy i am assuming by your name you are in scotland. Thank gawd I am nowhere near scotland to have seen your barf on the bus because my barf would have followed and gone everywhere.

It would be like chunk in the goonies describing to (whatever his name was who was locked up) about the mass barf fest.

scottishmummy · 12/10/2012 21:46

I love the sardonic fortunately it wasn't a carrier bag with holes
well said
imagine the puddle of boak with latte to go

HoneyDragon · 12/10/2012 21:48

I find it disgusting what the woman in the op did.

But we live in a society where pg is not allowed to slow you down or weaken you. I reckon we'll see more horrible behaviour like this not less. Perhaps it is now a badge of honour for dome to demonstrate how pg is not impeding on their day to day life?

My work were great to SM. Possibly as my team were older women with a fair bit of life experience and not terribly judgy.

scottishmummy · 12/10/2012 21:49

fortunately brandy I had bags, hand gel To assist with your boak
ands what if I hurl work,or bus
fortunately work was v supportive it was not an issue

ShhhhhGoBackToSleep · 12/10/2012 21:49

God, how unsympathetic can some people get? Someone with such bad sickness they have to carry around bags to vomit in and you are bitching that she is disgusting and selfish and should just be hidden way so you don't have to see her vomit once? Confused

So this women is very very sick every single bloody day in addition to all the other side effects of pregnancy. She perhaps felt a bit better and dared to (shock and disgust!) go into a cafe where she could perhaps eat something. She then found herself suddenly sick and managed to not projectile vomit all over the cafe, but got it all in a bag. And then she didn't run outside straight away to find a bin to put it in.

Let me tell you, there are not bins everywhere in the uk. I have been the person searching for a bin to put a bag of sick in, sometimes there are literally none for miles. So you are wandering around with a bag of sick which may or may not stay watertight while rude people bump into you, feeling still sick (because you feel sick 24 hours a day even if you only spend 5 or 6 hours actually vomiting) and possibly then being sick again while trying to hold onto your possessions and a bag of cold sick. Would that have been better?

Or perhaps she should have just dumped the bag of cold sick on the floor outside for someone to step on. Or in the toilet for some poor cleaning to pick up. Would that have been better?

Also, being sick into a bag while feeling really ill and running towards a toilet is hard. You tend to miss a bit. Would that have been better?

I often ate after being sick. If I didn't I wouldn't have eaten for nine months.

Seriously, have a bit of empathy.

pigletmania · 12/10/2012 21:55

Shhh the cafe had a toilet and I am sure t has a bin so she should have attempted to put it in the toilet bin, nobody should have to see/smell a bag of puke when they are eating. Es just seeing her vomiting into the bag would have put me off, but I am sick phobic anyway. It was hard when I was pg

scottishmummy · 12/10/2012 21:57

badge of honor working pg?no.money.pragmatism.career and pg isnt confinement
I found no honor or joy in hurling
I was fortunate my employer had no issues with the boak

QuintessentialShadows · 12/10/2012 21:59

I once left an Orla Kiely oilskin bag with puke in the short stay car park at Heathrow. Could not find a bin.

Dont think they would have let me check it in.

Carsick child. Envy barf.

scottishmummy · 12/10/2012 22:02

No, I had to leave the bag there, still full. Was flying out and late for my flight!

(if that was to me, SM)

Chaoscarriesonagain · 12/10/2012 22:03

I was sick in a champagne bucket at a wedding recently! Very discreetly I might add! Come on... Yabu

HoneyDragon · 12/10/2012 22:05

It was a question genuine question SM about comments on the situation not a statement.

I know I didn't take pride in vomming at my desk.

But if people are saying she didn't need to be in the cafe or puke into a bag in the cafe than what would the motivation be to puke into a bag other than to be seen doing so? Confused

nannyl · 12/10/2012 22:15

YANBU

to leave it on the floor and carry on as usual is wrong

to puke any where and everywhere cant necesarily be helped (I to had HG, and often didnt make it from my bed, to the loo which was 4 foot steps away)

I would also vote vomit as discretely as possible into bag at the table rather than in the middle of the cafe, but would dispose of immediatley not just sit there next to it..... ewwww

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 12/10/2012 22:30

All sympathetic to the woman for having morning sickness. But FGS! Take it and put it in the bin. The OP says the woman was sitting right near the loo, and had time to undo her handbag and get the carrier out. Surely she could have made it to the loo!
She was VU to put it under her seat!
