The £6 in Sainsbury's last as long. As do their very reasonable no VPL knicks.

coffeeinbed · 10/10/2012 13:08

This has been an education.
I always thought that a bra rides up on the back if it is too tight in the band.

lostinindia · 10/10/2012 13:08

I spent £50 for a bra 5 years ago and it's just wearing out now. Bought another one for £65 (mega ouch) a few months ago as I reckon if it'll last the same amount of time I'll have my moneys worth. I'd love a few more as the other £5 - £10 bras I own are really very uncomfortable. In fat I have loads of bras from M&S, La Senza (absolute shite), Elle Macpherson (ouch again) - all fancy underwire padded things that don't fit and hurt. I'd have been far better off not buying any of them and opting for one or two expensive ones.

Wowserz129 · 10/10/2012 13:09

I pay £30-40 for mine. I used to wear cheap £5 bras but tried bravissimo and will NEVER go back to cheap bras. Not the same support!

susiedaisy · 10/10/2012 13:09

Yep m&s 3 for £10 knickers are great!

SorrelForbes · 10/10/2012 13:12

Woozley As long as you're happy and comfy, then that's all that matters.

Did you try a 32E? It would fit very differently from a 32C. I am a 30G and there's no way I could get a 30F done up and still breathe. I had back fat, under arm bulges and sore marks when I wore a 34DD and now have none of these issues. Just saying Grin

piratecat · 10/10/2012 13:12

Woozley, that's fine, you are a 36c then, it's just that some people are wearing a 36, a 38 or whatever, but they aren't that and their bra is up round their shoulderblades!

If your bra is too big around your ribs, the weight of your boobs will cause it rise up your back.

The problem, is finding a bra well made enough to support the weight of the breast, whilst also staying put around the ribs.

FANTASIE !!

piratecat · 10/10/2012 13:14

yes! Sorrel me too, because there would be more actual material to go round if the cup size is a big bigger.

Woozley did you actually try a 32E? (as you say that there would be a gap, not that there was). The cups of 36C and 32E are almost the same size, (or exactly the same size if the brand does not have DD), so no it would not be massively too big just because it's called an E.

SorrelForbes · 10/10/2012 13:23

I love this blog article about cup sizes fullerfigurefullerbust.com/2012/08/16/bra-sizes-do-not-exist-without-back-sizes/

ComeAlongPond · 10/10/2012 13:30

Thanks Hazle - I tried the wonderbra but the shape didn't really suit me, just flattened my boobs and made them look non-existent. I might ring my local store and see if they've got either in stock, and will try the Evie if not.

impty · 10/10/2012 13:40

Well I've got £100+ bras and cheap bras. Honestly although the expensive ones are beautiful...they aren't the best fit. The cheap ones are fun and they don't always fit perfectly either! In my experience the best value for money are the bras around £30ish mark. Fit well last a reasonable amount of time. I haven't got much of a chest to cover though....

StatisticallyChallenged · 10/10/2012 14:16

Lostinindia, keep an eye on the leia outlet www.leialingerie.com/outlet/search.aspx#page=1&srt=8&asc=0&minp=0&maxp=100here, brastop and also, bizarrely, amazon. I've had a few absolute bargains from all of the above in the last few months, Leia sell Freya, Fantasie and Fauve and I have seen most brands popping up on Amazon at some bargain prices.

coffeeinbed · 10/10/2012 15:49

Ok, I've got 33 and 38.
Something tells me that's not my current 36A.

StatisticallyChallenged · 10/10/2012 15:55

Ha ha, 'fraid not coffeeinbed. Either a 32 or a 34 (IME most people fit better in the smaller size)

In a 32 - probably a DD or E
in a 34 - probably a D/DD

coffeeinbed · 10/10/2012 15:59

Right, see what I can stuff 'em in...

marriednotdead · 10/10/2012 16:16

Comealongpond if those don't work, try the Freya Deco strapless. It's a tighter fit in the band than the others you mentioned but doesn't squash your boobs along the top of the cup. If you're between sizes, go for the smaller cup. HTH.

piprabbit · 10/10/2012 16:24

I love a nice bra and shopping in R&P has to be one of the nicest experiences ever.

But, given you need at least 4 bras on the go and each one is only meant to be worn for around 6 months before becoming unusable, I really can't justify spending over £700 on bras.

I make do with M&S and think they cost more than I can really afford.

StatisticallyChallenged · 10/10/2012 16:30

Personally I don't go to R&P (I'm in Scotland for a start) - I probably spend on average £25 on a bra. I do tend to hunt down good bargains though. I have had M&S bras before, but even when the size was correct the quality and fit was very poor on me. Straps were all wrong, seams in awkward places, just didn't wear well or feel good on.
