is too much? Mine cost £5 from sainsburys. Does anyone here actually buy these things?

I tend to buy fewer bras at more expensive price, most of mine cost around £25-£30 each but I only buy one or two every 18 months or so,

coffeeinbed · 10/10/2012 11:35

I might be on the other side of the spectrum - between two band sizes and either A or B.
The money I wasted on badly fitting bras over the years is much more than £85.
I do take care of them though - hand wash, dry flat and so on. So they last, but still don't fit properly.

People spend thousands on watches while they carry a phone that does the same job.

I think bras are an important investment, I'm quite slim but with massive boobs and I have really awful backache but it gets so much worse with a bad bra.

I'd pay hundreds if I could find a bra that took all the pain away, although I imagine this might involve some sort of balloon and drip contraption.

Bue · 10/10/2012 11:43

Another R&P convert here. I have to budget for my bras because they are so expensive, but I didn't realize how perky boobs that are the wrong side of 30 could look until I switched.

YerMaw1989 · 10/10/2012 11:45

WHAAAAAT!!! was it diamond encrusted?

Latara · 10/10/2012 11:45

I will look up brastop when i have time.

I meant that i will get the credit card out for a bra that fits properly.
(Hopefully not for my council tax! :( )

Now i want chocolate too, thanks for mentioning the c word there mirai!
But i will not weaken. Grin

JenFrankenstein · 10/10/2012 11:46

I don't really know what cup size I am, none seem to fit. I am a 42 band even though I always get measured as a 40. I've been to different places to get measured and they always say 40 but that is too small. I have a 40E, 42DD and 42E nursing bras, none of them are right and are a complete nightmare to sleep in

SorrelForbes · 10/10/2012 11:46

I honestly look about a stone lighter when I'm wearing one of my R&P bras that's what my DM tells me anyway

HazleNutt · 10/10/2012 11:47

Ruby have you tried the Freya longline bras? Piper for example? (can't link, work has blocked all lingerie sites). Has about 7 hooks so very, very supportive.

SorrelForbes · 10/10/2012 11:49

Jen Where have you been measured? Do you know if they added the dreaded 4 or 5" to your under bust measurement? One way to check is to measure yourself under your bust (tight) and across bust (loose). Get the back right first and then work up through the cups.

HazleNutt · 10/10/2012 11:49

Jen, where have you been measured as 40? Could you tell us your measurements and we can try to guess what the problem might be.

HazleNutt · 10/10/2012 11:49

Grin Sorrel

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 10/10/2012 11:50

latara
Brastop do larger cup sizes at non-scary prices so you may not even need your credit card.

SorrelForbes · 10/10/2012 11:51

One make I like which is still pricey but not quite as bad as R&P is Fauve. Their balcony bras are very good for those with boobs which are fuller on the bottom.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 10/10/2012 11:51

Jen
If you have been measured at M&S or Mothercare your size is almost certainly wrong. I don't know a single person who has been put in the right sized bra by either of those establishments.

JenFrankenstein · 10/10/2012 11:59

37 and 48

I've been to M&S and also independent shops. They all say 40 but if I wear a 40 it digs in and leaves a sore red mark all round me by the end of the day

SorrelForbes · 10/10/2012 12:03

OK. On those measurement you should try either a 36HH or a 38H (possibly a 38GG too). Your 40s and 42s are digging in because they are sitting in the wrong place and being dragged down by your boobs being in too small a cup.

HazleNutt · 10/10/2012 12:04

What Sorrel says. No wonder your bras are a nightmare!

some people pay £600 for a bag.

dependant on your size tho, a more expensive bra could be the answer to your prayers, tho £85 is ridiculous, when there are amazing bras like Fantasie out there for £30.

I used to work for Rigby and Peller, we had alot of smaller sized customers who had plenty of choice paying more than that for a bra, off the peg too. waste of money imo.

Yet a five pound bra would not help my boobs.

SorrelForbes · 10/10/2012 12:08

I don't even want to think about what mumsnetgel could be!

JenFrankenstein · 10/10/2012 12:10

I wear my bras so that the band is just underneath my boobs, where should it be?

RubyFakeNails · 10/10/2012 12:10

Well thank you Hazel I've had a little shop at Freya, the prices are so reasonable am quite Shock I maybe desert Rigby and Peller if they're any good.

I'm trying the longline Carys, the the Gem, Rosie and Lyla but thats just because those 3 are quite pretty Grin
