is too much? Mine cost £5 from sainsburys. Does anyone here actually buy these things?

mirai Ha! Why do you say that?!

I could never afford £90 on a bra let alone justify it. Not when my kids need new clothes (why do they grow so fecking fast!!)
The most I have paid was £30 but I am between a 32/34 DD so not an unusual size

Woozley · 10/10/2012 09:33

I used to see Christian Dior bras in a lovely shop in France for about £90 and that was 15 years ago. They were exceptionally nice though, unusual designs for the time when bras were nearly always black or white.

My bras cost £6 from Sainsbury's also.

Boomerwang · 10/10/2012 09:39

Big boobs need decent support. Some boobs, like mine, need extra coverage too and supermarkets tend to sell balcony bras. I'd end up with four boobs. Unfortunately, when you go out of the standard size range, you pay more money. Mine cost around £25-£50. I wouldn't pay £90.

Incidentally, there's an advert over here for something called an 'Aire Bra' which supposedly fits everyone no matter what size. Is that shown in the UK? And has anyone bought one? Is it any good? I'm considering it, despite its ugliness. I'm at a size and age where comfort matters a lot more to me.

ZillionChocolate · 10/10/2012 09:59

KittyFane probably because there was a monster thread on here in August/Sept which established that many mumsnetters were wearing the wrong size bra. If you measure your underbust and full bust I bet SorrelForbes (and her grateful converts) would be happy to guesstimate your bra size.

RichManPoorManBeggarmanThief · 10/10/2012 10:01

I have spent 75 per bra on 2 bras before. It changed my life. Took a stone off me and made my whole top half look streamlined and lovely. Really comfortable. I just had those 2 bras and washed them by hand but definitely better than 10 bras costing £15 each

ZillionChocolate · 10/10/2012 10:01

Boomerwang I just looked it up, the reviews on their own site are mixed. Not very supportive by the sounds of it. I was put off by the bloke who said it made his wife more attractive Hmm

SomersetONeil · 10/10/2012 10:03

A good fitting bra can do wonders in terms of making you look slimme, more in proportion and even give you a better waist.

They're not just about the boobs.

Boomerwang, are you sure about your size? I also thought I could only wear full cup bras, as balconnet and push ups gave me the lovely fourboob look. Actually I just needed to go up a few cup sizes.

A good bra is revolutionary.

I have some very expensive underwear. It is true they really are "foundation" garments: in a good bra my clothes look infinitely better and I feel infinitely better both physically and mentally.

On a price per wear basis, two £90 bras are worth every penny.

StatisticallyChallenged · 10/10/2012 10:41

Sees the snickers and ripple and throws in a Christmas size tin of celebrations..

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 10/10/2012 10:47

Chucks a Lindt chocolate raindeer in as well.

Kitty I am several stone overweight (think obese not overweight) and I wear a 36 (both Rigby & Peller and Bravissimo put me in the same band size). It is possible you are a 38 but more probable that you are not.

MsRinky · 10/10/2012 10:47

I got a very beautiful La Perla bra last week. £97 allegedly. I paid £12 from T K Maxx.

MigGril · 10/10/2012 11:01

kitty to give you an idea I'm a size 14/16 dress size but only a 34 back at most, may even be a 32 at the moment but haven't been remeasured for a while a waiting until I stop feeding DS, so wearing some old bras I have that aren't totally a great fit but will do while I'm still pulling them our serval times a day feeding.

So unless your a big girl you're probably not a 38.

SorrelForbes · 10/10/2012 11:10

TBF I think StatisicallyChallenged and HazelNut are more 'expert' than I. Blush

Sossiges · 10/10/2012 11:13

MigGril snap! I am sure I went down from 34 to 32 (but didn't get measured) before getting pregnant again (now on the way up!).
OP supermarket/M&S only do huge band sizes and small cup sizes (I used to wear them before I got measured properly) so I'm with the chocolate betters that you're not a 38 band.

HazleNutt · 10/10/2012 11:18

God no Sorrel, I'm a convert myself and hence just an enthusiastic amateur.

Latara · 10/10/2012 11:24

I need some decent bras (can't find GG cups in M&S or anywhere cheaper) but i can't pay my council tax right now....

Latara · 10/10/2012 11:25

...unless i use my credit card; but i definitely couldn't justify £90 for a bra; especially not now that i'm (slowly) losing weight!

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 10/10/2012 11:28

Latara

You could try brastop
www.brastop.com/

MrsRigbyPeller · 10/10/2012 11:29

Once you go to Rigby & Peller (or indeed any proper fitting bra place) you never look back. The difference is astonishing and well worth it when you think how often you wear every day bras (personally I probably wouldn't bother for high days and holidays underwear, since I don't get that out often enough).

When I gave up the afternoon BF with DD I celebrated by doing a shopping trip to London which included a trip to R&P. Came home and conceived DS - be very careful!

MrsRigbyPeller · 10/10/2012 11:30

(Name changed obviously since that story will out me.)
