is too much? Mine cost £5 from sainsburys. Does anyone here actually buy these things?

it's honestly not rocket science, when you know about bra back sizes.

measure under boobs, your rib cage size. this is what you are.

like all other garments tho, all makes will come up differently, tho not crazily so (except m&s).

when you know what you are under your boobs, get a bra you fancy in that size off the rail, in a variation of cup sizes.

styles vary of course, but if you measure say a 34 and the 34 you pick up is way to tight, then in THAT style, try a 36, and again try different cup sizes in that band.

Fantasie. the cheapest brand we did at R&P and bloody great they are. Another tip. If you find a Fantasie bra in Debenhams you like, do what i do, go on ebay and you can find the same bra sometimes at half the price.

Remember black bras will often fit tighter than the same version in black, it's because of the dye.

hth

pm me anyone for any info.

HazleNutt · 10/10/2012 12:16

Excellent Ruby, let me know how you like them. I personally went up a cup with the longline ones, but am between sizes at the moment anyway, so you might not have to.

Jen, what about the back? If the bra band is too big, it will not sit at the same height front and back, but tends to climb up.

piratecat · 10/10/2012 12:16

'black bras will sometimes fit tighter than the same version in WHITE. i meant!

laurenamium · 10/10/2012 12:17

Marks place, will be back with measurements very soon, I'm currently wearing 38 band and they don't feel right!

Takver · 10/10/2012 12:18

So if I have a 31" measurement under bust, 32" round bust, what would that mean I wear ? (Clearly, a vest is the obvious answer Grin but I have party dresses that need a bit more encouragement)

imnotmymum · 10/10/2012 12:18

I have bras from a fiver to £150. More expensive do last longer but I like some cheap and cheerful jobbies for variety.

ScrambledSmegsEvilTwin · 10/10/2012 12:19

Bloody M&S. They measured me as a 34C, although stuck me in a 32D when it was obvious that I wasn't. Still looked rubbish.

Pre-pregnancy I got measured in a good local independent shop, and came out wearing 28FF. Best I've looked and felt in years. M&S have no idea what they're doing.

laurenamium · 10/10/2012 12:21

I'm 37 44... What's my bra size? Grin

SorrelForbes · 10/10/2012 12:24

Takver Try a 30B or a 32A.

SorrelForbes · 10/10/2012 12:24

laurenamium Try a 36FF and a 38F

JenFrankenstein · 10/10/2012 12:26

Does it make a difference that I only wear non wired bras?

laurenamium · 10/10/2012 12:29

Thank you sorrell! Why do the calculators add 5 inches to your back then when they are calculating your size? It's all so confusing!

SorrelForbes · 10/10/2012 12:32

Jen Well, I personally would find wearing a non wired bra extremely uncomfortable so I'm not surprised that you are suffering. It's a tricky one as it does all come down to personal preference. However, I think you're going to find it hard to get a good fit and the proper support without wires (especially in a H/HH).

SorrelForbes · 10/10/2012 12:42

I think it goes back years to when fabrics were less stretchy. I know that many fitters in Debenhams, HoF and JL no longer add the inches. It's a shame that their web site calculators haven't been changed to reflect that. Who knows what M&S are doing...

JenFrankenstein · 10/10/2012 12:46

Hmm. Will have to try some bras when I'm out next. Not sure where I will be able to find some in that size. Thanks for the help

vodkaanddietirnbru · 10/10/2012 12:48

38 under and 44 round the boobs - I wear 40dd normally, should I try a 38 back and E cup?

ComeAlongPond · 10/10/2012 12:48

Sorry to hijack, but does anyone have experience with either of these bras? I'm between a 28d and a 28dd and need a strapless bra, but both of these have mixed reviews:

Evie

Porcelain

piratecat · 10/10/2012 12:52

also they added the inches because say you were a 32 round the back, and prb a d onwards, they didn't have a d cup, e cup or f. they only had a.b c. manufacturers didn't have enough scope in sizes. so bung a few inches on a 32, to make a 36 b, and the CUP will fit ok, but the back won't. ie it rides up.

but as we have all seen, NOW we get measured and end up in a bra that's smaller round the ribs ( and is our correct size) and end up bigger on the cup than we realised.

makes me laugh when you see a model or busty woman who claims to be a 40 dd, but they are a size ten or something. 40 inch chest is much bigger than a size 10.

laurenamium · 10/10/2012 12:53

Oh that's interesting! I've been wearing a 38D Blush so cup size is massively wrong! Will have to do some shopping now! Thank you Grin

piratecat · 10/10/2012 12:53

vodka, if your bra is riding up at the back, you should try this. again bearing in mind manufacturers and styles do come up differently. and all our shapes are different. like our bodies.

piratecat · 10/10/2012 12:56

also, when you do up your bra, start on the loosest, as your bra will stretch as it wears, then you can tighten it more later on.

HazleNutt · 10/10/2012 13:00

Comealong I have the Evie and quite like it, does the job. But the Wonderbra Ultimate is better - does not come in 28 I think, but it is small, I needed to go a back size up, so a 30 might work.

MadameCholetWasMyFavourite · 10/10/2012 13:01

Please still be here tomorrow when I come back with my measurements!

Woozley · 10/10/2012 13:01

I read that on another thread. But there is no way in this WORLD I am a 32 E or something instead of a 36C, in spite of what people said on that thread. I couldn't get a 32 bra to fasten, or breathe in it if it did, and it would cause lumps of back fat and deep red marks! Plus there would be a big wafty gap in the cups. 36C fits perfectly, smooth, no lumps, not droopy, no riding up, no red marks so I think I'll stick with...

Woozley · 10/10/2012 13:01

...it :)
