Watching now. Teenagers being arrested. Parents seem to think that's fine and part of growing up. I cannot believe people like that exist...

Dear god, if my dd ever has to called an ambulance because of how pissed I am I won't consider that I have got 90% of her upbringing right. My midget pants are pulled up so high I'm about to strange myself!

brighthair · 17/09/2012 21:48

It's not all depressing Grin each episode has a different theme, I think next weeks is relationships
Black humour, fantastic colleagues and a hefty tea drinking problem for me personally Wink

Sunnywithachanceofshowers · 17/09/2012 21:49

I was horrified. My parents would have given me the third degree if I'd ever been arrested.

nancy75 · 17/09/2012 21:49

Sorry did not mean to put midget, meant judgey pants!

FuckityFuckFuck · 17/09/2012 21:50

I can't believe that mother has just sat there and said what a good job she thinks she has done with her daughter because 'she has a sense of independence' Shock

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 17/09/2012 21:50

I'm watching this. I was gobsmacked at the parent of Logan and the blonde girl who got arrested in the street then again at school. The mothers clearly didn't give a shit. The kids thought it was funny and probably wear it like a badge of honour. I honestly despair for the members of the next generation being brought up like this. I'd be furious if DS behaves like that when he's older.

gordyslovesheep · 17/09/2012 21:50

see you wonder why some kids don't attend school or get pregnant at 14 or never get to school on time or don't get and qualifications ...then you see their home life

I work with some amazing kids battling against really shitty starts in life

Sirzy · 17/09/2012 21:52

It does show how much of a vicious circle these things are though, the parents behaviour has so much impact on that of the children. Its breaking that cycle that is hard.

brighthair I don't know how you do your job, I would want to tell so many of them in the politest possible way to stop wasting everyones time!

FuckityFuckFuck · 17/09/2012 21:52

:o @ 'My midget pants are pulled up so high I'm about to strange myself!'

How does one 'strange' yourself :o

MacyGracy · 17/09/2012 21:52

I'd like to know what happened with the two year old?

MrsTomHardy · 17/09/2012 21:52

When the alcoholic mum said she didnt know how her daughter felt as they never spoke about it......how sad!

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 17/09/2012 21:52

BrightHair are you actually featured talking to camera on this show?

brighthair · 17/09/2012 21:53

I was filmed however we haven't seen the programme, we are viewing it as everyone else so no idea! My voice was on last week and I featured in the Sun tv mag last weekend

NinthWave · 17/09/2012 21:54

brighthair I too am in awe of you and your colleagues. I work for a Govt helpline and I have some harrowing calls, but can't imagine doing your job.

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 17/09/2012 21:55

How exciting for you! You do a great job. Can I just ask how you got into the job?

nancy75 · 17/09/2012 21:56

Fuckity, my iPad is trying to make me look like a drunken mother! Serves me right for judging!

DesperatelySeekingSedatives · 17/09/2012 21:56

YANBU the 2 year old boy made me sad. He wasnt the least bit scared that he couldnt find his mum. And it took her over an hour to notice he'd gone! Such a happy lovely little boy too!

Can't believe they returned that baby home! the one that fell off the kitchen work top. I know there is loads more to it but still that poor little baby!

Byecklove · 17/09/2012 21:56

Just want to give that baby a cuddle Sad

bitbizzare · 17/09/2012 21:56

Bright, just to let you know you and your colleagues across the UK do a fab job. Am unfortunately often having to dial 999 and am always put through to lovely calm voices. One woman spoke to me for forty minutes once.. Just wanted to say thanks :) x

gordyslovesheep · 17/09/2012 21:57

Brighthair hats off to you and your colleagues - I couldn;t do it!

Throughgrittedteeth · 17/09/2012 21:57

I'm completely shocked about all of the above too but my DB managed to get out the house at 6am one morning when he was 2, by climbing over a stair gate then dragging a kitchen chair to the front door and unlocking the safety chain.. He wondered into the corner shop up the road (which was open luckily!) and told the lady he wanted to buy our other DB some sweets Shock

He was/is a bit of a Houdini but this was the worse by far. Not an excuse for those parents but an example of a very resourceful child!

brighthair · 17/09/2012 21:57

I just came across it advertised and applied! 5 years this year

Notcontent · 17/09/2012 21:57

That poor baby. The policeman summed up the problem well - there are so many children living in really shitty homes, with shitty parents, but often there is little anyone can do.

I am totally Shock about the parents in this even though I didn't think I was that naive about life!

I also have a personal connection to the programme (am not on but know a lot of the people who are) and even I am amazed by the stuff they have to deal with!

SminkoPinko · 17/09/2012 22:00

Andrea's daughter is amazing.
