Watching now. Teenagers being arrested. Parents seem to think that's fine and part of growing up. I cannot believe people like that exist...

This woman cried rape and performed sex acts in front of children Hmm

All totally respectful

BupcakesandCunting · 18/09/2012 11:57

Meh.

I'm just saying that I don't think any of us are that dense that we don't know why she is prostituting herself.

Kayano · 18/09/2012 11:57

To balance it - he is a dirty slimy minging desperate dickhead. Better?

dawntigga · 18/09/2012 11:57

I've lived in this type of area and know policemen from the town I now live in. It horrible but it's everywhere - even in the naice areas.

As Boffinmum said unless there is a huge shake up where the children of these families are shown that there is another way there is very little that will change. I suggest that every outstanding performing school be made to take a % of children from underclass families as a start. I'm not sure that this will work but I've no other ideas on how to solve it.

It is perfectly possible to say that individual acts are not good while showing empathy and respect for the individual doing them. What is not reasonable is to mock an individual who the poster herself says probably has a shit life because of drugs and/or drink.

Kayano · 18/09/2012 11:59

She's the reason some people don't believe women. She is the anti 'we believe you'

Sorry I don't respect her
Yes she. Must have had it hard but so did that girl with the a-levels

TroublesomeEx · 18/09/2012 12:00

Exactly Kayano.

BupcakesandCunting · 18/09/2012 12:01

Oh I forgot you're not allowed to make jokes on MN. I do apologise.

Kayano · 18/09/2012 12:01

I don't see why people think there is an automatic right to respect? It's like saying I do not condone murder but respect Ian Brady.

So no, I don't respect her at all

TroublesomeEx · 18/09/2012 12:01

EatsBrainsAndLeaves · 18/09/2012 12:01

Men and some other women dont believe women about rape because they dont want to believe so many women get raped. Her actions have nothing to do with why women in general are not believed about rape.

And yes others have it very hard too. i am not asking anyone to rate who has had a harder life, just not to mock women.

TroublesomeEx · 18/09/2012 12:02

I think it's quite hard to have respect for a stranger who has no respect for themselves though.

wannabedomesticgoddess · 18/09/2012 12:02

I think as a policeman/woman it is probably very necessary at times to detach from situations.

The police arent there to be everyones friend. She was committing a crime. Why should her background have anything to do with the officer? The only one humiliating her and degrading her was her.

EatsBrainsAndLeaves · 18/09/2012 12:02

Bupcakes - Yes jokes about prostitution are not okay. Just as jokes about rape and sexual assault are not okay. Or do you think it is okay to say anything if it is said in a joke format?

BupcakesandCunting · 18/09/2012 12:03

I don't mock women exclusively. I'm an equal opportunities mocker.

Proudnscary · 18/09/2012 12:03

Sorry if someone else has said this, but I wasn't shocked at all at the 'blame the government/police/teachers/society' attitude from shit parents - but shocked at the amount of pastoral care the police provide.

I was amazed (but impressed) that they followed up by visiting the three year old's house and even checking their fridge and cupboars for food. And that the alcoholic mum had perisently called 999 but received not only visits but follow up check ups.

I guess when SS is groaning with cases, the lines have to blur.

WokingOnSunshine · 18/09/2012 12:03

OTOH, if she actually HAD been raped, it would be unlikely that she would be taken seriously. So I guess she has been abused quite a lot.

BupcakesandCunting · 18/09/2012 12:03

Prostitution is not the same as rape/sexual assault. Hmm

TroublesomeEx · 18/09/2012 12:04

I think it shows just how much pressure all the services (health, education, police) are from families like this.

TroublesomeEx · 18/09/2012 12:04

are under

sashh · 18/09/2012 12:04

I know alcoholism is an illness...but the pure denial is sickening.

That's one of the problems. The alcoholic doesn't remember shitting themselves and having dc slean them up, or keeping them awake all night or 100 other things.

The alcoholic sees the nice, clean, clever girl in nicely ironed clothes and great grades and assumes it is down to her great parenting.

Andrea's daughter - you deserve a medal.

lotsofteddies

What makes you think the copper is educated? Some are, some aren't.

BupcakesandCunting · 18/09/2012 12:04

"The police arent there to be everyones friend. She was committing a crime. Why should her background have anything to do with the officer? The only one humiliating her and degrading her was her."

^this.

TroublesomeEx · 18/09/2012 12:05

I think if you're approaching teenage boys under the pier you're pretty open to contempt.

EatsBrainsAndLeaves · 18/09/2012 12:05

Respect is not about liking everything an individual does. Respect in this context is about recognising that this woman is an actual human being. Laughing or mocking her misfortune to be prostituted for a fiver, is treating her as less than human.

And comparing a woman who is a prostitute to a man who tortured, sexually assaulted and murdered children is disgusting.

Kayano · 18/09/2012 12:06

Of course women like her have an affect. Her first contact was a policeman, a policeman who also has to deal with genuine victims. So of course because of people like her he has to question and quiz more thoroughly and can be traumatising for women. To say she has no impact on the front line who deal with rape victims is naive at best, bloody stupidity at worst

Woman A: I've been raped
Policeman: really?
Woman A: no, just kidding!

Woman B: please help I have been raped
Policeman: really? Hmm
Woman B: distraught at being asked
