Sick of the bashing

Where shall I start..... I am sick to death of everyone taking the piss out of 50 Shades books, okay so it's not the best written book in the world but the amount of people who start threads about how they think it's shit is really getting on my nerves. Lets be honest the only reason you people start threads like that is because you know everyone will jump on the bandwagon like a fucking sheep and that makes you feel powerful.

Get a grip....just get a grip.

I havent read the books, because the subject matter doesn't interest me in the slightest. I have heard enough to know that Christian Grey is the sort of man who would make me bloody angry, and I have no intention of giving the writer a penny of my hard earned money when she thinks it is acceptable for a woamn to be treated in this manner.

McHappyPants2012 · 17/09/2012 14:33

What i enjoyed about the books was reading how the 'relationship' develops.

TheQueenOfDiamonds · 17/09/2012 14:44

OP, Do you not care then, how offensive this trash is the a whole community of people?

Would you enjoy it if it made generalizations about single mums? They 'obviously' got that way because they're too messed up for a proper family, right?

gossipgirl1 · 17/09/2012 14:51

Lets stay on topic shall we. I enjoyed that to Mchappypants.

OP posts:
valiumredhead · 17/09/2012 14:53

No one has strayed from the topic. At all. [confused}

seeker · 17/09/2012 14:54

The comments about the baby?

Him "marking" her so she won't be able to go topless?

Him buying the company she works for and sacking her boss?

gossipgirl1 · 17/09/2012 15:05

erm...the comment about single mums is off topic.

OP posts:
ClippedPhoenix · 17/09/2012 15:09

I read them. They are what they are, so what. Quite enjoyed the first one then HAD to read the rest. If I start something I have to finish it. The email banter was rather funny in places. The sex got rather boring though Grin

ClippedPhoenix · 17/09/2012 15:11

After all it is only fiction you know Grin

seeker · 17/09/2012 15:12

Ok- so definitely not prepared to answer the difficult questions.

Stupid then.

waltermittymissus · 17/09/2012 16:07

Clipped have you read the thread? Do you agree that he is abusive?

Gossip are you just going to ignore all the difficult questions?

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 17/09/2012 16:39

Haha, I had a "christian grey is an abusive piece of shit, and no I havent read it" thread. months ago, when a few people actually cared
Such threads that the OP has such a problem with...

I stand by my thread.
HTH. :)

StaceeJaxx · 17/09/2012 17:04

I'll tell you what I'm fucking sick of, 50 shades of this and 50 shades of that. I haven't read the books, I have no desire to read the books, I don't want to hear about the books, I don't give a shit who christian grey is or who should play him, I don't care who's read the books, I don't care who hasn't read the books. I'm sick to the back teeth of the whole sorry saga, and I hadn't actually heard it in a while. And then you OP start this thread and drag it all back up again. Hmm I clicked on this thread because I thought it was about something worthy like parking spaces or owt.

TheQueenOfDiamonds · 17/09/2012 17:06

Gossip - No it's not, its exactly the same thing. How can you justify this books offensiveness to a whole community of people? (IE the BDSM community)? James had an opprtunity to bring positive attention to a hugely misunderstood lifestyle and she blew it, It's disgustingly offensive.

Hullygully · 17/09/2012 17:08

yeah but they are shit

TheQueenOfDiamonds · 17/09/2012 17:08

Also, gossip How do you justify the disgusting misrepresentation of mental health issues that repeatedly crop up through the book?

gossipgirl1 · 17/09/2012 17:12

seeker i have actually been out for the last hour and a half, believe it or not I actually have better things to do than to it in my house than wait for replies.

To answer your questions..... I actually dont see the problem with buying the company she works for. Her boss deserved to be sacked.

Marking her and the baby comments were uncalled for I agree but that doesnt make me stupid for enjoying the trilogy as a whole.

DuelingFanjo · 17/09/2012 17:13

Yabu particularly if that kind of shit turns you on and if you think the male character is something to lust after. It's the fiction version of grief porn.

TheBigJessie · 17/09/2012 17:19

www.99shadesofgrey.com/

That's all I have to say to the OP.

valiumredhead · 17/09/2012 17:20

www.99shadesofgrey.com/

seeker · 17/09/2012 17:22

And the fact that she is constantly terrified of his completely unpredictable anger?

RVPisnomore · 17/09/2012 17:24

OP are you the author of the 3 books by chance.........?

Empusa · 17/09/2012 17:40

"i read it as christian saying it, i may have read it wrong. The line before say"

"Christian blanches and sups my belly."
""I am not going through that again. Elective caesarian this time""

"if i am wrong i stand corrected"

Given how he spends the majority of the time making decisions for her, that's even worse!

Chandon · 17/09/2012 17:46

Sorry, OP , I am just grinning at you describing us powerful sheep...

Lol

Jux · 17/09/2012 17:46

Oh bloody hell. OP, do you think it's fine for 10 y o girls to read it? Just interested.

The only person I know who has read it (or admits to having read it) says it is badly written abuse porn. Her very words.
