Sick of the bashing

Where shall I start..... I am sick to death of everyone taking the piss out of 50 Shades books, okay so it's not the best written book in the world but the amount of people who start threads about how they think it's shit is really getting on my nerves. Lets be honest the only reason you people start threads like that is because you know everyone will jump on the bandwagon like a fucking sheep and that makes you feel powerful.

Get a grip....just get a grip.

well to hear people witter on about how it has perked up their love life is what i object to more i do not want to hear it thanks

the books are a better as a cure for insomnia than improving a boring sex imo

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep · 16/09/2012 22:18

And how do you know the book doesn't enjoy being bashed?!
Honestly, you are so vanilla... Grin

Grin Excellent point boulevard.

But maybe this is all a cunning double bluff, and the OP just wants us to give her the rough side of our tongues for a while. As it were.

Sorry, my post looks horrible after that cross-post. I'll stop pissing around now. You're right joyful.

SundaysGirl · 16/09/2012 22:20

It's just a really weird phenomenon based on the popularity of fanfic and that the author was heavily involved in this which was what enabled her to get the ball rolling and for her not to be yet another terrible erotic writer mouldering away self-publishing shitty porny e-books.

She's been incredibly lucky and I think a lot of people hate the fact that these days people are bloody sheep and will buy anything just because it's trending.

There are so many really great books with this sort of erotica out there it sucks that these are the ones to 'make it'. Not to mention anyone remotely interested in actual BDSM is crying with laughter / banging their head against the wall.....(mind you some BDSM'ers like that sort of thing Wink )

missymoomoomee · 16/09/2012 22:21

I read until she gave him a bj and called him her very own Mr Grey flavoured Popsicle, or some such shit and laughed so much I couldn't take it seriously. Don't think I'm missing much.

gossipgirl1 · 16/09/2012 22:22

I agree thats its not the best written book, but what gets to me is that if you like it you automatically get labelled as being thick and having bad taste in books. I read everything from Shakesphere to Dickens but when I told a friend I liked these books I got called thick. Just so you know the first book is not that good but the story really gets going in the second and third one so to those of you who have only read the first one don't give up.

Rowanhart · 16/09/2012 22:22

Boulevard Grin

OP get a life. You are talking about her as if she is real. And to be honest the books are poorly written porn for saddo sexually repressed women.

Rowanhart · 16/09/2012 22:22

Or sexually starved may be more accurate.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 16/09/2012 22:24

Well, I think Dickens is shite, does that help?

No, I take your point, it's nasty to sneer at people as being thick for liking something, if they don't like the style it's written in.

I'd object to the books not so much for the style, as because I really do think the sex stuff is nasty.

PretzelTime · 16/09/2012 22:25

I'm sick of hearing about it.

P.s. It sucks

SundaysGirl · 16/09/2012 22:25

Um but if you like a badly written book you DO have a shit taste in books. I doubt anyone will say they think it is well written, even the woman who wrote it said she thought it wasn't well written. Therefor liking it = having a shite taste in books.

BlackberryIce · 16/09/2012 22:25

Ah, so it's your friend who is bashing it and calling you 'thick' that you have the problem with!?

SundaysGirl · 16/09/2012 22:26

Oh crap I contributed twice to a 50 Shades thread. Well three times now. I'm off to self-flaggellate....

LadyWidmerpool · 16/09/2012 22:26

A fucking sheep would have trouble simultaneously jumping on a bandwagon. [helpful]

CleoSmackYa · 16/09/2012 22:26

I have to agree with the majority of the posters.

Also, it is abuse.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 16/09/2012 22:27

Really? I like lots of badly written books. Oh well, shit taste in books it is, never mind.

It's not the only thing the OP reads.

Shakey1500 · 16/09/2012 22:27

I already have given up. But, if you like it then you like it. If you are secure in your opinion of the book, why the need to defend yourself?

scottishmummy · 16/09/2012 22:29

getting a grip is you being less earnest about wank book
people take piss because it's dreadful
not sure why your reaction is so powerful

gossipgirl1 · 16/09/2012 22:32

BlackberryIce in a way yes...... but when I have read all the other threads a lot of people who were bashing the book admitted to not even reading it themselves, so yes they are jumping on the bandwagon.

So SundaysGirl... I have read and enjoyed Jane Eyre, Macbeth, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and a lot more and just because I enjoyed this trilogy I have bad taste in books...okay

OP posts:
seeker · 16/09/2012 22:33

The relationship is abusive. It perpetuates the myth that women are responsible for the behaviour and emotional state of men. There is no story and it's badly written. Oh, and it makes a certain type of woman go all nauseatingly wide eyed and giggly about how naughty they are for reading it.

Apart from that it's perfect.

You're not thick for reading it. But you are thick if you think it's anything but crap.

SundaysGirl · 16/09/2012 22:34

Yep basically I think anyone who can stomach it has a screw loose and a bad taste in books. If you can read and appreciate the ones you mentioned and STILL like 50 Shades then i'm astounded.

scottishmummy · 16/09/2012 22:34

look that's how books go,you may love others loathe
doesn't make anyone a sheep
this is an astonishing over reaction though
