Sick of the bashing

Where shall I start..... I am sick to death of everyone taking the piss out of 50 Shades books, okay so it's not the best written book in the world but the amount of people who start threads about how they think it's shit is really getting on my nerves. Lets be honest the only reason you people start threads like that is because you know everyone will jump on the bandwagon like a fucking sheep and that makes you feel powerful.

Get a grip....just get a grip.

valiumredhead · 17/09/2012 08:40

And worryingly 50 shades was originally fan fiction for Twighlight fans who are TEENAGERS ffs!

Viviennemary · 17/09/2012 08:41

People start threads about 50 shades being rubbish because it is rubbish. I confess I was a sheep and gave it and bought it. What a load of drivel.

Absolutely she's read "The Story of O"

And a lot of those "Black Lace" books that were popular in the 80's. Although you couldn't buy those in Tesco.

Ilovedaintynuts · 17/09/2012 08:53

For me it is utter and complete disbelief that a book that shite is being read by so many people and (allegedly) enjoyed. It must have a reading age of 7? A badly, badly written book for deviant 7 year olds.

I now judge people on whether they like it or don't like it. I literally do not feel the same way about people who say they enjoyed the books. They must be thick and ignorant on so many levels, my mind boggles.

I still half think its the Emperor's New Clothes and women are saying they like them because it's 'cool'. At least that's what I'm hoping.

TheTermagantToaster · 17/09/2012 08:54

This thread reminds me of that tooth-gnashing, weeping fan telling everyone to leave poor Britney alone. It's slightly bonkers to get so upset about this!

I agree wholeheartedly with PPs that the books are misogynistic, badly written tripe.

OTheHugeManatee · 17/09/2012 08:59

OP, YABreallyquitebizarrelyU. 50 Shades of Mumsnet is possibly the funniest thread ever Grin

OTheHugeManatee · 17/09/2012 08:59

Confused Shock

ilovetermtime · 17/09/2012 09:05

I'm reading it at the moment and it's sooooooo shit it's almost unbelievable. It's so obviously an abusive relationship that it's making me feel a bit ill, and I haven't even got to a sex scene yet.

What's puzzling me is that Ana appears to recognise that he's a weird controlling stalker, but let's it go because he's good looking. Eh? How shallow is she?

I am also looking at friends who like this book differently, and wondering about their relationships as they obviously have a completely different idea to what is normal or romantic to me.

I also can't believe that the OP read this thred and still doesn't get it! Think her mate had a point!

valiumredhead · 17/09/2012 09:05

OMG Shock Shock Shock

'Leave Britney ALONE, she's not well right now' - she's not the only one dear!

Was that a young boy or girl in the video - I couldn't tell and kept being distracted my upper lip hair...

Kayano · 17/09/2012 09:07

I loved leave britney alone Grin lol

Seriously this thread makes me weep. Op are you EL James?

SuePurblybilt · 17/09/2012 09:41

There was another Leave Britney vid, something to do with Twilight actors, wasn't there? Equally heartfelt Grin

I think seeker is spot on. How depressing that the such mainstream porn has such abusive themes.

Longdistance · 17/09/2012 10:07

Sorry, but 50 Shades was literary piece of rubbish. Repetitive, and poorly written imo.

There's been far too much hype about this series of books. I read it for our book club, and was sorely disappointed at all the drivel.
But, no I'm not a sheep either. I have my own opinions thank you!

OTheHugeManatee · 17/09/2012 10:11

Finally, isn't 'sheep jumping on a bandwagon' a bit of a mixed metaphor? Confused Grin

TheGoldenKnid · 17/09/2012 10:14

And even more finally, I would say that 'sheep jumping on a bandwagon' might apply even more to all the people who bought and read the books because of all the hype.

TheGoldenKnid · 17/09/2012 10:16

In any case, I don't think sheep can jump high enough to jump on a bandwagon. Somebody would have to shove them up there.

ilovetermtime · 17/09/2012 10:19

Just wanted to add that I didn't buy the book, just borrowed it. Thank god.

TheQueenOfDiamonds · 17/09/2012 10:24

Was that a young boy or girl in the video - I couldn't tell and kept being distracted my upper lip hair...

It's a young lad, his name is Chris Crocker, He does dress as a female sometimes, and he was in a relationship with Jeffree star.

OTheHugeManatee · 17/09/2012 10:25

Maybe it's a bandwagon with very small wheels, Knid?

Like this, perhaps.

valiumredhead · 17/09/2012 10:26

Thanks for clearing that up Queen Grin

TheGoldenKnid · 17/09/2012 10:29

It might be, OTheHuge, but you wouldn't get many sheep on that bandwagon, and getting lots of sheep is the whole point, isn't it. And I think they would still struggle to jump onto that one. Also, the OP was talking about fucking sheep jumping on the bandwagon - how would they do that whilst fucking?

I think we need more details from the OP.

OTheHugeManatee · 17/09/2012 10:38

What about this?

It's at least big enough for two sheep to have sex on, provided it's not moving along too fast and the ground is relatively smooth.

TheGoldenKnid · 17/09/2012 10:41

That might work, but I'm not sure how they would either read the book or bash it at the same time as making sweet sheep love.

McHappyPants2012 · 17/09/2012 10:41

OP i am worried that you can not see the abuse.

3rd book, she is on the beach with other people who are also sun bathing topless . Christian tells her to cover up and she does so that night he coveres her in Hickeys so she don't do it again then say "well, you wo't take your top off again" as some sort of justificaton and make it out to be her fault

Kayano · 17/09/2012 10:41

Wait a minute... Sheep jumping on a bandwagon is so terrible that OP HAS TO BE EL JAMES
