To lock our bollard into place?

Someone has parked on our drive for the third time this week - I have no idea who they are as both times they've been there when I come back from the morning school run and gone when I come back from the evening one.

The last owners of our house installed a small bollard that can be pulled up from the ground and padlocked in place. It makes it impossible to get into our out of the drive. I've already left 2 polite notes asking them not to park on our drive. AIBU if I lock the bollard and go out for a few hours?

Please get one of your children (or DH) film their reaction surreptitiously when they roll up tonight to collect their wagon. We need to see this.

Locked into place?

Any chance you could 'lose' the key?

TheCraicDealer · 13/09/2012 16:13

hpsaucy · 13/09/2012 16:14

Loving this Grin

I once had to stop dh drunkenly driving a large wooden post into the service strip at the end of our garden as our neighbours relatives had once again parked across it. I tried to explain that it might not be best for neighbourly relations bearing in mind we had not long been living here. As I type this I have just noticed the same neighbours have put their bin on the same bit of our garden as they have done for the past ten years without fail Maybe I should have just let dh put the post in the ground after all... Hmm.

HairyToothbrush · 13/09/2012 16:14

I wish I could be there to see their faces when they come back for their car! I can't believe anyone would have the cheek to park on someones drive! Can't wait until 6!

Ooh I love parking disputes, they fascinate me! It never ceases to amaze me at the sheer brass neck of some folk. Can't wait to hear an update.

StealthPolarBear · 13/09/2012 16:29

Just adding a witty insightful comment and marking my place

MrsRajeshKoothrappali · 13/09/2012 16:30

Didn't pagwatch once shut the gates on a car that someone left on her driveway? I'm sure she did and I don't think she got her head kicked in either

Don't usually mark my place on threads but this is too great to miss!

We had letters sent home from school about not only parking across drives nearby for pick up/drop off but on them too! I was Shock how anybody could think its ok to park on a strangers drive! Jeez I was shouted at by a man near ds's nursery for doing a 3 point turn where I went on the pavement in front of his drive as the road was ridiculously narrow!

LadyofWinterfell · 13/09/2012 16:34

It's illegal to park across a dropped kerb afaik and you can be ticketed for it. The PCSOs who patrol near our school have ticketed several persistant offenders while we've watched and smirked Blush

Only 86 minutes to go! :o

skyrocketsinflight · 13/09/2012 16:36

marking place for 6pm, is it wrong i am excited. its been a slow day.

I don't miss the parking wars at my old house, 10 spaces only 5 people have cars some how its always full after 9am Hmm
I arrive home from work at 4, to find someone has parked over 2 spaces and no where to put my car.

I park behind it blocking them in go in house and watch from window.
woman comes back, is on the phone moaning that she is blocked in.
I come out the house, asking which house she lives in since she is blocked in,
she replies she doesnt live there
SO WHY DO YOU THINK ITS OK TO HAVE 2 SPACES LET ALONE ONE THEN??

woman starts to cry, i walk off and then move car after leaving her alone to cry for 10 minutes.

she never parked their again.

mistlethrush · 13/09/2012 16:36

Puddycat - fantastic result!!!

3duracellbunnies · 13/09/2012 16:38

Shamelessly parking in the middle of the thread for 6pm. Will your oh be home, maybe he can film the reaction for us.

Lack of courtesy on school run parking annoys me, tars all parents with the same brush.
