To lock our bollard into place?

Someone has parked on our drive for the third time this week - I have no idea who they are as both times they've been there when I come back from the morning school run and gone when I come back from the evening one.

The last owners of our house installed a small bollard that can be pulled up from the ground and padlocked in place. It makes it impossible to get into our out of the drive. I've already left 2 polite notes asking them not to park on our drive. AIBU if I lock the bollard and go out for a few hours?

Tiredmumno1 · 13/09/2012 18:34

Whoops that wasn't the outcome we all thought was going to be

WellHello · 13/09/2012 18:34

Oh wow, feel sorry for the poor girl :( oh well, all done and dusted. The suspense was murderous!!

PunkInDublic · 13/09/2012 18:34

Agree with IawnCont. Why not just knock on the door or leave a note explaining?

scurryfunge · 13/09/2012 18:34

Sheds a tear.....

zippy539 · 13/09/2012 18:34

Phew - actually quite relieved that you weren't confronted by a road-rage-parking loon. (Thanks for coming back - was on tender-hooks!).

cookielovesorange · 13/09/2012 18:34

Restored my faith in humanity. Smile

AllOverIt · 13/09/2012 18:36

I wouldn't have parked there more than once after getting a note, despite what he said.

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 13/09/2012 18:37

Why would YBU to raise a bollard on your own property? They are taking the piss.

MadBusLady · 13/09/2012 18:38

No, I think that's a nice ending! I bet you're glad you were polite throughout now, I'd have got much shirtier and assumed they were bastards taking the piss and be all Blush now. She sounds a bit dim though, I wouldn't park in someone's drive because a friend of theirs told me they "wouldn't mind!".

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 13/09/2012 18:38

She shouldn't have just ignored the notes tbh.

Glad the outcome was ok though ish

MaidenDevon · 13/09/2012 18:39

Thank God you didn't shit on the bonnet and shove a banana up the exhaust.Grin

FrustratedSycamorePants · 13/09/2012 18:39

Glad it wasn't an aggressive person op

Catsmamma · 13/09/2012 18:41

oh silly mare....she should have just written on your note and put it back in your letterbox!

Never mind you lot - I am very relieved it turned out as it did. I came back early as i couldn't enjoy the pizza I was terrified I might have unleashed the hounds of hell or worse upon myself and my family.

Its exactly the sort of thing my friend would do. He's a lovely bloke but has difficulty understanding normal boundaries whcih can cause problems - sigh
