To lock our bollard into place?

Someone has parked on our drive for the third time this week - I have no idea who they are as both times they've been there when I come back from the morning school run and gone when I come back from the evening one.

The last owners of our house installed a small bollard that can be pulled up from the ground and padlocked in place. It makes it impossible to get into our out of the drive. I've already left 2 polite notes asking them not to park on our drive. AIBU if I lock the bollard and go out for a few hours?

How long had she been waiting? were you nice to her or a bit growly?

diddl · 13/09/2012 18:44

So you left notes-but she still only spoke to the guy she cares for about it?Confused

WTAF??!!

Silly cow!

Sparklingbrook · 13/09/2012 18:46

I like the alternative ending, better than an axe wielding maniac TBH.

MadBusLady · 13/09/2012 18:46

Sounds like a professional lesson for her, really. If she was young, maybe still learning to apply the theory of people who have difficulty with social boundaries to the practice of it.

littlebluechair · 13/09/2012 18:47

Aw, glad it all ended well, she was silly not to sort it out with you but no harm done all round.

I am a little disappointed there was no major drama though!

KenLeeeeeee · 13/09/2012 18:55

AIBU to be a little disappointed that it wasn't handbags at dawn?

NervousAt20 · 13/09/2012 18:58

Glad it all ended well but thought hoped there would have been abit more drama Grin

diddl · 13/09/2012 19:01

"he really should have ASKED ME FIRST"

Of course.

But that doesn´t explain why she would carry on after getting notes from you.

Why would she think that what he said was more important?

skyebluesapphire · 13/09/2012 19:01

Disappointed now lol, just read 7 pages to catch up for that, lol.

Glad it was a happy outcome though.

gettingeasier · 13/09/2012 19:06

I am not surprised you didnt enjoy your pizza !

I was a bit concerned a few moments of bravada egged on by MN could end in tears

Actually I am glad its ended well because it scares me when I read about the nutso people out there like the other thread earlier in the week where someone routinely used the OPs drive as her own

diddl · 13/09/2012 19:10

I´d probably have put the bollard up after going out to preventt herr getting onto the drive.

Of course, with no car there, she could have parked across it!

MrsRajeshKoothrappali · 13/09/2012 19:15

I expect the girl will park there again tomorrow.....!

Wink
BellaVita · 13/09/2012 19:16

Glad it was all sorted.

Ephiny · 13/09/2012 19:17

Glad to hear it got sorted out, yes hopefully it'll be a useful lesson for her! She really should have checked with you.

sugarice · 13/09/2012 19:17

Well I'm glad the parking twat wasn't a wanker but even so she was taking the piss for not knocking or putting a note through the door.

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 13/09/2012 19:34

I should read the whole thread before posting messages of righteous indignation next time Blush

RuleBritannia · 13/09/2012 19:34

I'm back now after Downton Abbey and yesterday's left over risotto. Like skyebluesapphire, I had to read through loads of pages to reach the end. I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed that there were no bruises. As for the 'carer', she must have been a bit thick not to reply to the notes left by the OP.

lisaro · 13/09/2012 19:36

Puts away excitement and Tena Lady and buggers off to work.

Secondsop · 13/09/2012 19:42

Glad it's sorted out. And, although the girl obviously should have checke with you after the first note at the very least, glad that it wasn't someone just parking there with absolutely no basis for it whatsoever.

I wonder what behaviour the previous owners were trying to combat with the bollard in the first place though?!

CassandraApprentice · 13/09/2012 19:46

I don't get why she thought it would be O.K with out checking with the persons whose drive it is - at least as a general courtesy but especially after the notes.

Well - glad it sorted for you OP and the culprits has learnt a valuable lesson with out any damage to herself or her property - just a bit of a shock and few tears.

StateofConfusion · 13/09/2012 20:00

So she's a carer for someone with learning difficulties and she took his word for it after notes asking her to not park there. Where did she get her qualifications, a kinder egg.

diddl · 13/09/2012 20:01

It is a bit of a worry, isn´t it that she doesn´t appear to be able to think for herself!

WineGoggles · 13/09/2012 20:18

OP glad it was sorted without any nastiness. Poor girl, but so silly of her not to have checked with you after she got your first note rather than taking her client's word for it. Total lack of common sense but hopefully she's learnt a valuable lesson.

MrsKwazii · 13/09/2012 21:32

Glad it was all sorted out amicably OP, like other posters I was a bit worried that you might be faced with an utter numpty.

Thumbwitch · 14/09/2012 11:06

Oh I am glad that it's been sorted out (hopefully!) and that you didn't have any nasty fall out from it.
I hope the poor girl realises now that she can't just take the word of a patient/client/whatever the appropriate term is, that she should have cleared it with you herself as well - especially after getting the notes, they should have been a MASSIVE hint that he hadn't ok'd it with you first!

Hope you don't have any further problems. :)
