To lock our bollard into place?

Someone has parked on our drive for the third time this week - I have no idea who they are as both times they've been there when I come back from the morning school run and gone when I come back from the evening one.

The last owners of our house installed a small bollard that can be pulled up from the ground and padlocked in place. It makes it impossible to get into our out of the drive. I've already left 2 polite notes asking them not to park on our drive. AIBU if I lock the bollard and go out for a few hours?

Bloody love crazy parking wars threads, shamelessly marking place.
pudeycat your story is epic. Grin

Knittingnovice · 13/09/2012 15:37

Shameless place marking here too

Trazzletoes · 13/09/2012 15:37

Another shameless place-marker. OP I sooooooo wish I had your nerve! I mean, seriously, who parks on someone else's drive?!

PurplePidjin · 13/09/2012 15:38

:o

TittyWhistles · 13/09/2012 15:39

Do it.

But remember, they know where you live and if they're pig headed enough to park there in the first place, you might have to be ready for some serious shit going down dude (ahem)

gettingeasier · 13/09/2012 15:41

Love that story puddey!

Ephiny · 13/09/2012 15:42

YANBU at all. Who does things like that? I can't imagine having the nerve to park on someone else's actual drive!

NHSdoingmyheadin · 13/09/2012 15:44

The bare faced cheek! really? why would someone do that - unless they got the wrong house like I did Blush went on a course in same City where DHs friend lived (150 miles from home - only met friend once) and parking was really expensive.. DH arranged for me to leave car on drive at friends house, he lived at 24... friends left for work at 8 on the monday, i got there for 12, parked up on "his drive" - went off to course. Tuesday night, friend phoned husband and asked if id changed my mind as no car on driveway.... husband called me frantic that car (we only had it 2 months) had been nicked.... missed all calls as I was (ahem) "networking" in the bar.... got message at 1130 at night from DH saying his friend had "found" the car on the drive of 34! DH got the number wrong! I was over DD limit that evening.

Had to go to course next morning, dreading collecting car that evening, when I got there I had every intention of knocking the door to apologise - honest - and offer some money as a way of apology (husband suggested 50 quid would be fair ) - and saw quite a few angry "man sprawl" notes all over my windscreen. I bottled it and drove off!

Fast forward 2 years - still had same car, friend has a baby. We were invited to the Christening, got to church and the neighbour, who had also been invited, recognised the car. He called me a pillock! and after some drinks could actually laugh about it... oh but the shame.... Blush

ILiveInAPineapple · 13/09/2012 15:46

I would do it! Can't wait to find out what happens! My DH would love a bollard in front of our garage, bloody neighbours think they can park there when they have visitors without even asking because we also have a bit of drive beside our garage, makes me rage! Thing is, I'd be happy if they just asked!!!

People are so inconsiderate with parking. I'd love to see their face when they get back to a locked in car!

nilbyname · 13/09/2012 15:47

Oh gosh I know this is not the done thing at all, but I am marking my place!!

vampiresdontsparkle · 13/09/2012 15:47

this is why i have gates across my drive ( i dont drive and they were there when i moved in! ) :D

hopenglory · 13/09/2012 15:48

I wonder if they are there waiting?

Schlock · 13/09/2012 15:49

Haterz gonna hate my little place marker.

As an aside but on a related note, a very sweet little tiny camper van has been regularly parking outside my house fairly regularly recently (perfectly legally parked). It has lots of cute girly decoration on it. This morning my dd2's lift to school accidentally nudged it when doing a 3 point turn and big burly bloke in his boxers leapt out of the back Shock Grin

BuntCadger · 13/09/2012 15:50

puddey Grin that was outstanding

Also shamelessly marking space for 6 o'clock showdown...

There will be an AIBU thread later about someone 'accidentally' parking on a drive they thought was a friends and being blocked in Wink

I want yellow mines here. Only one allocated space per house and one cunty family who have 5 feckin cars

CleoSmackYa · 13/09/2012 15:54

OP, I love you. Also in love with puddeycat. Has made me smile! Will be waiting on tenterhooks for 6 o'clock!

MrsCarriePooter · 13/09/2012 15:54

On threads where people are complaining about people parking across their driveways, isn't there something about it being an offence to block access to the public thoroughfare always being quoted? Wouldn't want you to get into trouble.

Oh look - I seem to have accidentally marked my place.

theladylovescupcakes · 13/09/2012 15:56

Another one shamelessly marking my place! Good on you for having the balls!

OhWouldYouJust · 13/09/2012 15:57

Puddeycat - thats just amazing! Would have loved to have been a fly on the wall!! OP i love your style :) marking my place for 6pm!!

sillymillyb · 13/09/2012 15:57

Shamelessly marking place for later.... Love it!

CoffeeDog · 13/09/2012 15:57

Clearlymisunderstood · 13/09/2012 15:59

catpark · 13/09/2012 15:59

Wonder what the reaction from the car owner will be. would love to see it !

NorbertDentressangle · 13/09/2012 16:01

Grin puddeycat -well played! Take a bow!

I'd love to have been a fly on the wall when the woman realised the police had twigged that she had no tax and insurance

DontmindifIdo · 13/09/2012 16:01

I'm just marking my place, I love these sorts of threads!!!!

FruitSaladIsNotPudding · 13/09/2012 16:04

These threads are great. Righteous anger is so satisfying. Sadly, everyone parks nicely on my road.
