To lock our bollard into place?

Someone has parked on our drive for the third time this week - I have no idea who they are as both times they've been there when I come back from the morning school run and gone when I come back from the evening one.

The last owners of our house installed a small bollard that can be pulled up from the ground and padlocked in place. It makes it impossible to get into our out of the drive. I've already left 2 polite notes asking them not to park on our drive. AIBU if I lock the bollard and go out for a few hours?

The estate agent letting out the flat above me keeps parking in my driveway, often blocking me in Hmm (the fact that I can't use my car at the moment is irrelevant Grin) we also have a group of teenagers that drink and smoke weed on my drive... Why on earth do they think that's acceptable?! Argh.
Excited for an update!

scarletforya · 13/09/2012 17:41

I must be a brassy bitch too because they wouldn't have got two notes from me either and I would have locked them in straight away, never mind giving them warnings etc! You're much too nice OP !

I'm fascinated to see what kind of person turns up at 6 o'clock! They must have a neck like a jockeys bollox!

OP please reply at precisely one minute past 6 and no later, the suspense is killing me!

shrimponastick · 13/09/2012 17:42

Ooh exciting.

We have parking fun at times. If any visitors to our house deign to park in front of neighbours window she tells them to move it.

It's a regular road, no road markings, just unfortunate that her window is one foot from the kerb.

Groovee · 13/09/2012 17:43

We had this. Me and and neighbour arrived home together and found someone parked oddly over our 2 parking spaces. I'd not long had dd. So he took my car keys and delivered them back to me once he'd spoken to the other neighbours and they helped him block the driver in. Driver came back and dh arrived home and was looking at what he could see and was scratching his head when the bloke agressively asked dh to shift the crap. Dh knocked on our neighbour's door who'd done it all and they told the bloke they would remove the cars but never to park there again. And he didn't.

Hope the OP doesn't meet an aggressive driver lol

I'm so nervous for the OP, you've done the right thing but I'd never have the balls.

littlebluechair · 13/09/2012 17:46

Right, I've got my coffee, told the kids to go play on the Wii upstairs, out of the way nicely together, and am waiting patiently.

FryOneFatManic · 13/09/2012 17:50

I've never marked my place on a thread before, but this time I really have to. I really want an update.

Hats off to the op! Hope it all goes well.

I once got blocked in in similar circumstances. Our school is on a dead end, it trails off into a dirt track which is gated at the end, never used. Hower the owner is very precious about anyone parking there. Most people park there regardeless, just 2 or three cars at the school end of it.

Came back one day, he'd gotten a ruddy great 4x4 and barricaded us all in. :( didn't park the again though!
