...to change the bedding once a week?

Do you think that's adequate? New partner says his ExDW changed it every 2-3 days. Now as far as I know they weren't bonking like mad (or so he told me!) so I don't see the need for that frequency! He's started staying over at mines on weekends, usually a Saturday but this week he stayed on Friday so the same sheets were on since the previous Sat iyswim. Also, we hadn't had sex in the bed the last time he was here (tmi?). I would normally change them on a Saturday morning as I work full time mon-fri. I'm actually feeling a bit Hmm about him comparing my cleanliness to ExDW as she didn't work. Anyway, I'm ranting. How often do you change your sheets?

LaQueen your name looks wrong spelt with a La.

I like it with a Le Smile

Oh once a week here too, sometimes more for the pillow cases.

limitedperiodonly · 11/09/2012 12:36

Ok getorf.

I'll have a go at some point. But not this month week because my mum changed it for me on Saturday.

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 11/09/2012 12:37

Getorf on a sheets thread - check
Lequeen and the stale biscuits - check

Grin I haven't seen your round these here parts for ages.

tinkcantwaittomove · 11/09/2012 12:37

we change bedding one every 2 weeks

MarysBeard · 11/09/2012 12:37

Visitors always have clean bedding of course, but I change ours when it starts to...well, need changing. Usually about once a month. The kids beds similarly, unless they get dirty before then. I just wash stuff when it's dirty and not otherwise. I'd never heard of anyone doing anything else, until I went on MN!

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 11/09/2012 12:38

It's easier to change the sheets than fix the rumpled sheets of a morning, anyway.

limitedperiodonly · 11/09/2012 12:39

I change my pillow cases every week and sometimes even put clean linen teacloths on them.

But that's because they're easier than duvets to manhandle and I sometimes drunkenly fall asleep in my make up and dribble.

Ephiny · 11/09/2012 12:39

Duvet cover inside out then flick? Shock

That had never occurred to me. I make a right meal out of trying to change a duvet cover Blush.

I suspect this is one of the things that's easier to do if you're tall though...

Cokeaholic · 11/09/2012 12:43

Haven't read whole thread but have you asked him how often he changes his own sheets ?

Mellower · 11/09/2012 12:43

Once a week here, twice if they get dirty, i.e. son climbs on them with chocolate coated fingers!

Tell him to change them.

Weekly.

But if I was incredibly rich, and didn't care about the environment, I would have a member of staff to change all the beds every day. And the towels. Actually, I might have new towels every day.

Dildobaggins · 11/09/2012 12:49

At least 3 times a year.

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 11/09/2012 12:51

Yes, inside out flick. I am very tall, however.

Urgh to new towels every day. New towels are too soft. I like mine dried to a crisp on the line

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 11/09/2012 12:51

Ah, well possibly then the reason why I find it so easy has to do with my orangutan arms. Grin

valiumredhead · 11/09/2012 12:52

Sometimes weekly and sometimes daily, just depends on what else is going on and if I have time.

TraineeBabyCatcher · 11/09/2012 12:57

GetOrf what size quilt do you have? When I had a double I could have maybe agreed with you. But now we have a super king and its a bitch.

As for ironing, I love it looking fresh like in a hotel and I'm lucky that our bedding doesnt crease through use, only through washing, so at the end of the week it still looks as good as when I put it on.
It is a pain to iron due to the size and thickness but its worth it (although if you ask me again in 3 weeks once I'm full time at uni I might not agree)

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 11/09/2012 13:01

It's a king size (which isn't too bad).

PiousPrat · 11/09/2012 13:03

I do the inside out method of duvet cover changing. I am not especially tall. I stand on the bed to get the cover most of the way down, then lay it on the bed to yank down the bottom corners.

Sheets get done every 1/2 weeks here, unforeseen incidents notwithstanding. DP and his midnight munchies of a pack of buttons with one rogue, slept on one, I am looking at you here >_>

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 11/09/2012 13:04

DD stands on the bed to change her sheets.

NervousAt20 · 11/09/2012 13:08

Between once a week and two weeks

imnotmymum · 11/09/2012 13:13

just have to scrunch the corners do not need long arms. Just hold and yank.

TraineeBabyCatcher · 11/09/2012 13:16

I never found the inside out method works for me. I grab corners of the duvet, then keeping hold of them put my arms into the cover find the top corners, take a hand out regrab corner from outside, then same on the other, then shake like your life depends on it. Button up and the shake from the bottom end to ensure its smooth.
