To think Peaches Geldof should have strapped her baby in?

and also, put the phone down when her baby fell out of his pram!

Have just seen photos of her poor baby tumbling out of his pram onto a pavement. I know the council should have sorted the pavement out, but he wouldnt have fallen out if he was strapped in :(

sorry for The Sun link

mmm and the photographer stood there taking loads of pics instead of putting down the camera and rushing to help Hmm

PiedWagtail · 10/09/2012 10:34

No, YANBU. Of course she should have strapped him in. She has no brains. None at all. Too busy worrying about how she looks and who she's talking to on the phone. Plus, his pram wasn't a flat carrycot, it was a car seat type one so he should def have been strapped in as babies can slide down in those. Plus she tweeted that she couldn't see over the top of the pram to see what was coming - how stupid is that, buying a pram you can't see over? Anyway, she could have seen the missing slab if she had looked ahead. Airhead. HAte people who make excuses for everything too and don't accept responsibility themselves!

Begonia - your children seem to have fallen off an awful lot of things. The kitchen counter??? Are you proud of this?? Perhaps you should have strapped them in. Confused

FreudiansGoldSlipper · 10/09/2012 10:35

of course she does not care for her phone more what a stupid thing to say

i have made mistakes sadly i am not perfect though i try and learn from those who are on here Hmm

my pram once tipped over forwards ds was not srapped in as there was no strap how it happened i am not sure but ds was fine and slept through it. it is a very sturdy pram so still surprised it happened

i never strapped ds in his bouncy chair or high chair he hated it yes he did fall partly fall through it once he could nto fall through it completely he was fine

Kayano · 10/09/2012 10:35

Aye, just like she put down her phone

Let's not pretend she wasn't the one in the wrong

She blamed London roads
Instead of taking any responsibility herself which seems to e the story of her life tbf

worldcitizen · 10/09/2012 10:36

5madthings yes you are right, these things DO happen.

I was saying this about the one hand pushing, because I find the kind of pram she has with the very small tires etc. are not the best for strolling around in a city, where there are potholes, up and down the curb etc.

And again this could happen to anyone or something similar and the fright and the guilt is enough to have a mother beat herself up, but then she goes ahead and twitters some non-sense...

5madthings · 10/09/2012 10:36

i have had a baby strapped into baby seat and put it in the car, got distracted and then we have driven off forgetting to strap the carseat in, baby strapped in in the seat but not much good if its not buckled into the car!

i have also left said baby in carseat in the front porch having got the others into the car and been driving off and then thought ooops!

and yes i have lost a child for a good 40 mins in a forest! i thought he was with dp, dp thought he was me, these things DO happen and i would say my dp is a slightly over anxious parent at time, balanced out by myself as i am more relaxed, hence not taking ds3 to the hospital for 3 days hwen he hurt his foot, turned out he had broken it... Blush

oh and when ds2 was little he was a sicky baby, i pushed ds1 out of the way so he didnt get puked on, only a little push but ds2 was projectile vomiting, anyway he fell and landed on the stairs and got a MASSIVE black eye, god i felt crap!

Kayano · 10/09/2012 10:36

You never strapped
Your son in the bouncy chair?!

Shock

Bloody hell Hmm

Aboutlastnight · 10/09/2012 10:36

well I'm sure she won't make the same mistake again. And least she's served a purpose in confirming to you all what great parents you all are Grin

LadyBeagleEyes · 10/09/2012 10:37

I'm not a particular fan of Peaches, she's a z list sleb, who's only famous on the back of her parents, but the cats bum faces on this thread about a young mum who made a mistake is just a bit Confused.
Bad enough that she's followed by the paps, bad enough that they actually published the picture, but to be judged on a parenting webside is really unpleasant.

worldcitizen · 10/09/2012 10:37

kayano x-post

5madthings · 10/09/2012 10:40

thing is we call all say we would have put the phone down, but the brain doesnt always work like that and we do odd things in panicked situations.

i mean if your pram is tipping would you let go of it to grab the baby, but then it would tip more or do you try and right it and hope the baby doesnt fall out as you tip it? being strapped in would be good but when i used the carrycot on my bugaboo it didnt even have straps and i am pretty sure i used the carseat on the pushchair and didnt always do up the straps or did them up loosely when baby was little. my dd is 21mths and i use the nipper and i only put the waist and crotch strap on her, she doesnt like the over the should straps and she seems secure enough like that.

and even when i strap dd into her highchair she cans till dam well get out and is forever standing up in her highchair, thankfully she doesnt try to climb out, she just stands there saying 'help help' very sweet but i cant turn my back for a second which is a pita with 4 other children to deal with!

RobinSparkles · 10/09/2012 10:40

Ok, so she should have strapped him in but in the end the baby was fine. I'm sure she'll make every effort to make sure that he's strapped in in the future.

She's probably sleep deprived and made a mistake. We've all been there!

BupcakesandCunting · 10/09/2012 10:40

Awww leave her alone. It probably all happened so quickly that she didn't think to fling the 'phone to the floor. It also looks like he had a soft landing on his blankets/hoodof his pushchair and she said he wasn't crying. Hardly crime of the year.

What about all of the deliberate mistreating of children that doesn't get photographed by the press, hmmm?

JustFabulous I hope your son gets well soon xx

Kayano · 10/09/2012 10:42

she's probably sleep deprived

Really?

Hmm
5madthings · 10/09/2012 10:42

a bouncy chair on a floor, wihtout baby being strapped in, they arent going to fall far? tho mine all had a waist/crotch strap.

but then i used the bumbo on the kitchen worktop when ds4 and dd were little, they woudl sit up there in it whilst i prepared dinner, they were RIGHT by me, but its not the recomended thing.

we all do things that are less than perfect and most of the time it works out ok.

and seriously i think the photographer is a shit for just taking photos of it.

FreudiansGoldSlipper · 10/09/2012 10:42

no i didn't he didn't like it and never fell out was not that bouncy or like i said his high chair

though he did fall out of his bumper chair (can not remember what they are called had a bit between his legs) that was then given away

SomersetONeil · 10/09/2012 10:42

"& then she lets go & baby falls further!"

Yes, I'm sure that was all completely planned and meticulously done on purpose... Hmm

This thread is getting absurd now.

YouForgotToCallMePeppa · 10/09/2012 10:42

Should have been strapped in. Maybe she forgot that once, or maybe she didn't think she needed to strap him in because he couldn't get out by himself, and now knows better.

The phone thing - maybe she said what had happened to the person on the other end and they were reassuring her/ talking her through what to do etc?

SayersIsBetterThanGreggs · 10/09/2012 10:43

I never strapped dd into a pram as a new born, I did start to when 3 kids were hit by a car near to us, one girl died, the boy was further up and left with permanent brain damage, the youngest was ok as she was strapped into her pram which took the impact.

Sometimes people don't think of possible risks until they're made to.

WorraLiberty · 10/09/2012 10:43

Mistakes happen

Perhaps she simply forgot to strap him in or she didn't think it was necessary and has now learnt a lesson (as we all have in some way or another as new parents.)

However, I can't believe she didn't put the phone down at any point.

That's all really.

FreudiansGoldSlipper · 10/09/2012 10:44

thats it a bumbo chair, ds pulled himself out of it on day 2

Prarieflower · 10/09/2012 10:44

And lets face it if this had happened to a teenager on benefits there would be uproar but because Peaches is some self styled D list celebrity mothering icon(who Tweets pics endlessly)it's ok.Hmm

Accidents do happen but as a mother it's your job to limit them.Talking on a phone whilst not concentrating on pushing your baby down "potholed" London streets in a fashion buggy when you haven't even strapped said baby in isn't limiting mishaps it's being lazy.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 10/09/2012 10:44

I saw some photos yesterday of her baby.
In one of them, (I presume she took the picture) the baby was lying on the bed with the dad on the other side.
Fair enough, but the baby was right at the edge, If the dad moved quickly, if the baby moved or when to turn or roll, he would've been in danger of falling off Sad

Sadly, I've seen lots of incidents of prams tipping while the mum is glued to her phone.

SoupDragon · 10/09/2012 10:44

So, all you perfect parents have never ever made a mistake? None whatsoever?

Gosh, aren't you all wonderful. Hmm

Prarieflower · 10/09/2012 10:46

I don't think said pap is a shit as I've said she Tweets pics daily,is pushing her wedding, honeymoon etc.For all we know said photos were set up and then she stuffed up.Are paps only supposed to take pics of the good stuff?
