and also, put the phone down when her baby fell out of his pram!

Have just seen photos of her poor baby tumbling out of his pram onto a pavement. I know the council should have sorted the pavement out, but he wouldnt have fallen out if he was strapped in :(

sorry for The Sun link

wildworld they do have straps in lie-down prams! Mine did. I hardly used them though.

knockknock yes...probably they should but you don't know it ALL when you're new at the parenting lark.

SomersetONeil · 10/09/2012 10:15

I never, ever strapped mine in when they were lying flat.

ErikNorseman · 10/09/2012 10:15

It was a silly mistake, we have all made them. But of course he should have been strapped in, for this very reason! I can't believe anyone thinks a 2 month old baby can be pushed around in a pushchair without being strapped in!
She's also a dick for claiming he was strapped in when he obviously wasn't. I'm guessing she tweeted before she saw the pap shots.

NCForNow · 10/09/2012 10:16

Begonia people love it when they can judge others...especially if those "others" appear to "have it all" and then make a mistake.

LST · 10/09/2012 10:16

I wouldn't buy a pram that you couldn't use straps. I'm not judgmental at all that my opinion. And it's a conclusion I've drawn from my own experience.

MrsLettuce · 10/09/2012 10:16

Poor woman. We all do stupid things sometimes. Babies are bouncy.

KnockKnockPenny · 10/09/2012 10:17

He wasnt lying flat, he was in a car seat attached to the pram frame.

RobinSparkles · 10/09/2012 10:17

Maybe he was strapped in but the straps were too loose? I've known that happen, where straps have been too loose and babies have come out of them (not me personally).

I sometimes used to leave the straps off newborn DD2 in the pram (lie flat carry cot style). The lady who sold me the pram said that I didn't need to when she was flat and sleeping. If she was sleeping before the school run I would just pick her up and place her inside. If I faffed around with straps she'd wake up and cry!

HumphreyCobbler · 10/09/2012 10:17

good god, I am so bloody glad there were no photographers around when I made mistakes with my baby.

There are some horrible judgy comments on this thread.

MelodyPondering · 10/09/2012 10:17

It wouldn't occur to me to use the straps. They are lying down. I bet there are more people that don't use them than do...

Kayano · 10/09/2012 10:18

Shit parenting right there

blunt

Put the fucking phone down!!! Jesus! Hmm

NCForNow · 10/09/2012 10:18

I thought that too Robin the pics don't show ALL of the baby do they.

KnockKnockPenny · 10/09/2012 10:19

I wuld be judging her whether she was famous or not. I would have teh same reaction to a stranger in the street. I would of course help if I had seen it happen! Babies are precious, and neglecting to keep them safe does cause me to hoik up my judgey pants.

OP posts:
NameChangeGalore · 10/09/2012 10:19

Oh whatever! I'm not going to sit here and poke fun at her because we've all made mistakes like that. I didn't put the brakes in my DD's pushchair once and she nearly rolled into the main road. My back was turned trying to close a shop door and a bus driver beeped his horn at me to alert me. My DS fell off the bed twice in one week a few months ago. I don't always strap my baby in, if he's asleep.

YouOldSlag · 10/09/2012 10:19

*As for "why didn't Peaches stop her convo"

She did.

The pic with the phone in her hand and the baby on the floor would have taken less than a second to take. Those paparazzi have FAST cameras. I am sure in the second it took for her to see he'd fallen she then stopped talking.*

She didn't. On Mailonline (sorry) there are a series of photos of her picking him up afterwards etc, phone still glued to her ear.

Kayano · 10/09/2012 10:20

People don't use the straps?!?!

What the hell is wrong with people? It's only your child's safety at risk I suppose Hmm

ErikNorseman · 10/09/2012 10:20

The baby wasn't strapped in. He was laid over a blanket that was covering all the straps.

crashdollGOLD · 10/09/2012 10:20

I judge the photographer far more than her. Shit happens, it was an accident.

Prarieflower · 10/09/2012 10:20

Oh I've made mistakes, not many re health and safety(they happen but far more likely to when you're constantly on a phone).Tis not that hard to strap a baby in tbh,I had 3 under 18 months and always managed it.

Berating the MayorGrin re cracks in the pavement is extremely childish when if she'd been pushing with 2 hands it would never have happened. Thankfully we don't live in a homogenized world, there are cracks, bumps etc.

Frankly if you're going to make a living out of Tweeting your babies every move and your mothering skills then really one should strap ones baby in and take the consequences(without lying)if you don't.

Kayano · 10/09/2012 10:21

She stayed
On the phone and tucked
It under her ear while she tried to sort it. Messed up priorities. She would have had to
Sort the phone before she sorted her son!

ErikNorseman · 10/09/2012 10:22

And it's not clever to push a baby round without strapping them in. Prams can tip over, fall backwards, be knocked into the road. If no straps then baby can fly out into the road/bash head etc. straps keep the baby in the pram.

NCForNow · 10/09/2012 10:22

erik no....you can still strap them in even if you place a blanket on top. I know. I've done it in my Jane pram.

DaveMccave · 10/09/2012 10:23

I think reading these kind of articles, and caring enough to bitch about them is more pathetic. There are plenty of prams for this age range, that don't require straps, because they can't sit up yet. The photo is an action shot, not a video, and I would bet my life that she throws the phone straight down to grab her baby. I personally care not for celebrity gossip, but judge away, it will make you feel better about your own parenting mistakes.

KnockKnockPenny · 10/09/2012 10:23

Those who have said it was an ok mistake to make, have not answered if it would be an ok mistake had he been in a car, unstrapped?

I bet it wouldn't have gone over if it was an iCandy Wink stirs
