For his disablist comments? I would like to anyone who shares my anger to post. His a ridiculous person and a crap comedian. I'm sure I must have missed a thread about him already... But can't find one...

You're right, frankie has a had a wee whiskey.

I don't find him funny.

MadameCupcake · 09/09/2012 20:42

but you know Frankie Boyle is 'that' sort of comedian, same as if there was anything with Roy Chubby Brown on - I wouldn't watch as do not like his material and can't stand him. If FB said something I didn't like I would switch off - we're all adults and quite capable of dealing with it - I really can't see the issue!

MadameCupcake · 09/09/2012 20:44

BTW I am not saying I agree with some of the stuff he says in anyway but at the end of the day he is telling a joke and many people watching take it as that rather than personally offensive.

JeuxDEnfants · 09/09/2012 20:50

So if you had downs syndrome, in this already horrible disablist world, you would go to bed at night thinking... Oh well, he's just another comedian who finds my life funny... Really? Have you ever encountered anyone with a disability? Do you know how hard society makes their lived on top of what they already have to deal with. Just... I only have insults to throw at that comment...

JeuxDEnfants · 09/09/2012 20:54

Jokes can be entertaining but they can also be a weapon of division, ridicule and bullying. It's a shame some people can't see that.

I have a very close family member who is severly disabled and I would take HUGE offense in someone making jokes personally about him.

I totally agree that making personal jokes about Harvey is unacceptable but at the end of the day some people may find him funny and some don't.

All I know is I don't need to watch him or read about him so I do not need to let him affect my life!

JeuxDEnfants · 09/09/2012 21:01

To me it's not being clever... It's being a dick...transmitting jokes to people who might not understand them is fecking ridiculous and discrimatory itself. Who the hell is he to think he can say shit like that and get away with it when people are living with disability everyday and he is in his own world not having to. I think it might be very different if his family was afflicted. So stop defending him. Everytime you do, you turn a blind eye to all the abuse that happens to people less fortunate than you. Take responsibility for your actions, or are you happy to be part of the reason that a capable child with downs syndrome is fearful of society?

In a civilised society, I'm half he's banned from tv. Let people go to see him of they are so inclined but he shouldnt be allowed to air his crap on mainstream tv that I pay a license for.

OP posts:
JeuxDEnfants · 09/09/2012 21:04

Glad he's banned ...

I did like his tweet though that the paralympics were a ruse to get disabled people fit enough to tear Atos to the ground. Here is hoping they use those vehicles they had tonight for the job!

MentallyWell · 09/09/2012 21:09

You fucking thick fuckwits.
All jokes are at someone's expense.
To exclude disabled/mentally ill people from being joked about is to EXCLUDE THEM - this is Frankie Boyle's point.
I am disabled and I love that FB makes me normal and just like everybody else.
I am as entitled to be joked about as everyone else - I'm not a precious precious who can't defend myself or laugh at myself.
FB is a funny and intelligent clued up man.

seeker · 09/09/2012 21:13

Glad to see the stereotype of people with disabilities being saintly and with all sorts of special abilities has been well and truly shattered............

JeuxDEnfants · 09/09/2012 21:15

Well, you are one disabled person and that's your opinion. Don't speak for everyone who is.

IMO, being the ridicule of jokes doesn't make you accepted and normal. Being treated with respect probably would. It offends me that you think people with disabilities need to be accepted by society by having them belittled. Are you actually aware of his jokes?

OP posts:
MentallyWell · 09/09/2012 21:18

Grin seeker
Actually reading it back it was so much harsher than I intended but my blood did boil.
Apologies to anyone offended by fucking, thick or fuckwits.
And given the readership of this "ooh Frankie Boyle is naasssty" thread - that's probably everyone.

seeker · 09/09/2012 21:19

The other question is, does he get it?

AKissIsNotAContract · 09/09/2012 21:19

Well I've got cerebral palsy and I wouldn't appreciate it if Frankie Boyle joked about me. Do you think black people should accept racist jokes because it makes them included? What a ridiculous idea.

MentallyWell · 09/09/2012 21:20

Yes JeuxDEnfants - I am "actually aware of his jokes" - are you actually aware of his intentions?

JeuxDEnfants · 09/09/2012 21:20

MW, do you support his jokes about Harvey price?

Surprising, I don't give a flying fuck about his intentions. What I care about is how they are perceived.
