I've been on longer train journeys natch. No one plans for them.
Us flying STILL really seen as chic ? Do people believe those stupid articles about changing into cashmere track suits apply for an easy jet to Malaga ?

Plus don't get me started on capsule wardrobes.

Have you ever been on a flight where someone buys duty free Dior's poison or Guerlain's samsara and sprays half the bottle on them beore landing?

I do mind

laptopwieldingharpy I think we have all come across this.

I once heard somebody ask for Channel no 5 (I think they meant Chanel no 5) I nearly died laughing there and then and then to make it better (worse for them) when the Cabin Crew explained that they didn't sell it and explained why the passagner said "I thought it would be about £25 a bottle.

I looked at DP and we had to LOL. When the Cabin Crew member came to use I whispered perhaps Channel no 5 is £25 a bottle. She smiled and walked away with a little Wink

We use candles at home a lot. Our house is very open plan (the only internal doors are on the bedrooms) so scented candles help to get rid of the cooking smells (husband puts about a bulb of garlic in EVERYTHING). I've never felt the need for a travel candle though.

I don't know where people find the handluggage space for changes of clothes and products. My handluggage is usually full of electrical items I don't want chucked about the baggage handlers (camera, phone, blackberry, ipod, ebook), plus a couple of mags for the flight, my jewellery roll, purse, passport, pashmina and a bottle of water. That lot weighs me down enough! I do tend to take spare knickers and maybe a t-shirt if I am doing a supposed day trip for work though. I've been caught out a couple of times by being asked to stay on for an additional meeting - usually late at night when the shops are shut!

Exactly what sovery says - yummy if it weren't for your posts I swear my daily drudgery at the office would wear me down to nothing Grin

Yummymummyyobe1 · 14/08/2012 14:58

soverylucky I hadn't thought of it that way before. It is strange what people see as "normal" Okay I concede on this one. I'm going to be here for the long haul Wink

Yummymummyyobe1 · 14/08/2012 15:02

eurochick I would suggest this www.flightattendantshop.com/product/detail.cfm/nid/7/pid/439 ideal for all the electronics and pleanty of room for nik naks (and I don't mean the crisps)

JodieHarsh Smile life isn't all champers and designer shoes here there are dirty nappys and grumpy baby. Smile

soverylucky perhaps I should prepare some light refeshments and invite you all over.

JodieHarsh · 14/08/2012 15:12

Sovery I'm sure it can be arranged. We can commiserate over our rubbish lives and practice pronouncing Louboutin properly Grin

eurochick · 14/08/2012 15:12

Yummy I have something similar although I rarely use it (I prefer a backpack for hols and have a wheeled laptop carrier for work trips). The problem is that all bags get heavy and awkward if you start adding changes of clothes and all the other things on your list. I don't see the need for it either (barring a change of undies in case of an unexpected overnight on a work trip, as mentioned). If my luggage gets lost, I can buy stuff for a day or two. That's what travel insurance is for. I fly approx. 20 times per year for work and pleasure and prefer to travel as light as possible rather than banjax my back by wandering around the airport carrying/hoisting into the overhead a vast bag full of non-essentials.

BobbiFleckman · 14/08/2012 15:13

Travel candles are for people who can't bear the smell of Abroad, and are quite possibly staying all inclusive. They don't even have Method products in Guadalajara etc.

Yummy, if daddy and husband are so well connected, you really should get them to organise it so that you turn left and deal with Vogue and a satin eyemask, and nanny turns right with DS1, it's the only way to deal with travel.

Methe · 14/08/2012 15:17

What the fuck is a facial spritz for?

doublevodkaandcoke · 14/08/2012 15:18

My sister is a nanny and often goes on long haul flights first class. She used to have a Juicy Couture velour tracksuit that she wore only for these flights - we RIPPED the piss out of her for it! I dont think she wears it these days...

quirrelquarrel · 14/08/2012 15:18

Hmmm not sure I have enough clothes to separate into "flight suitable" and "non-flight suitable"....but going on planes is exciting, why not work up it into an occasion Grin

laptopwieldingharpy · 14/08/2012 15:19

facial spritz

PineappleBed · 14/08/2012 15:43

Hmmm so people "work" clothes rather than wear them

How will I fit in books, mags and coke if I have to have a pashmina, candle and spritz?

Zhaghzhagh · 14/08/2012 15:50

I want to know what a "capsule wardrobe" is. Please.

Yummymummyyobe1 · 14/08/2012 15:51

JodieHarsh Please let me plan it all.

BobbiFleckman LOL I guess they are indeed to block out the smells. I have always said that when I had a family then I wanted to be there for them. We are looking at getting a nanny when I return to work (not live in) next year.

Methe it's for refreshing your skin as flying dehydrates you.

doublevodkaandcoke (in best mummy voice) that is very mean to tease your sister. LOL

quirrelquarrel flying is all part of the fun.

PineappleBed you need a bigger bag. Wink

Yummymummyyobe1 · 14/08/2012 15:52

Zhaghzhagh it is a basis for a wardrobe thatcan be mixed and matched easily usually t-shirts, jeans, dresses and cardigans a well made suit.

Zhaghzhagh · 14/08/2012 15:54

Yummy - is there anything else??

Zhaghzhagh · 14/08/2012 15:54

(emphasis on IS)

laptopwieldingharpy · 14/08/2012 15:56

capsule wardrobe
notice the website name: "style our souls"

BobbiFleckman · 14/08/2012 15:57

it's like shooting fish in a barrel

Yummymummyyobe1 · 14/08/2012 16:20

Zhaghzhaygh a capsule wardrobe should reflect what you do in your life so what one person has might not fit another persons life.
