I've been on longer train journeys natch. No one plans for them.
Us flying STILL really seen as chic ? Do people believe those stupid articles about changing into cashmere track suits apply for an easy jet to Malaga ?

Plus don't get me started on capsule wardrobes.

Something a bit fishy around 'ere....

Yummymummyyobe1 · 13/08/2012 18:08

IneedAbetterNicknameIn2012 the rules are more relaxed and the actual cases are very light so more weight left for the essentials.

pengymum · 13/08/2012 18:09

But why in the cramped aeroplane toilet maybenow? Why not wait until you get off and use the far roomier toilets at the airport? Some even have showers!
Not that I have used them, tbh hotels/home is only short drive/bus away so never seen the need myself.

NarkedRaspberry · 13/08/2012 18:09

If you have to pay for a seat for DC they have a right to full sized hand luggage Grin

NameChangeGalore · 13/08/2012 18:09

Oh shut up you party pooper. Let people have fun.

JodieHarsh · 13/08/2012 18:12

yummy do they also relax all the security rules to permit you to carry on all those liquids Confused

OwlLady · 13/08/2012 18:13

and to think i believed all the juicy couture spam and went and bought myself a velour suit so i could fit in at benidorm

theowlworrier · 13/08/2012 18:20

I actually agree with yummy mummy. A change of top, underwear and basic make up an toiletries in case main luggage goes aWol. Then you can at least spruce up at destination...

eurochick · 13/08/2012 18:25

I've only ever changed to get on a plane to make myself scruffier (also more comfortable). If I'm travelling for work an in a suit, I will quite often leave jeans and a top at the top of the case and if I have time at the airport, I will dive into the loos and de-suit before dropping my bag.

C0smos · 13/08/2012 18:27

I always smile fondly at little old men who wear a suit to fly in

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 13/08/2012 18:33

I tend to dress for the assumption that I might need to get of the plane pdq, i.e. Down the slide, so nice flat shoes so I can get the hell out of there... Can you tell I don't like flying?

MadeleineAlright · 13/08/2012 18:35

Id bloody love to do a practice on those chutes.

Someone on her once commented that there's always a tiny Indian woman on those mobility golf trolleys.
All alone.

One of the many entertaining things about MN is the way one is constantly finding that something exists (in this case a travel outfit) and simultaneously learning that some people are made angry by it.

OwlLady · 13/08/2012 18:38

would that be in India or anywhere?

MadeleineAlright · 13/08/2012 18:40

London. Told h who is regular traveller. And he laughrd a lot and agreed. Think
It was @motherinferior.

Erm who does this and what on earth is a capsule wardrobe...

I dress according to destination and what class Im travelling - BA first, something slightly smarter for the lounge, Sleazyjet then whatever is warm/cold enough for where I will end up.

OwlLady · 13/08/2012 18:51

you dress for your class, how pretentious

defineme · 13/08/2012 19:04

I'd like to think I don't plan a flight outfit, but remembering stepping off a plane at Heathrow when I was 18 in subzero conditions wearing cutoffs and vest (had been backpacking somewhere hot) and having to change in filthy coach station loos...I think I probably do a little bit now.

Travel candle -YANBU

Natch makes me think fondly of childhood books about posh girls at boarding school 'Autumn Term' and so on-I'm very pleased if it's having a revival amongst the youth of today.

TakingBackMonday · 13/08/2012 19:04

no no no not "your class" I mean as in how you are flying - first, club or economy... isnt that just standard? Both of my parents worked for BA, I suppose was something I was taught - if travelling economy doesnt matter but if in first you wear something slightly smarter? I do not see how that is pretentious in the slightest.

OwlLady · 13/08/2012 19:07

i was joking Blush

it is one of cods threads

I think tonight on MN I have left my SOH by the fire exit obviously. ALL those years WASTED

Pascha · 13/08/2012 19:08

Isn't it that if you dress a bit smarter you stand a better chance of being bumped up to business or first? Although I don't think Chicken airways do upgrades...

Thegoddessblossom · 13/08/2012 19:11

I'm with spotty on page 1. ( having just planned my outfit for a flight to Crete)

TakingBackMonday · 13/08/2012 19:40

oh gosh sorry.

Until I was 23 I had an automatic upgrade on any BA flight.

Happy days, long over :(
