Me and DH went out to a pub yesterday afternoon and in the pub there were at least 8 men sat at tables on their own drinking. I've noticed this before and you never see women doing this and I think its quite sad to just be sat there drinking on your own. DH disagrees though and says that maybe they just enjoy a quiet Pint or two. AIBU?

The OP will be long gone but I frequently eat out alone and spend time alone having a drink and reading a book in bars and pubs, both in this country and abroad.

In any case there is a big difference between being alone and being lonely.

There is a tragic abundance of functional alcoholics out there who like nothing more than to sit in the pub, have a few pints, drive themselves home, drink some more.

Provide live near a pub and walk there have one drink and walk... Home. Men have been able to go and socialise in pubs for centuries its about time women can too. It's a lonely place to be stuck in when you can't afford a full on meal but just want company and life around you rather than four walls.

Am specifically thinking about dm after her divorce.

How judgemental.
I Happily have a drink and read my book whilst DD is doing an activity. 90 mins of peace in a busy week
