I agree about the NHS privatisation issue. BUT - there are just too many people on benefits, too much going into NHS and there isn't enough coming in. The idea that the "rich carry the poor" is already in place. Someone on minimum wage versus someone earning 50K a year - who contributes more to taxes?
Like for like, people in higher earning brackets pay more taxes and they are already carrying the poor because those taxes go towards benefits and NHS.
While there are a large number of people who abuse that system (look at the new company structure to stop paying sick leave in the first 2 years - that's not "greedy commercialism" - it's because the majority of workers claim "stress" and get booked off for 2 months!), they will always need to find ways to pull back on spending.
I do not for one single minute begrudge what high-earners are paid and for that reason ALONE, I vote Tory. Because we all have the same opportunities to push on through life and better ourselves.
The UK economy has been structured so that no one "can't afford" to go to school or university or to travel or live or have a home or children and yet its' citizens can't see the benefits that they receive from all that they get. I could be wrong, but VERY few countries in the world offer "free" and "benefits" as much as the UK and somewhere, that is going to have to stop.
Because you can't unfortunately believe that anyone who earns more than you should have a financial obligation to carry you. Where is the dignity in that? I started on minimum wage when I left university and I ploughed my way through life and fought to hit a salary now where I potentially earn slightly above the London average. What makes me different? Drive? Determination? Pride?
