To find the presence of Wills & Kate at EVERY Olympic game annoying?

I'm all for keeping the Royal family as they uphold tradition and rake in the money for us when the tourists come to ohh and ahh over them, but...

Should William, a modern royal who allegedly has a "job" be at every Olympic game going?

Seriously, How many "full time" search and rescue pilots get the privilege of the same amount of time off, let alone a ticket to any Olympic game of choice...

I like seeing Wills and Kate at the games. I'd expect good tickets to the Olympics too if I was Princess.

HeathRobinson · 03/08/2012 01:17

I bet somebody'd moan if they weren't there too.

CelstialNavigation · 03/08/2012 01:21

Every game? Must be using body doubles. Its difficult enough to keep up with channel surfing on the couch.

SkipTheLightFanjango · 03/08/2012 01:22

Channel surfing the new oympic sport Grin

MrsRhettButler · 03/08/2012 01:23

At least they're using the seats they've been allocated!

GlassofRose · 03/08/2012 01:25

Alright nit pickers, not every game. Just the high profile ones then...

Can I ask why you like to see them there?

I don't get it personally. The royal family have a long history of gaining medals in the army they didn't achieve even when one of them beached a ship during the war Wills and Harry are painting this modern working royal picture yet not actually doing their jobs. Two people could have filled their positions and actually worked for the salary those two are receiving.

They are there as ambassadors, putting a British stamp on it all, lending a bit of glamour etc. It's all PR.

I'm far more pissed off at seeing Shiny Dave at every event. Get on with doing your bloody job in our darkest hour, you twassock!

Southwest · 03/08/2012 01:32

Annoys me too

She's not a Princess never will be

Someone will come along no doubt and say it's good for ticket sales or tourism or similar Hmm

Actually it's really annoying laugh out loud 'bet they are here again, oh look didn't take long' annoying

Blatantly advertising that they are freeloaders annoying

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 03/08/2012 01:36

Because they look nice.

There are lots and lots of people at the Olympics, why shouldn't they be there?

MaisyMooCow · 03/08/2012 01:38

Now I have to admit to have been a fan of the Royals in the past but I have noticed it too OP and I'm pretty narked.

alphabite · 03/08/2012 01:41

The games have only been on for 5 days. I'm pretty sure most search and rescue workers would be allowed more annual leave than that. YABU.

alphabite · 03/08/2012 01:42

6 days.

GlassofRose · 03/08/2012 01:47

Alphabite, the games may have been on for 6 days, but how much time off has he taken off this year for the jubilee etc?

I'd rather these people quit taking jobs like they have and just be ambassadors. Search and rescue is pretty much a red letter day to these people. The BA pays William a salary... you can bet your life they are also paying someone else to cover the fact he is never there to do his job.

Maybe wills was on duty giving the visiting VIPs a security frisk as they entered the stadium? Grin

Bedtime1 · 03/08/2012 01:54

I think it's only the papers that annoy you not actually Kate and Wills. It's the papers that report all this. I'm sure sometimes they just want to be left alone. How annoying would that be having a camera stook in your face every two minutes, you can't even blow your nose! I'm sure they find that soo fun and relaxing.

alphabite · 03/08/2012 01:58

Most of the jubilee was over a weekend. He was probably off duty. You are being rediculous.

OhNoMyFanjo · 03/08/2012 02:01

Totally agree with LeBOF, I'm more concerned about Dave.

Re tge royals it's is the queens army still? I guess whoever she want out of it would get the time off

Southwest · 03/08/2012 02:05

No it's not tha papers they have popped up everywhere on the TV

If they want to be left alone then stay at home

Lol at Nagooing good one ;)

Bedtime1 · 03/08/2012 02:08

Why should they stay at home though! Aren't they aloud to watch their country compete in something that they are a big part of?

my2centsis · 03/08/2012 02:09

None of your business.

Why two people watching a game would actually matter to you I have no idea.

The words judgemental and rude spring to mind.

Oh and YABU get a grip

CeilidhQueen · 03/08/2012 02:09

Can we call them 'Kwills'?

Bedtime1 · 03/08/2012 02:11

How do you know he still gets paid? In normal jobs you have your holidays then anymore time off usually you dont get paid unless it is for sickness reasons and that is generally short lived.

CelstialNavigation · 03/08/2012 02:15

I think its "Wate" Ceilidh.

CeilidhQueen · 03/08/2012 02:24

I like Kwills better

Grin
Southwest · 03/08/2012 02:24

The stay at home bit was in reference to want to be left alone, if you want to be left alone you don't go on the telly do you?!?

They can watch what they want but then if they are comping he who pays the piper calls the tune

To be fair the comments were not in relation to them going out they wewre in relation to them seemingly being at nearly every Olympic event we've seen in the last few days

Hardly judgemental and rude th OP and everyone else are nearly expressing opinions and then discussing them flinging about insults doesn't add much does it!
