To find the presence of Wills & Kate at EVERY Olympic game annoying?

I'm all for keeping the Royal family as they uphold tradition and rake in the money for us when the tourists come to ohh and ahh over them, but...

Should William, a modern royal who allegedly has a "job" be at every Olympic game going?

Seriously, How many "full time" search and rescue pilots get the privilege of the same amount of time off, let alone a ticket to any Olympic game of choice...

Wow there really is no pleasing some people is there? Yeah, they're definitely being TOO supportive of team GB, the bastards!

Isn't this the same Wills who had to defer his honeymoon so his leave fitted in with his search & rescue rota?

moaning bastards Smile

Bedtime1 · 03/08/2012 02:28

Tv and the papers are the media aren't they. So it's not anything to do with them, they are there just watching the sports, you can hardly blame them.
So what if they are at every event?

Southwest · 03/08/2012 02:29

Actually I'm sure the athletes will win or loose regardless of their presence

futureunknown · 03/08/2012 02:47

I am glad they are there supporting Team GB. I am sure the team would prefer seeing Will and Kate there than Charles and Camilla. Will manages to juggle duty and job and I'm sure his boss has sanctioned his leave. The army have managed without Heather Stanning for 18 months while she trains full time.

Bedtime1 · 03/08/2012 02:49

What's that got to do with anything southwest?

meditrina · 03/08/2012 02:54

Have they been at EVERY game going? I've only clocked coverage of them at 3 (plus a fourth for the Princes without the Duchess).

There are agreements in place about how the Princes book time off from their days jobs with the forces to attend official events. They are official Ambassadors for the London Games, so their schedule for events in the run up and during the Games themselves will have been sorted out months ago.

Northey · 03/08/2012 03:17

And what's all this about "if they want to be left alone"? I've never seen a report that they've said that.

McPhee · 03/08/2012 03:24

Don't be such a misery guts

If you don't like it, then don't watch

Jealousy isn't an attractive trait I'm told Wink

SleepyFergus · 03/08/2012 03:38

Oh FFS, what a petty post. Can't believe you're moaning about them being at too many games! Just perhaps, maybe Wills took annual leave so he's on holiday, hence why he's able to attend lots of events? And jeez, we're talking about an event that is every 4 years, AND in our home country.

They really can't win can they? Dammed if they go, dammed if they don't. I think there are bigger concerns in the country at present other than this.

I think Wills and Kate are very conscious of how the Royals are perceived and would not be openly taking the piss or abuse their day jobs.

Giraffeears · 03/08/2012 03:49

I have to say they got flipping lucky with the draw for tickets!!

lovebunny · 03/08/2012 04:52

i'm glad they are there, showing support! its a job i wouldn't want but i'm glad they are willing to do it with good grace.

minibmw2010 · 03/08/2012 07:28

They were at the three day eventing cheering on Team GB and specifically Zara Phillips like other family were (even in the rain and ponchos). They've been at a few other things too which I think is great. If they weren't there'd be lots of 'where's the Royal Family, what do they do all day ???'. They are bring brilliant ambassadors for Great Britain, that's their job ...

As for Wills' job, he is most likely on unpaid leave for the Olympics. And I expect they love him regardless of how much TJ e he spends there at times as the Government had proposed cuts which Wills fought against and had stopped.

Give them a break !! Smile

ElephantsCanRemember · 03/08/2012 07:31

No, I'm not annoyed by them being there. I think, for some people, they can't do right for doing wrong. Whatever they do they will always be criticised.

Let them be Smile

GWenlockMaryLacey · 03/08/2012 07:33

Oh God, who cares. Do you think you might have got their tickets in the royal box if they didn't come? This is so far down the list of things I give a tiny toss about. Yeah yeah, I know I clicked the thread etc.

limitedperiodonly · 03/08/2012 07:44

LeBof I didn't think I could hate Dave more until the Olympics started. Yesterday the shiny twat was being all statesmanlike about Russia and Syria like as if Putin gives a shit about him.

VolAuVent · 03/08/2012 07:49

YABU

2cats2many · 03/08/2012 07:52

YANBU. It annoys me too. So many people couldn't get tickets and they get to swan into the fucking royal box for everything just because of an accident of birth and marriage. Grrrrr!!!!

MarysBeard · 03/08/2012 07:52

YABU. I think it's great to see them and they look cute in their Team GB outfits.

PigeonPie · 03/08/2012 07:57

I haven't found it annoying, but I have wondered whether they must have Hermione Grainger's watch so they could get to more events!

FrankelSaysRelax · 03/08/2012 07:59

I will say this only once: Prince William is in the Royal Air Force, not the Army. There is a difference y'know!

[not aimed at any poster in particular]

Northernlurker · 03/08/2012 08:03

Apparently William is going back to work next week. Kate will still be attending some events - as she should as she doesn't work outside the Royal family. I have a university friend on facebook who has spent all week at the Olympics - and he definately has a proper job! It is possible.
The rest of the world is watching the Olympics and they expect to see our Royal family. Our atheletes should be able to count on 'establishment' support and I'd rather have Kate watching me than Dave tbh. At least she knows one end of a hockey stick from the other.

McKayz · 03/08/2012 08:07

So what if they are at every event going. I think it's great that they are supporting our sportsmen and women.

You can hardly moan about them watching Zara Phillips unless you moan about everyone's families being there.

mrsscoob · 03/08/2012 08:09

Yea agree with the others who say they have more of a problem with David Fuckwit Cameron being there Angry hypocritical bastard seeing as he wants to shut down leisure centers etc then sits there all smiley trying to bask in the glory of our athletes, tosser.

EdithWeston · 03/08/2012 08:11

It is work for them, though. An enviable job, but they are official 2012 Ambassadors.

Now - where are all those threads complaining about officially allocated seats not being used...

SamanthaStormer · 03/08/2012 08:13

There's been a furore over the amount of empty seats at each Olympic game, with VIP's just not bothering to turn up, leaving swathes of empty seats.
They'd get moaned at if they DIDN'T go, no doubt. "Why aren't the Royals bothering to show their faces?!"
Then when they do go it's "sick of seeing them everywhere, at all the Games!"
Can't win really, whatever they do is wrong by someone, somewhere!
