To think it's disgusting to wash up without rinsing?

Just that really!
I really can't understand how seemingly clean people lather their dirty dishes and just put them to dry without rinsing the foam off. All the germs and soap residue are left on the plates surely?

Yuk. Revolting!

Ok, how many of you rinses we're on the other thread saying you had tea stains in cups? Bleurgh. Whether you rinse or not, if you don't clean properly it's irrelevant whether you rinse or not. Also, my pet hate; putting dirty stuff on the draining side of the sink and then washing up without cleaning that side first. I know someone who has an immaculate (to look at) house but does that. I would never eat or drink anything from her pots.

frumpet · 01/08/2012 15:07

But how many people do you have eating in your house at any one time flogging ? are you running a soup kitchen ? Other peoples food remnants are hardly toxic , plus once they have been immersed in really hot water ( have asbestos hands) they would no longer be toxic anyway . Mind you when cooking i taste stuff using my special spoon and then put it back in ....................

lisaro · 01/08/2012 15:07

Rinsers were NOT rinses we're. Sorry.

JennerOSity · 01/08/2012 15:08

Two sinks is not necessary! Why on earth would it be.

Do all the people who don't rinse scrub their bodies in the bath too and consider it as clean as a shower? 'cos you have used soap, so all the soap scum, discarded skin and hairs are lovely to just wipe of with your towel

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 01/08/2012 15:08

I hate that too lisaro. Dh does it all the time. Drives me crazy. Even though most things go in the dishwasher.

Shelly32 · 01/08/2012 15:09

Food remnants probably aren't toxic but cleaning chemicals can be over a period of time.

diddl · 01/08/2012 15:10

Remnants of food-how does that get in the bowl, then?

usualsuspect · 01/08/2012 15:10

I don't rinse, I'm still alive.

ethelb · 01/08/2012 15:10

@outraged no what you are doing suggestes they aren't being rinsed after washing.

people are advocating washing, then rinsing the soap off THEN drying.

GeraldineAubergine · 01/08/2012 15:11

In answer to your question it depends what you are rinsing them with. Water is fine, urine not so much.

Shelly32 · 01/08/2012 15:12

For now.

usualsuspect · 01/08/2012 15:12

I don't dry either , I live them on the draining board until they theres no more room they are dry.

usualsuspect · 01/08/2012 15:12

leave*

Shelly32 · 01/08/2012 15:13

hahaha. Just throwing it out there; don't take it personally Grin

DaisySteiner · 01/08/2012 15:15

Can I ask the 'rinsers' - if you have a bath do you rinse yourself under the shower afterwards? Surely you need to rinse off the dirty, soapy water and germs?

usualsuspect · 01/08/2012 15:16

I've read about people on MN that do the weird shower after having a bath thing.

Floggingmolly · 01/08/2012 15:17

No, other people's leftovers are definitely non toxic. Still makes me heave, though. If a bowl covered in pasta sauce goes into the water, how can the next item in be "clean"? I do tend to have OCD like tendencies re. things like that though, it's why I finally bought a dishwasher. Smile

ethelb · 01/08/2012 15:17

someone suggested upthread that people who don't rinse are the kind ofpeole who have baths rather than showers and are therefore disgusting.

MrsKeithRichards · 01/08/2012 15:17

I shower after a bath!

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 01/08/2012 15:17

Ethel, I said rinse after scrub.

I agree things should be dried straight away, but as I only seem to wash up travel mugs and other odd random things that won't go in the dishwasher, I don't always dry Blush

Shelly32 · 01/08/2012 15:17

Daisy If I was going to eat off myself after, I would.

usualsuspect · 01/08/2012 15:18

So I'm doubly minging then for not rinsing my pots or myself after a bath.

NarkedRaspberry · 01/08/2012 15:18

In the dark pre dishwasher days I was a rinser. I rinsed the suff before washing and after. And I would only have a bath if I'd had a shower within 24 hours so I wasn't too manky, and yes, I rinse myself under the shower head afterwards.

FoofHundredMetreFreestyle · 01/08/2012 15:18

Surely food remnants shouldn't be bobbing around if you've rinsed before washing.
Food remnants into a plastic bag to be put in the outside bin.
Plates and pans rinsed under the tap.
Fill the sink with water and a moderate amount of Fairy.
Wash.
If your dishes are covered in suds you're using to much washing up liquid.
