To think it's disgusting to wash up without rinsing?

Just that really!
I really can't understand how seemingly clean people lather their dirty dishes and just put them to dry without rinsing the foam off. All the germs and soap residue are left on the plates surely?

Yuk. Revolting!

I have a bath about once a month in the spring/summer, once a fortnight in the autumn/winter. I shower daily and turn off the water when lathering/shampooing. I am very conscious of not wasting water.

Floggingmolly · 01/08/2012 15:48

I thought it was an either/or thing re. shower or bath? I stick to showers. I certainly don't do both. Shock

olimpia · 01/08/2012 15:48

Agree that showering after a bath is a bit bonkers unless you need to rinse your shampoo because you don't have a shower head attached to the bath

If you don't rinse, surely you eat the washing up liquid that's left dried on with your food. Spaghetti bolognese and fairy liquid. Yummy.

QueenofDiamonds - yes good point - I hate drying up at non-rinsers' houses, the tea towel is sodden with suds within seconds. When you rinse with hot water you can just leave them to drain and they are dry v quickly (thus saving on laundering tea towels)

usualsuspect · 01/08/2012 15:50

You can be there all day , bath then shower to wash the bubble bath off ,then bath to wash the shower gel off etc. Grin

ouryve · 01/08/2012 15:50

And yes, I rinse my hair and nether regions with the shower after a bath.

I have an shower attachment on the bath taps and sometimes leave the plug in as I shower, if the bathroom's chilly and, even turning the water off while I lather up, I often end up using enough water to have a bath by the time I'm done washing my hair and the rest of me.

NarkedRaspberry · 01/08/2012 15:50

How do you wash the shampoo off your hair in the bath if you don't use the shower head Confused. I just get up at that point and shower it off.

usualsuspect · 01/08/2012 15:52

What about the poor disgusting sods that don't have dish washers or showers Shock

olimpia · 01/08/2012 15:53

Erm I think people dunk their heads under the bath water to rinse the shampoo off while bathing

And apply the same principle to washing their dishes

CleoSmackYa · 01/08/2012 15:54

I rinse stuff off before I wash them, food doesn't get stuck to the plates after because I wash it all off. Wouldn't dream about plonking it onto the draining board with food still on it. Who does that? I don't dry up either. I just let it air-dry. I'm far too lazy. This is the first time I've ever heard of rinsing. You learn something new every day.

TwoStepsBack · 01/08/2012 15:55

Why would the dishes you have just washed still have bits of food on them ?Confused

I do rinse my glasses though - as that's the only way they sparkle.

By the way, you need to write to Fairy because I don't think the "hands that do dishes" actually rinses in the ads.

squeakytoy · 01/08/2012 15:55

never rinse, and never dry either... and still alive to tell the tale.. never known anyone to die from fairy liquid poisoning yet..

NarkedRaspberry · 01/08/2012 15:56

I thought you only used bath water to rinse clean hair for children? Because they don't get sweaty etc?

It will be on your headstone....

"She didn't rinse"

Latonia · 01/08/2012 17:06

OMG I knew it would happen one day, all you rinsers have turned into Anthea Turners!

TwoStepsBack I will insist on having that on my gravestone, which could be sooner than later because I don't rinse Smile

Meglet · 01/08/2012 17:10

yanbu .

If anyone does it at my house to help me out I sneak it into the dishwasher after they have left. ungrateful cow

MammaTJ · 01/08/2012 17:10

I am a total lazy slattern, but I rinse. I boil the kettle and pour it over the dishes on the drainer. They dry quickly then without the need for drying up too!!

stargirl1701 · 01/08/2012 17:11

I find a dishwasher helps. Grin

usualsuspect · 01/08/2012 17:13

TBH, my DP washes up more than I do, I have no idea of his washing up technique

WineGoggles · 01/08/2012 20:23

I rinse because I don't like the idea of leaving a chemical or food residue on the washing up to later ingest. Who knows what it does to us in the long term. I don't iron my pants though and I only clench when I'm trying to hold a fart in Grin
