To be annoyed by what people call their pets...?

So, mainly, I don't allow the common abbreviation of my dd's name because I know about 3 dogs with the same name.
To add to that they (the animals) have taken jack, molly, Tyler, Millie and many more.
AIBU to think that pets should have pets names like socks, tigger, fluffy?

My mate has a dog called Dave, which I think is brilliant.
And I know a cat called Nigel

Jade is a very dog name round here.

I spent the whole of my 1970s childhood encountering small yappy dogs who shared my name (almost no humans did at that stage). So that was way worse - at least if your child is called Jack, everyone knows that the dog has taken the human name. In my case, everyone just thought I'd been given the dog's name.

My cat is called Fluff. He isn't at all Fluffy. But at least he knows he's a cat.

My cats are not called standard cat names.

my cats are called jasper, jojo, biscuit and blue dogs were heidi, skips and rio so animally type names here

My old nextdoor neighbours had 2 cats called Dave and Lucy...then they got a boxer dog named Katie.

No they didn't have kids

My parents had a dog named Stanley, my Aunt has a dog named Dave. My Nan had dogs called Wincy (as in Willis, TVam weather presenter supremo) and Cindy. We once had a cat called Matthew.

I've got a dog called Jake and my parents have one called Izzy. The last dogs were Sandy and Jet so not just human names :)

YABU. My guinea pig is called Charles.

I'm not going to say my name on thread, but I imagine it would be somewhat like being called Sheba. Only Sheba is a Big Dog name, and mine is a Small Dog name. A small yappy dog, probably carried round in a handbag, wearing a pink diamante collar.

Haha annie her full name isn't an animals name, or at least I think not (probably an animal out there with it) but the abbreviation is!

My neighbour when I was a kid had a cat called Whiskey.
It was fabulous to see her stood on her step shouting "Whiskey! Whiskey! Whiskey!"
My dad used to tell anyone who visited that she must be an alcoholic
DH believed him for weeks, until the day he actually saw her with the cat.

My first dog as a grown up was called Giro. Best...Dog...EVER.

Now I have Atticus and Hero so although my DCs have names on the MN most hated list, my dogs have vair naice MNer names
