We're in the UK. It's not like wet weather is unique. It's not like we've never had wash out summers before. Have just been into town and although I started off in a good mood, I have heard nothing but moans about the rain. And the weather. And more rain. And now I'm depressed because everyone's so miserable.
Yes, it's a PITA. Yes it's hard to keep kids entertained in the rain.
But people have lost their homes and their incomes because of the floods.
To those of us who only have to contend with frizzy hair and damp garments PLEASE STOP MOANING.

YABU. We don't have to like it!

MissFaversam · 10/07/2012 15:50

I like the rain. Who wants the heat in London especially when I'm working Grin

Sirzy · 10/07/2012 15:51

I agree with you to a point but this summer has been rediculously bad and raincoats and wellies just get a bit frustrating in July!

RabbitsMakeBrownEggs · 10/07/2012 15:51

I was prepared for it this year, we actually quite like rain and puddles. I have a bag specifically for wet weather with all our wellies and brollies in.

Sassybeast · 10/07/2012 15:51

YouOldSlag - I don't really LIKE it but do you have to moan about it so much ? Sad

Well, it is shit isnt it!!

HeadfirstForRomance · 10/07/2012 15:53

YANBU. I know exactly what you mean, people seem to create misery out of it.

HeadfirstForRomance · 10/07/2012 15:54

Yeah it is a bit shit Betty but what can you do about it? (Apart from stock up on waterproofs)

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 10/07/2012 15:54

Head - we're brits, we'll moan about anything Grin

laptopcomputer · 10/07/2012 15:55

YANBU. I'm fed up with people who carry on as though they have been contaminated if a drop of rain touches them or their children. If we hadn't had all this rain and ended up using stand pipes instead, then they'd really have something to moan about Grin

Francagoestohollywood · 10/07/2012 15:56

Only a saint wouldn't moan about being rained down for a solid month, especially in the summer.

People's mood do get affected by the weather.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 10/07/2012 15:57

Well, when the sun comes out and its warm every one seems to moan about that and that pisses me right off...that why I am joining the moaners about the crap weather....if you cant beat em just join em Grin

flatpackhamster · 10/07/2012 15:57

It's ruined my jam-making this year. Soft fruits are so much more expensive this year than previously.

Yes, YABU. I live in the supposedly sunny part of the UK, I'm in a new house with a new garden, and I want some vaguely warm, vaguely dry weather to enjoy it!

Bastarding Jet Stream.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 10/07/2012 15:58

And also........where I work we are dependent on crops being good....no doubt this year it will be another shitty crop, hence no payrise, bonus etc etc....I have good reason to moan!Hmm

Francagoestohollywood · 10/07/2012 15:58

And keep in mind that usually on the third day of sunny, summery weather people pile up on MN complaining about it...

LadyBeagleEyes · 10/07/2012 15:58

It's been quite nice up here.Smile

YouOldSlag · 10/07/2012 16:00

YouOldSlag - I don't really LIKE it but do you have to moan about it so much?

Yes. Why on earth should I keep it a secret?

So far:

Local carnivals cancelled
Kids going mad cooped up indoors
No parks and picnics
Sports day cancelled
No rays of sunshine that put everybody in a good mood.
It was the wettest June on record.
I have not known a summer like this in 42 years ((quivery old lady voice))
The garden thinks it's November.
I'm still wearing socks and boots in July.

ExitPursuedByABear · 10/07/2012 16:00

It is particularly crap though isn't it?

YouOldSlag · 10/07/2012 16:02

*Only a saint wouldn't moan about being rained down for a solid month, especially in the summer.

Agree.

PS I am not afraid of getting wet or going out in it or my kids getting wet, just sick of it happening every weekend and school run ad nauseum.

RubyFakeNails · 10/07/2012 16:02

Yes we're in the uk sand no the wet weather isn't that shocking but neither is the complaining. Discussing and complaining about the weather is one of this country's national hobbies. You know this country is obsessed by weather think about all the headlines when it snows a bit, you'd think it was Armageddon the way they carry on.

I don't particularly like the rain but I'm glad it's not hot as working in London in the heat is hell, especially the tube.

Petsinmypudenda · 10/07/2012 16:02

We are British, we are genetically programmed to whine about the weather.
If we didn't we would never talk to anyone.

Viviennemary · 10/07/2012 16:03

YABU to moan about people moaning about the weather. Still they'd have a lot more to moan about if we lived in a country that had really severe droughts.

Groovee · 10/07/2012 16:04

My dd's qually and last day in P7 mean we don't have a group photo that every other year has. :( I also feel really down. I need some sun.

SandyBottoms · 10/07/2012 16:04

Our income depends on the weather. That's why we are poor through winter AND summer. If it were sunny all the time I'd be filthy rich!

laptopcomputer · 10/07/2012 16:04

My garden doesn't think it is November, it is lush and green (for once). An hour ago it was pouring with rain but now the sun is out. It will probably rain agin later but my garden is loving it.
