Don't flame me! I'm not even a fan of the man - honest. He just seems to have the whole world of Mumsnet against him and I don't see what's wrong with him other than the Press have got it in for him.

Nicole Kidman seemed very happy when she was married to him, I remember reading an interview with her in which she talked about his kindness and how he "never went for the jugular" in arguments.

He has raised his two children with Nicole after she seemingly walked away from them. Like Peter Andre, he Really Loves His Kids.

OK so he's a Scientologist but to agnostics like me that doesn't seem any weirder than Christianity or Islam or any other religion.

How do you know this, OP? Do you know Tom Cruise and Peter Andre personally? Have you met them? Have you met someone who knows them? ... or do you get your information filtered through PRs and journalists, from TV programmes and magazines that have the sole purpose of selling more advertising?

I suspect it's one of those things where at the beginning you don't realise the more sinsiter aspects of the cult. Maybe that was so with Katie? My dp was a scientologist - he says it got him off heroin years ago. He thinks they are nice people trying to help others but I suspect he didn't spend enough time there to find out whatever worrying things go on.

Yes, I do - just like everyone else on this forum. That's my point really; we're all making assumptions based on what the Daily Mail tells us. Has KH actually said that she's divorcing TC because of Scientology?

I've no connection with Scientology but from what I've read about it, it's no weirder than, say, Catholicism which teaches that bread taken during Holy Communion actually turns into the body of Christ. Isn't that weird and creepy ... and then there's the priests raping children and the Vatican covering up for them.

you can read up and educate yourself of the teachings of the three main religions, hinduism and buddhism yes it is often cryptic and strange to modern day beleifs but most religions envolve and how people live by their religion

you can not (unless you are a higher member) on the teachings of scientology that is only for a few, that is pretty fucked up

He has? Really? I bet he has an army of family/employees raising those kids while he is off making movies. You don't get to be the highest paid actor in the world by coming home every night. (I am FT working parent so I'm not having a dig at him for working, but I bet he is away on location a lot and so the children aren't exactly being raised by him alone).

As for Nicole walking away from 'them' didn't TC completely blindside NK with his petition for divorce - a little like Katie has done to him?

NK did not walk away from her kids ....I have read a couple of interviews where she has touched on this, she is VERY careful about what she says, as to paraphrase she wants to leave the door open, so that as adults they come back to her.
She was cut out of there life b/c she was not a scientologist. (she mentions the religious influence) ...so I can absolutely understand why Katie Holmes has acted the way she did
TC was also very nasty in how he approached his divorce to NC, I think filed the papers while she was in the air either too or from Australia, accused her of having an affair because she was pregnant and he didn't think he could father children ( DNA tests proved he was the father).....GO Katie HOLMES

I think Rolling is a scientologist. The reason for this is because i dont see how anyone who wasnt brainwashed into the cult could defend it.

There was this story in the press about the missing wife of the scientology leader just recently. They have no idea where she is or if she is missing or dead or locked up in some sort of caravan prison on that Golden Base encampment.

And didn't they report that KH had sacked her old security team because she no longer trusted them? So perhaps they were sitting watching her against her will.

And Tom reportedly wants to pack Suri off to live on a ship and learn the most extreme values and beliefs of Scientologists. I wouldn't want that for my child and I would be very worried about the way Nicole was cut out of her children's lives even though she had joint custody of them.

She doesn't seem like a bad parent either so why would her children choose not to see her if not for the rules of the cult saying that they can't? I'm not surprised Katie is running as fast and as far as she can and hopefully taking Suri with her.
